    I like the NuCamp Cirrus 920 for the simple fact that it has NO SLIDES! Did I ever mention "I HATE SLIDES, WHICH I WON 'T GET INTO HERE! Ha! I own a Lance 1181 truck camper & I am in the process of removing the slide & upgrading everything in it.
    The Yokon Host is nice, but your gonna need at least a Dodge 5500 or Ford 550 to haul it.

    Can you get into the last camper when the slides are in? Looks like those theater seats would block the entrance door. That would be inconvenient!

    • @RVBlogger

      I agree. Having to open the slide to load it up for a trip is a deal breaker. Also, to use the bathroom? I don’t think you can do anything without opening those slides. Harder to stay at a Cracker Barrel, etc.

      Thank you! So glad you liked the truck camper torus. I have to say I did a double take too but according to Host website the base weight of their Yukon is 3,955 lbs. Obviously that wouldn't include many of the upgrades like the washer and dryer. I imagine it has something to do with their "ultralite 100% aluminum structure". Thank you for your support!

    “I don’t like sleeping in a bed w mirrors. I had a bad experience at Cracker Barrel and I don’t wanna talk about it”
    Umm Mike, dude, that created SO many troubling angles to imagine you almost now need to clarify !😂
    Is there a Crackle Barrel hotel I’m unaware of ?! Have you guys been nesting in a closed restaurant squatter style !?! So many possibilities here it’s mind bending !🤣😂

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  10 місяців тому

      🤣 I'm afraid the imagination is a much better story. We pulled into the Cracker Barrel and our bedroom slide wouldn't come out! (I know..this is why slides suck!) Unfortunately we have a tilt-a-bed that has to be tilted when the slide is in. We had to sleep horizontally on the bed which felt smaller than a twin bed. Needless to say "sleep" was a struggle but once Mike did he woke to his own reflection in the mirror. So busted slide, sleep deprived and seeing that handsome mug first thing in the morning wasn't his best morning! But he was, more so, concerned about shattering the mirror while we slept. 😬
      But I really enjoy your theories!

    • @PetePaulIII

    I like Arctic Fox and Bigfoot truck campers - they are 4 season rated. Why would I want to camp in the winter? Well I don't but late fall camping you risk freezing rain, light dusting of snow and high winds when traveling.
    Lance and Host have great layouts, Cirrus pantry is very well thought out.
    You should review the Cirrus 620 because it's 1/2 ton truck ready for those who don't have a 3/4 or 1 ton budget.

    The NuCamp Cirrus 920 looks like the one I'll go with. One thing I like about it is that it is made by the Amish and they always put quality and precision first when it comes to construction. It is also really set up for extended boon docking in remote areas with 930 watts of solar, 810 AH lithium batteries by Battle Born and a 3,000 watt inverter. Heatable tanks make it a true 4 season unit too.

    Thanks Susan and Mike, another well done video. These campers have come a long way since I was a lad in the 60's. I was thinking about the cost, not of the camper itself, but the 1 ton dually truck to carry them. 50-100k +. Might want to add that in. The first and third ones don't appear to offer toilet access without having the slides out, which is, well, a drawback. The Lance: stupid fridge, no one needs a three burner stove in a camper and they all should have front to back cook tops with a large convection microwave. I'm not a fan of any dinette, two chairs and a collapsible, storable table would suffice. One doesn't need a sink in the bathroom, there's a shower head right there. Nucamp: the kitchen sink is strange. (do your dishes). I'd be hitting my head sitting up on the bed. Host: double the price when you add the beast of a truck that you would need. I suppose there are people who would and do buy these campers and that's great for the companies. Anyway, just my opinions. Stay safe out there.

      Hi Tuvia! They sure have come a long way! And you are right about the cost of truck to complete the package. I can answer that question. all of these campers would need at least a 1 ton dually or heavier. the problem is weight. i have the same truck as you but a 8 foot bed. my northstar 850SC pop up camper is under the weight limit but not by much. all of these campers are at least 4,000 lbs when you add water, groceries, clothes. etc.

    while all these offer some compelling features and floor plans they one thing they don’t offer is value! while $125k is well within our budget these campers simply don’t justify those prices from a basic material and labor assessment…let alone the value or utility provided. A couple of concerns on the Host Yukon: that bathroom door situation was wonky in a couple of ways and the shower was cheap; it makes me cringe to think about 40ish gallons of black water moving around on a slide and do you have to put the slide out to empty that tank? The trim around the slide-outs looked cheap also. For an MSRP exceeding $100000 they need to do better not just bigger.

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  10 місяців тому +2

      Those are all fair concerns. I don't think having the black tank in the slide is an issue. It's no different than moving around as you are driving. And the slide doesn't have to be out to empty it. As for the trim around the slides, they used the same fabric as the furniture upholstery versus traditional wood trim. Everyone's taste is different. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate your support!

    • @buckhorncortez
      @buckhorncortez 10 місяців тому

      No, the black tank can be emptied with the slide extended or retracted. The position of the slide has nothing to do with the function of the tank. I don't get worrying about the weight of the tank on the slide. Other RVs have refrigerators and complete kitchens that are moved outward with the slide.

    Great video, thank you! My only problem with all 3 of these is I feel like I’m living in my great grandfather’s Winnebago. Some new manufacturers are going with modern designs and have solid colors, sharper angles, things like that. They just look better. These manufacturers need to update their exterior designs and color schemes to a more modern aesthetic. It seems the design on all 3 of them stays with the same design that’s been around for ages.
    The 3rd one, the Host Yukon, is insane! It’s incredibly large. I looked at a photo of it on a Ram 3500 Dually and it’s a massive camper on the outside. Functionally, it seems to have almost everything you could want, even things I wouldn’t really need. If I’m camping, or glamping in this thing, I’m not sure I’d need 2 TVs. I don’t really care for the 2 chairs either but that space can be converted to a great 2nd “bedroom” for children.
    I really liked the nuCamp Cirrus 920, the 2nd one! It has everything you need and the layout is great.

    I have been waiting for the Cirrus 920 for a while, once it came out I started looking around for a dealer to work a deal with. Unfortunately, some dealers are playing around with the MSRP and it is all over the place. I've seen it from $75K to $95K. One particular dealer I spoke with has changed it twice increasing it by $15K so I have to wait until they are all done playing games. In the meantime, I have been looking at other brands and will probably go with one of them instead.

    • @RVBlogger
      @RVBlogger  10 місяців тому

      I wonder if the cost of the 920 is so volatile because they just re-released this floor plan. So much of the MSRP has to do with demand vs supply in my opinion. Hopefully they stop playing games! Best of luck in your search. We appreciate your support!

    • @rvnut1133
      @rvnut1133 10 місяців тому

      Yes, that is a possibility but here is what happened with one particular dealer. I had a approximate MSRP from Cirrus directly which closely matched what the dealer advertised, it was only off by a few hundred dollars. I spoke with the dealer and was given an MSRP of $6K over what their advertised MSRP price was but gave me a "sale discount" of the same over amount plus the prep fee of $1K. In other words, I didn't get any discount but they made it appear as if they were giving me one. Today, it is advertised for $10K below what I was originally quoted, and their original advertised MSRP. This is not my first rodeo and dealers need to learn that we are way more educated than in the past, social media is a powerful tool.

    Personally, I liked the second one the most. Shower size was good, however I have an issue with the step in the shower basin. That could be hazardous. I would also immediately change out the shower head for a hand held. Overall, it's layout made the most sense and seems more practical, especially having outlets right below the table.
    The first was okay too. Had a decent layout. If you have multiple people staying in it, the slide out makes sense for space, but that's just an added item to maintain and point of failure to be concerned with. For what it was, I don't feel like the slide out is worth it. I have an issue with the footprint of the shower basin. Again, you have be careful where you step when trying to shower.
    At first, the third one looks awesome, but it doesn't seem like much thought was really put into the slide outs. The theater seating slide with just stupid. To sit in the seats, your legs would be dangling, to the reclined options is really the only seating option there. Personally, I would much rather be able sit down with my feet on the floor. The dining slide, is not very practical either. At lest is does have a tiny ledge for you feet when seated, but you would have to be constantly fighting with the table position to sit down or get to the toilet. It did have the best shower in my opinion. You can actually move around safely in the shower. Having a window on only one side of the bed was a downer too. With they space they had to work with, I felt like it had the worst layout.

    Apparently if you are going to use any of these campers, you’re going to stay on pavement. They all look top heavy. How about getting the height from the bed to the top of the AC. No one makes a camper for standard trucks. And, they are too heavy. I have a Sunline 9.5 (1974) that measures 10’7” to the top of my evaporator. Sits on a 1973 K20 Chevy truck. The floor plan is similar to the second one. I can sleep 4 adults and 2 kids. The dry weight is 1800 lbs. AND I can pull my 19’ boat (Grownups boat), and put it in and safely retrieve it at a tidal ramp. Most of the new campers don’t have a front window or escape hatch. Mine has 2 propane tanks. Mine is also all 12 volt. Have traveled all over the country and ran beaches on both coasts. Years ago, I parked on a street in manhattan. Can’t do that now!

    Good video, but why pay 100k truck and 130k camper? 2500-3k lbs payload is the standard on HD trucks. At 4k-5k lbs with these, you'll require 4500/450 HD truck not the 3500's or 350. Diesel for sure and updated suspension. Nearly 20k more into the suspension to handle this weight. Just get a 8-12,000 lb trailer and 2500 truck. For under 125k.

      If you spec an F350 (and I'm sure GM and RAM) correctly the truck has a payload of over 5500 pounds. I have a Host Cascade its loaded wet weight is 4935. My F350 dually, door sticker payload is 5600 pounds. I don't want to pull a trailer or fifth wheel. For my wife and I, the trip is the vacation, not the end point so we never stay in one place longer than 2-3 days. That's why you buy a truck camper.

      It’s where you step into a tub or shower enclosure to take a shower. . . like at your house. A wet bath is where you stand wherever you can, and let the water rip: water everywhere. Everything in the bathroom gets soaked.

Imagine how much more room would be in that bathroom for the shower and the toilet if you just eliminated the useless sink.
