- The new Trueno Edition GR86 from Toyota came with several unique features not available on any other model of the GR86. Let's take a deep dive and go into every detail about this limited edition Japanese sports coupe! From Brembo brakes to a matte black vinyl wrap, there are many interesting things about this version of the GR86 but is it worth the price?

I actually put my order in for this exact car at my Toyota dealership 7 days after it got announced. Im first on the list. I cant wait for it tbh. #manual the safety features for the 2024 are actually what sealed the deal the for me considering i hate being stuck in bumper to bumper traffic so i will be using the ACC and LKAS thru busy city traffic and i will be sliding every corner on my night rides.

Really surprised it didn't come with the full GR body kit honestly but it is what it is.
Yeah, another person pointed out that they may be saving it for a special TRD/GR edition similar to what they did with the FRS and GT86 in the past and that makes sense.

The matte black on the hood is practical and stylish. Anti glare is a real thing, and with the Brembos, Struts, and the N.A.S.A. membership they expect you to put out on the track. We went with a Premium in Trueno Blue. It comes in on the 18th... 🎉 Happy Days...
Anti glare? Really?😂 No one puts a skinny strip of black vinyl wrap down the center of their hood to improve their track driving skills. Those Brembos are pretty awesome though. Congrats on the new car man 👍
@Nick_Ramirez Thanks. It's not a skinny strip in the hood, it's the whole center. That's the reason they use the suede over the gauge cluster too. It helps prevent reflection on the inside of the windshield.
@@teotwawki00 I am well aware of the purpose of using material like suede on a dash but that is not what we are talking about.
If the reason they used the matte black vinyl on the hood was for “anti glare” purposes, I personally think that is really silly. There is no way it could provide a significant enough of an advantage otherwise every every professional race car would be doing the same thing.
My main gripe against it has nothing to do with practicality, I just think it’s ugly. I would never sacrifice the looks of my car for such a minimal practical advantage.
0:25 this car is badass, it has convinced me to remove my oem zenki BRZ Limited spoiler! It looks so out of place in that frame! Imagining my car without it already looks amazing in my head!!

I really love the GR86 platform it's great that Toyota wants you to modify the car and that they are selling the brembo brake kit at a Toyota Dealer. I like it how they have this Trueno edition although it will be price gouged with Markup in the US. It’s just a shame that these cars are marketed at young audience looking to have fun it but the people that will be able to purchase this car won’t be what its marketed for. Their is also an issue ive been watching these forums about the GR86 having issues with the RTV getting picked up resulting in motors being blown as well as the oil pressure dropping dramatically during hard driving. I don't see myself getting one soon but I am curious to see how Toyota/Subaru reply to all the people having issues with their GR86s.
I am really interested to see how that whole RTV thing plays out. Hopefully everything will be fine after the 2023 model. It's best to avoid an early year model of any car tbh.
@@Nick_Ramirez yea thats why im hoping that they clean it up a bit fixing the RTV issue aswell as the drop in oil pressure and maybe give it a different face lift that makes it look even more aggressive
Trueno Designer!!! Those suggestions for the stripes are actually super clever and sick! I really like the idea of doing the lil ass cheek stripes xD! The front ones give it that aggressive look too, I think the black hood looks kinda goofy since they only did the little landing strip on the hood.

I think they’re gonna make a GR/TRD edition down the line so they’re probably gonna save that for it. Otherwise this special edition is alright tbh.
Yea makes sense, I was thinking the same thing. Do you know if you can even order that GR aero on a car in America? I see it a lot on cars here in Japan but don't remember seeing it too often a year ago when I was in Texas.
@@Nick_Ramirez I’ve seen some folks import it and get it through some US sites but not ordered through Toyota themselves. This special edition could’ve been so much more considering the history behind that name. Supposedly a new model might be made without Subaru thoo

I think I read some instagram comment somewhere that said it is. Idk tho. Now you read some yt comment about someone who heard from some ig comment that its direct bolt. The rumors continue to spread.

Hey , i want to turbo Charge my 2019 gt86 but was thinking of getting a 370z instead ,because of the Lack of Power of the gt86. However i like the looks of the gt86 more. I mainly bouhgt the car for drifting. Which one would you choose?
I went through this same dillema in 2019 and chose GT86 and do not regret it at all.

Yea although a carbon hood probably would not have done much for the car performance wise, I think stylistically, it would have take this car to another level. Certainly better than a black vinyl strip.
I dont like it !😅 save that extra money for baffled oil pan, baffled gas thank, oil pressure gauge, exhaust and forget about the brakes, stock brakes are just fine 😁

no carbon hood and just the stripe feels goofy, and the fact they called it Trueno edition and not Levin or even GTS edition for Americans only rn it looks like tells you everything you need to know about this car just marketing to grab the weebs
