  • Eighteen-year-old Levi Caverly was visiting the Jersey Shore with his family from Maine. But their visit ended in tragedy when the hole he and his sister were digging collapsed. Levi died and his sister was injured. Theirs is a close-knit family who did everything together. In a heartbreaking tribute posted on Facebook, his grieving father, Todd Caverly, wrote “Your world can be forever changed in a second, with no warning, and no second chance.”

Bless the family and I pray they get through this time. But one can only rest after death in the Lord Jesus Christ. Death in the Lord Jesus is eternal life with him. A life apart from Jesus is eternity without God. God demonstrated His love for us that while we were still sinners, He sent Christ to die for us. If you confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised him from the dead you shall be saved.

4ft should be the limit considered relatively safe, any further and you're taking a gamble. I'm surprised they made it as far as 10ft using frisbees without a collapse on a sand beach earlier. They must've been at it for hours because if the sisters head was above the sand then they had more shallow areas meaning that the hole was significant in width as well. A collapse like this is one thing, the teens were probably past the point of exhaustion even before the collapse. Horrible all around.

Not once did I blame anyone and as for me being at a beach...if I were there and saw a stranger digging 10 feet deep, I would assure that I would be the "Karen" to alert the lifeguard station that there was an extremely large hole being dug that didn't look safe. It doesn't take a genius to know a 10ft hole is unsafe in any circumstance, for the person digging and those around. I am very aware of my surroundings and only want the best for any life, including a stranger, so I would probably report someone struggling in the water as well.

My whole body was in the middle of the pile when it collapsed on me and instantly felt the heavy weight on my back and the sand in my mouth, eyes, nose, etc. immediately started screaming for help which made it harder to breathe.
