@SantosAntonino123you mean the testimony of dozens of sailors vs the word of a failed captain? And you implying that it being a dinosaur is what probably happened?
Indeed. With the Russians sudden interest when they known more for their apathy than rushing to the rescue, especially outside their home waters; the location of the boarding in the Channel; and the amnesia everyone suddenly developed, I wouldn’t be surprised if our grandkids read about the details of this incident when records eventually become declassified.
@@maybev1nce according to the Estonian Defense official (some of the pirates were Estonian citizens and so became involved), “…only the presence of cruise or air defense missiles (S-300/400 or KH-55) on board the ship can explain Russia's strange behavior in this whole story." He also noted that the size of the Russian naval unit sent out in such haste after MV Arctic Sea was larger than the entire naval force dispatched to deal with the Somali piracy crisis. It’s suspected that this was either an attempted covert delivery of these weapons to Yemen from Russia, or by a rogue Russian General trying to get a nice payday. Neither is unprecedented to be sure. The crew themselves were all Russian. It’s also suspected by some that Israel, who would have had pretty strong feelings about this delivery, may have played an indirect role in the “piracy” by hiring the pirates. In the end, the real story may come when things eventually are released, as they usually are, a few decades from now.
I don’t know why but mysteries of the sea and at sea have interested people since antiquity. It’s not unlike mankind being drawn to sail and travel the worlds seas and oceans.
...Because there are so many genuine mysteries hidden beneath the waves. It's a true alien environment for us and still is... we still haven't mapped in any real detail the majority of the seabed and still have a far from complete picture of what's hiding down there. It's also terrifying - which makes makes it a perfect place for folklore to evolve - imagine treading water alone in the middle of the Pacific with countless fathoms of dark water beneath you with God knows what swimming just out of sight... it's truly terrifying and reminds us that we are far, far from knowing it all, despite so many trying so desperately to persuade themselves to the contrary... put them in the middle of the pacific and that blind arrogance will evaporate in seconds... we've still got a lot to learn.
I love this channel so much. I remember back in like, 2015-16 I had a phone plan with very limited data plans that would reset monthly. Every single time my data allotment would reset I would immediately spend all of that time watching your videos. lol
The Ourang Medan story would be creepy if it wasn't for the fact that there's no evidence the ship ever existed and the story is widely regarded as total bullshit.
Even spookier about the Ourang Medan is that there are no records that the ship existed, though there were photos of the ship in a 1948 article. The ship was unregistered with Lloyds or anywhere else. Newspaper accounts say it happened in 1940, 1947 or 1948. An alternate version said Jerry Rabbit and 8 others escaped the ship and only he survived to tell the tale to a priest just before dying. This version said they were smugling sulfuric acid, potassium cyanide, and nitroglycerin from China, no mention of a rescue ship(s).
@@lorddamocles2222 Yep. As granddad said, never let facts get in the way of a good story. The sudden explosion and sinking while preparing to tow is a perfect touch. On the other hand, there's the Mary Celeste story and its inventive news reports.

Isnt it possible that the l8feboat on Bouvet Island was simpky abandoned and drifted to its resting spot over months or years? Even the most desolate island will have trash druft in from time to time. I think its just the fact that its a life boat that makes it so mysterious.
Nah id say the reason why the captain is being labeled “incompetent” is because other sea captains in germany are sick of being mocked by the rest of the world as believing in sea monsters and thus wanted to relieve themselves of their torment.
He drew the short stick and the other Germans tipped allies off of the incompetent guy who talks about sea monsters to cover for his obsession of heaters and extension cords
"I die" is so creepy, especially since earlier the message had perfect grammar and spelling. It's like the person knew they were dying in the next few seconds.
Ourang Medan, definitely noxious or asphyxiant gas from a source unknown. Going by the mysterious spontaneous fire though, my suspicion is that the cargo was emitting it.
Thanks to Globalization there will soon be an International Health & Safety Police with the power to tell anyone to do anything at anytime. The unvaxxinated proved that these Police need to be given unlimited power because there will always be idiots who won't do what they're told. I'm pretty sure the S.S. Ourang Medan is a fictional story but that CIA document is weird. It's kinda funny because it's supposedly a real agent asking about a bunch of supernatural stuff, like he doesn't sound like he knows anything, he just sounds like a regular dude trying to talk to a friend via letters. They sure were a little looney back then, men who stare at goats and all that but those same people went on to do some really evil (serious) stuff in the 60's.
Cape Verde is known as a Russian haven of sorts. Perhaps that explains MV Arctic Sea. Ourang Medan is downright creepy. And to sink immediately after being found idk that one is pretty weird for an area where so much traffic goes anyway.
How is the first story “unexplained?” It sounds like a guy who bit off more than he could chew and abandoned ship OR sewerslided because of guilt. Sounds pretty straightforward to me.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this Finnish ship that was attacked by "pirates" wasn't actually transporting wood...
What would it have been transporting then

I think the MV Arctic Sea was carrying more than lumber... And whatever it was it wasn't anything you would put on a manifest.
The pirates found out what it was and also wanted no part of this mysterious cargo among the lumber
