honestly it’s really wonderful how a gay woman turned people’s hate into a very ironic and amazing movie. i love this movie. it does make me sad, very sad, but just enough irony to keep me watching it
I read in an article somewhere that she’s unlabeled and considers her sexuality to be more of a “what mischief can i get up to today” instead of a “what gender am i attracted too” (i think she’s def into women)
@@jaelyngcI think is how you view it. I just think is a joke. I saw a video the other day where they did the same joke with a can of beans. I think it’s funny Unless you don’t like beans, then I guess you’d be offended with the association
Clea duvall giving the most straight actor playing a gay character answer ever 😂 its not necessarily about them being gay they just happen to be two girls. Poor girl was deep in the closet 😬
i love this movie!! as a lesbian, my only problem with it was the depiction of homosexuality being really hypersexual and making it seem like lesbians are attracted to every woman they see and can’t help but fantasize about their bodies (megan having all those visions of boobs, crotches, and asses at the beginning). That being said, this came out in 1999, so you can’t really expect it to be completely un-problematic.
I do think it's trying to tackle issues with the discomfort people would have with women having and expressing sexual desire. It perhaps comes across a bit off, but a very femme woman having a greater amount of sexual desires and learning to accept/be unashamed of that is pretty cool and tackles preconceived notions of how they should act/feel
Aside from the obvious main characters, I love love love Hillary's character. She was -to me- as conflicted as Megan, if not more. She obviously wanted to meet the goal of the program like Megan did, but she has the same self awareness as Graham did. She knows she is betraying herself to have to pretend to be straight for "success", for that accomplishment and acknowledgement that she is a good law abiding rule following girl. I wonder if there's a religious aspect to her character too, just like Megan. Although there were symbolism, we never see Megan's religious conflictions(and Hillarys) but I wish they'd explore that. Does Hillary play along with pretending to be straight? Did she ever feel resentful about Graham and Megan getting caught fraternizing and then running away on graduation day? Or did she grow some guts and started exploring in college? Or became homphobic instead? Guess we'll never know.
Natasha is the best
"i think the message of the movie is be gay. Or be yourself, but preferably be gay."
😂
😂
and shes still making us believe that shes straight pfff who are you trying to fool natasha
Natasha kissing Clea’s cardboard cutout and saying how pretty she is...she’s so precious!
I love how Rue’s interviews always end with him saying something slightly suspicious
It's a talent
I remember being in the closet 14 years old sneaking to block buster to rent this movie… watching it and feeling hope
this is so sweet
aww, I hope you're in a better place now! ❤
@@kosmaatiqueyep 😊 I live with my wife and our 2 cats and a dog. Thank you ❤
AAA, GOOD ENDING, THAT IS SO CUTE
Rue Paul saying he loves to corrupt the young actors' minds is hilarious to me.
It’s funny that far right people will probably take it out of context when he really means the equivalent to teaching a baby how to say curse words.
Clea Duvall is everything
This whole cast is beautiful, but can we talk about how DROP DEAD GORGEOUS Jammie is!!?? Like, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Yeah the director’s hot and still is to this day
Yeah damn
REAL I DID NOT EXPECT HER TO BE SO GORGEOUS JESUS CHRIST
Natasha loves Clea so much its absolutely heartwarming what a precious soul
"the message of the film is 'be gay'" I love Natasha xD
Literally every time Rupaul ended his little interview scene I laughed
"it's fun to corrupt their minds" 😂❤
When he says "i've personally never been straight" i broke into laughter 😂
"true erections"
Now this film is one of the best movies I’ve seen in my life
It's insane how underrated this movie is, it's an absolute masterpiece!

Natasha being straight is such a shock

to be fair a lot of other teen movies/movies in general make the straight characters similarly hypersexual
😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Does Melanie not age? She look the same nowadays! :o
