I haven't flown since 1989 and have no intention of ever doing so again so it was nice to see you on a plane flying for me. Thanks for a interesting video Tim.
Turn your front wheels of the car towards the sidewalk on a hill,so if it goes backwards your car won't roll down the hill, it will bump up against the curb❤❤
If you're parked uphill, you want your wheels turned away from the curb, not toward. So if your parking brake fails, the car rolls toward the curb, not into traffic.
23 quid for that lounge didn't seem bad considering you can eat and drink almost as much as you want. A Relaxing place away from the rif raf while waiting for your flight. £1.50 for a kit kat on the flight was outrageous though😲
The problem with a lot of lounges is that they're easy to get into e.g. some credit cards have perks to allow you in or a discount from a travel company etc so they get filled up quickly and everyone who is there on a freebie just crams everything in. I travelled with work to Australia once and we had the business class access and they were so much nicer - free showers, lots of space and good quality food and drink. The business class "lounge" at Euston was always funny when I was getting the train from there, free waster and hot drinks and biscuits but not a huge amount else and little space to sit as it was always so busy
All U.K. airports have a water fountain (I saw Gatwick’s one signposted in your video) where you can bring an empty refillable bottle through security etc and fill it up in the filtered water fountain. Cheaper and no plastic bottles. I see them in most airports abroad too. I have a collapsible one that folds flat when empty, so takes up no space.
Really enjoy these overseas double headers, well made and thought out. Obviously it's difficult with family responsibilities and expense, but I hope we see plenty more of them. They compliment the British content well.
Does it feel strange when you do a still standing shot and then you walk away from the camera with people looking at you, then you have to go back for it? You have great confidence if it doesn't especially travelling solo, another great video I like the fact you made the extra effort to get another still shot even when running late for your car hire👍 legend!
I enjoyed your travel vlog from the UK to Lanzarote. 6:00 A library without books. 7:00 nice choose of meals, fill up Tim. 10:00 Waht is with the seat? The guilty person looked up.17:25 Posh coffee pot is for ground coffee and go on the stove, do not think it is idea for a hob stove. Great video as usual, i always particularly enjoy the ones where we get the whole journey, i feel like its ages since I’ve flown so I always enjoy these!
Another excellently well produced travel snippet Tim! We only use the airport lounges because Barclays include 6 visits per year with their ‘travel plus’ insurance pack. Other than that we’d probably say “not worth the money” and give them a wide berth! - My wife just reminded me that we once travelled ‘Upper Class’ to Hong Kong with Virgin; their lounge at Heathrow was amazing!
Flying out to Lanza on Sunday and staying in the Tisalaya apts. Have been to Lanza loads but this is my first time in these apts as I had to book package. Did book in them a couple of years ago but got cancelled due to covid and the guy on reception did let us have a look around the complex though not in any apts.
Love this vid! Very insightful and informative of what to expect and how to go about things whilst travelling and arriving during late nights. Thanks Tim! And thanks for also including info on the costings.
The Gateway by Easyjet is actually a really nice little lounge. Used it for my trip to Rome. Unlimited breakfast and drinks including alcohol. Food was really good and those little pancake makers are super cool. Not expensive either really for what you get.
Hey Tim enjoyed the vid. To use the coffee percolator: you must disassemble it all, fill up the base with water. Put the round drum back into the base part and tip out any water from the drum, fill up the little round drum with ground coffee (obviously not soluble coffee like Nescafe) screw on the top part, start heating it and when the coffee pot starts to make a train like noise (you can't miss it) This means that the water from the base is rising up into the top part of the pot. Turn off the heat and pour into your cup.. voila P.S. dont overfill with water. You must not get it in the round drum part. Be careful cause sometimes it can splutter hot coffee when it starts boiling..
Top tip Tim. Everyone that frequently goes to the canary Islands only really uses Autoreisen, Cicar, Payless and Pluscar. All 4 X no hidden extras. Autoreisen and Cicar being the biggest and best 2. Also you didn't show the pool!
Thanks for yet another great video Tim. Lanzarote was my mum and dad's favourite holiday destination. They went every year, sometimes twice a year, for probably 30 years or more. We lost mum almost a year ago but I like to think that she's back in Lanzarote, sipping on her Chardonnay and eating at her favourite restaurant, after a day sunning herself by the pool. Actually, I am the only member of my family who hasn't been to Lanzarote, I'm more of an Orlando girl, who loves the thril of the theme parks!! Thanks again Tim x
In fairness, the hot food was covered when I was in there last month - and it was superb! With a delay to the flight it was better spending the time in No1 Lounge than in the main concourse.
Good to see the No. 1 lounge. I too didn't like the food open to everyone coughing and touching. Regarding the car hire companies on arrival..... you have to remember that maybe they were closed because they had no bookings that late in the evening. Thanks for another useful and informative video Martin. Love your channel 👍👍
Hello Tim,I'm liking these videos it's always a mad rush to board the plane and sorting out things lol,the apartment is really nice, the weather is brilliant.
I recently flew out of Gatwick with tui to Mexico had access to the no1 included in my ticket have to say it was really nice again like you security was so fast at about 5am
If you had lounge access you should have security fast track... not that you needed it ...the point of speedy boarding is to guarantee overhead locker space on busy flights...
Hi Tim, I just stumbled across your video. I am a widower 73 and generally holiday alone in the Costas. I need a trip in November for my birthday and was considering Calpe in Alicante, not so warm 😕or Puerto del Carmen for the sun🙂. Your apartment looks just what I need and the key collection was easy. Many thanks.
I've used the No.1 Lounge at Gatwick when BA were refurbishing their lounge (so it was in the ticket price). It was okay but I wouldn’t pay extra for access. The BA lounge is way better, as are most of the major carriers own lounges. BA's looks classier and there is a better range of food and beverages - and it's self-pour ;-) If a lounge is included in your fare or you get it through loyalty programme status it's a nice perk, but otherwise I wouldn't bother. The apartment looked great 👍
I'm surprised you wouldn't use the lounges again. The No1 lounge is my preferred one and is, I think, good value for money if you've got 2-3 hours to kill. I've also used the Gateway when No1 was full, but it was very noisy with a stag party when I was trying to work, but generally OK.
Great video again👍🏼 Tip… take an empty water bottle with u. Once through fill it up at the water fountain or most bars are obliged to fill them up. Win win x
After airport lounges you ought to do a vlog on motorway service stations, Tim. They all seem to share the same chaotic huddle of people and coffee shops. 😅 I have great memories of Lanzarote. Cheers for the snippet. 👍👍
I have personally just booked the easyJet no1 lounge after seeing this as it looks so worth it (I know they're two different lounges but they look to offer the same experience) especially since I'm on a short flight which half the time gets delayed. Great video as always though!
Thanks for doing such good coverage of the lounge, my wife and I are flying out of Gatwick next year and it looks ideal for our needs! We usually get food and drink anyway and once you factor in that cost it feels like paying for the lounge might be worth it for us as we both like to be somewhere a little more quiet.
Be mindful of which lounges you pick, some people get free lounge access e.g. with a basic credit card perk or premium bank accounts so they can be quite busy with people just taking as much as they can. The premium lounges are likely to be less busy - example would be No1 lounge (one per terminal) which is £34 though you can get free access if you plan carefully - if you get the AmEx preferred gold, you get 4 free passes including that lounge (correct at time of posting) and the fee is waived in the first year, plus you get 20,000 points if you spend £3000 in the first 3 months - so you can transfer them to airmiles and cancel the card without a fee
Thanks for the video of the lounge. Very informative overall. Did the No1 lounge in Dec 2021. It was OK and enjoyed the service but I'd probably just go to Wagamama next time.
Must say I love your videos, great information on everything. You have inspired me to go solo again for the holidays so maybe see you about . Yes please keep doing them we all love them
I've only been to the Canary Islands once and that was, you might say,a flying visit in 1973 when our South African Airways 747 landed there to refuel Heathrow to Johannesburg. You had to fly around the edge of Africa then as there were a lot of SAM 7's floating around down there although I think that their ceiling was only 10000'still best not be on the wrong end of one!
We’ve stopped bothering with the lounges apart from the BA ones but you have to be flying at least Club to use them so we don’t use them often. Hope you have a fab Holiday, we just got back from Tenerife last week and are missing it already. Cheers Tim.

We always find with easyJet it's cheaper to fly on the plane than getting to the airport and parking 🤣🤣 as long as you don't eat on board and you take your own hand baggage 👍
