One question. How can I replicate these changes to the first records created, for instance, Record Type was not available for first 2 students, now, Record Type is empty for them but I cannot edit.
You mentioned that they got the Student Layout that was created by default, but then, how can we assign Fresher or Experienced to these records.

Sorry my bad english, and thannks for the bootcamp. I found that the warning "You haven't selected any navigation items for this app." appears because you dont add any item that need Navigation rules be configured in console navigation. If you add Contacts or Campaigns, for example, the warning dissapperas, and you will be able to configure the navigation rules for those items. For example: Campaign open as > Workspace tabs or subtabs of....

I applied the validation rule to check entrance score can't be blank. But for experienced candidate that field is not available but the rule is applied to the following record type too. How can we separately apply the validation rule to both fresher and experienced candidate?
hi sir, when i use that validation rule that you edited for fresher. so upon refresing the page when i tried to create new fresher record and save it , it didn’t throw me any error for entrance score and it got saved. what can be the reason. i refreshed the page many times but still the records are gettng saved.

Sir I did not get this. After cloning Student Page Layout to Fresher and Experienced , While creating New Student, it gave option to select fresher or experienced, But what happened to the old format of creating New Record for the student.

I have heard an requirement from one of colleagues so the requirement is like while implementing validation rule on a text field so that field should not be left blank and should be a number that too 5 and 6 and should not contain any text in that. How to deactivate the mass validation rule with metadata?
so once you make a particular record type default ,can you change default to another record type later? I couldn't. neither was I able to delete or inactive that record type as it is already used as default record type by all profiles. The only way I am still able to change the default record type is to go in individual profile and edit their default record type. is there any way to update the default record type for all profiles in bulk. Because that option is not there under edit option on record types.
We need to to it individually.

1. If we made it mandatory that the ''entrance score'' should be populated when we were creating this field do we still need a validation rule.
2. what is the difference between ''validation rule '' and '' when we made it mandatory when creating the field. as in both cases the record cannot be saved.
3. **This one i Corrected. ( I made the compact layout but the layout is only applied to the fresher one and not to the experienced one, where it can be went wrong.)

First of all thanks for this awesome initiative and your effort to the SF community. Now, I have question related to this session, I have created fresher and experienced layouts and record type, they are working fine. But when view or edit old records it is showing the old layout. How to change this. pls explain
On old records we don’t have any record type assigned so they are showing old layout. If you assign new record type to those records using record type field then you will be able to see new layouts

Hi Sanjay ,thank you so much for quick reply. Once we create custom record types will the master record types no longer be useful? and as you said old records will have master record type which was available before. but even though you update the page layout for Master records to new layout we created. It's not getting applied to old records. it have same old student layout .Also their record type field doesn't say 'Master record type' it is just blank. Why is that?
Record type field will be blank because master is just a placeholder not a name of record type. And page layout will update may be it will take few mins to apply.

Yes place record type field on pagelayout and from UI you can edit existing records to have record type populated.

Sir I am on day 4 of Salesforce bootcamp and my doubt is that record type in COMPACT LAYOUT is not getting populated for existing records before creating Fresher and experienced page layouts and I changed master layout to fresher so it should be Fresher for existing records in record type or it should remain blank?
My second doubt is why it's even showing error for entrance field in experience page layout when ENTRANCE SCORE field is not even there before applying record validation .
Sir why cant we use ISNULL instead of ISBLANK for validation rule of entrance score as its in number data type?
I think sir is using Standard Practice.
ISNULL() is only used for Numbers If you use ISBLANK() It is used for both the datatypes if it is a number
or it is value it works on both
Page layout assignment is difficult, when we have two records types like experienced and fresher

@@naveenchowdary6559 There is no such way to identify on record page, that which page layout you are using for that record; you can identify the record type only. You can use isnull function also can use equals operator

Sir, suppose we have some students whose age is < 10, but we want that newly created student's age should not less than 10. If we modify other field than age of those students whose age is less than 10 then it should take that changes, not reflect error. How will it possible?
