Thank you very much for this excellent tutorial. Just thought I'd add that, at least with the latest version of Excel, you can complete the data label process automatically by selecting all data labels, right click, Format Data Labels, Label Options, Value From Cells, Select Range - then choose the 'Event' range. It is a smashing one of a kind product for getting 7000 plus project management and business templates minus the normal expense. I've created my timeline using your video. Is there a way to adjust the x axis label to show only month/year of the beginning of some (or all) phases?
Now it shows "random" dates of timeline according to major units, but it would be more informative and easy to follow for readers of chart to be able to have only important dates in the axis of timeline.

Hi, I would like to create a timeline with BCE dates. How can I do it on excel?
Thanks for the tutorial.. I need help. I am working on mac and followed every step precisely, when i select a data to enter For series name select E30 (“Duration”)
For Series X values select C33:C46 (“Start Date”)
For Series Y values select H33:H46 (“Height”)
and entered it didn't mention dates and entries was not same as yours its like zigzag. when i followed till end it was mess. like today redline is breaked. Please tell me how to fix it? i m using mac
One problem though, when I change the Start Date it moves another data point (diamond) across the timeline, though the reference external link is shown as correct, can you please help to figure this out??? This refers to lines with negative Height values, under the X axis.

As soon as I typed my question, I got the idea on how to do it. It is very simple. Just add the data in the table first varying the dates and heights as where you want the marker to show and then change the data table to show the desired text..
I want to add specific colors to each task to color-coordinate them, but once I start filtering the colors always get mixed up :( Any ideas how to solve this problem? :(

As soon as I go to add data to add the red dots, the whole graph condenses so that all points are on the same Y axis.... ????
Can someone help me? When I add my dates to the x axis, they change completely. I want to input each month from January - December 2020, but when I do, the months change and the years change. They aren't the same as where I selected them from.

Hi, I am not able to open the suggested site (www.launchexcel.com) from any of my devices. Has the website address changed?
I really wanted this to work for me, but the "absolute" references of the diagram labels to the table cells become a mess when you insert a new row in order to add another task to any particular phase. It becomes a big chore to re-establish the correct linked references. Love the look, but Its really a "one-shot" Gantt chart with limited scalability.
