The words comfortable and normal, I found really hard to take. They never find it normal or comfortable. They 'put up with it' or 'disengage from the act' because there is either something they feel balances out the traumatic experience or they feel now powerless to say no or get away from these men. They compartmentalise and zone out which is very different to normal and comfortable.
