@glawsny Maybe it was too demanding for Julie. 1995 was just around the beginning of her vocal problems.. In the 1982 movie, she only sang during the concerts, but in this musical, she sings way more numbers.. and at 60 years old, its a bit too much to be singing and dancing so much for over 700 shows dontcha think so? lol
60?! It's impressive her voice held up for so long, she'd been singing songs in incredibly difficult octaves since she was a little girl so you'd assume the deterioration would have been faster
I cannot THANK YOU ENOUGH for this. I was there. I remember being so mad, because I loved this number, and Julie singing this. I remember being so mad! Who was that man? Why is he singing? Well, shut my mouth this is INCREDIBLE! AWESOME!!
I agree the movie version was better, this one is still very entertaining - how you not love whatever Julie is singing, but it has obviously been changed to take into account the length of the show/ 8times a week. I think it is probably fair to say it accommodated her changing voice as she aged as well. I love everything Jules does, but her 1982 version was steamy compared to this one.
simply does not add up to the movie. it was great to see ms. andrews live but just not up to the movie in any way! and there was no standing "o" at the end of this number even with ms. andrews
The time I saw it, the show was held up by the standing ovation at the end of this number.
I love the actor who introduces her! He's awesome! And Julia, timeless, I love this musical!
Fantastic!
"The" Julie Andrews!
I love Julie! :)

Yes! This show is how she got her nodes unfortunately. :'(
Tell that to Chita who was doing Spiderwoman at 66

somehow, the 1982 version is better....no offense to those who feel otherwise
Pales compared to the film. Plus I had to sit thru Liza doing this and I assure you, there was no standing o at the end.

Agreed. And this costume is the ugliest garment I have ever seen on stage.
Too many on the stage singing this number .....It was done better in the film Julie and a chorus of about a dozen.
