- In episode 02 of the Aberdeenshire Coastal trail, we'll take you along the coast from Findlater Castle to Portsoy and back, then explore the mysterious castle ruins atop a cliff. The original castle dates back to the 13th century, and although it has been rebuilt and fortified, then fallen to ruins over the centuries, you can still imagine how it felt to live there as you gaze out of the massive stone windows. This is truly a gem on the Aberdeenshire coastal trail, but not for the faint of heart! Explore with caution.

If you're new here, welcome to my channel. I live in Scotland and this channel documents my adventures and life as an artist in the Highlands. My life goal is to hike around all of Scotland (and islands) with my sketchbook and cameras, a project I'm calling Sketching Scotland. I'm doing it in stages, as time allows (I'm busy!). There will be day hikes as well as longer multi-day camping trips (in the warmer months). So there's plenty of variety here. Most importantly I'm making an effort to learn about the history and important features of each area I visit. I love sharing what I learn with you all. Thanks for being here!
