FYI - The Dansco Album does not have spots for some coins but we'll be hunting these boxes of nickels for Silver Nickels, Buffalo Nickels, Proof coins, Old Jefferson Nickels (namely semi-key and key date nickels), Liberty V Nickels and 2009's for their low mintage.
Let's keep our fingers crossed and our eyes open for some valuable Nickels!

When I saw the video was almost 20 minutes long - for a two-box nickel hunt - I knew it was going to be a sweet hunt! You had a great assortment of finds - and that 43-D nickel was a nice score - I only need two nickels for my album - and that's one of them. Another great video!

You got me hooked on nickel hunting too lol... last box found 2 1950's (sadly Philadelphia, but I needed one anyway), 1945-P war nickel, and rather randomly a circulated 1986-S proof nickel.

Wow, I’ve never done all three in one box yet, had five silvers and a V in a box though
I hunted a fair amount of nickel boxes in the early 2000's. Got decent silver each box and often a buffalo. Anyways I grabbed a box today from my bank. 26 finds including an AU 1938, a nice 1936, no date buffalo, and a 44P & nice 42S. Not a bad box on a random pick up. Its nice living in a small area with people that don't do this kind of thing!

But I couldn't believe what I found, in the 2 boxes I hunted, the key date 50 D nickel! First one ever. What a great hunt that was, Rob! Found a 39-S in my last nickel box and a corroded 45-D that looks like it had spent some years in the ground. Now only missing 38-S and 50-D.

Doing some local metal detecting. We found a 8 pound cannon barrel in a garden and coin spill, mostly large cents, seated dimes. You're due for some swinging too brother?

Nice hunt! I just got a 43D yesterday but in a little worse shape than yours. Still finally able to fill that slot in the album!
Except for the 1912-D and 1912-S the 1909 is the lowest mintage of the 1900's Liberty nickels.

Hey Rob - I just found a 1939 D Nickel - is that a key date? What does it mean if it’s a key date?
It is. It means it’s a more rare nickel. Problem is that it needs to be in great shape to be worth more than a buck or so.
Come to think of it, I havnt seen you pull a silver 42 in ages, how long has it been? They seem just as rare in circulation as the 50D.
How can you tell if a 1965-1967 coin is an SMS? I have 1965-67 quarters bought as SMS but they don't look much different. A little proof like maybe. I bought the whole 66 and 67 sets to put into albums but have hesitated cracking them open to put them into albums.
By the way it looks. Not made from proof dies but from nice dies run at lower speed. No proofs issued 65,66,67.
