      You should watch the end cenamatic after siege of boralis. There is just a little more of the storyline to it. To get up to the final cenamatic, mean lady sent jaina to an island pretty much of pure evil where the drust king that you fight at the end of waycrest manor took jaina into the nightmare realm you and her mother go in to save her from the demons of her past.

    Blizzard really just needs to do a star wars: clone wars style show for Warcraft. Start from the beginning and just cover the entire history of the story/lore. At this point they have enough content for like 10 seasons or more.

      I agree i think it would be great to see and would help people who love the lore but are finding it increasingly frustrating trying to keep up with it all when Blizz speads it out over so many various mediums. Would rather have it all in 1 place.

    The Jaina storyline is important to those of us introduced to her in Warcraft 3. She is one of the longest serving characters still active in game lore and so even though the Alliance questline is centered around this family, it is meaningful and impactful, given the loss Jaina has endured time and again.

  • @Lehnert
    @Lehnert 6 років тому +47

    Spoilers, so beware, beware, the spoilers of the game:
    Actually we don't seen Jaina up until the very end of the Alliance storyline. We fight witches in Drustvar, we expose Lady Ashvane as a bad person in Tiragarde, we prevent corrupted Tidesages from sacrificing Kul Tiran fleet to Azshara. And only then (and after talking with Genn) Jaina's mom decides to get her daughter back. We find out that she was exiled on an island from which no one ever returned. It turns out that everyone on that island is captured into Thros, the Blighted Lands, which is somewhat related to Shadowlands. We go there with Jaina's mother and that's where the vision-cinematic happens.
    Then there's also one final cinematic that you've missed (Pride of Kul Tiras or as Blizzard named The Return of Hope). It happens after Siege of Boralus dungeon, which happens after the last cinematic that you've reacted to.
    Also there's this recurring theme of death.... or rather Death (as a cosmic power). We have Bwonsamdi, we have Helya (which is alive), we have Gorak Tul and all this Thros stuff in Drustvar, we have Sylvanas, we have Bolvar (he was doing stuff in Legion, now Taelia turns out to be his daughter), then there's this intriguing questline concerning Vol'jin that you can unlock upon reaching revered with Zandalari Empire. Looks like Blizzard is setting up Death for something big.

    On the Alliance side, winning Jaina's family over means getting their fleet and getting an advantage in the war. They have to fix all the problems in Kul'Tiras and win the family over so they can win the war against the Horde while discovering Oldest God influences.

    • @Mactav3
      @Mactav3 6 років тому +3

      It's not just a matter of "winning the family's favor", because as we learn in the briefing and stormsong the fleet is trapped in a storm, and not even the Storm's Wake tidesages can bring it back. That power is tied to the enchanted pendant from Daelin and the Proudmoore bloodline. No one else can call the fleet back home.

    • @Vicioussama
      @Vicioussama 6 років тому +1

      no, it's bad writing because the fact they make her lord admiral. That makes zero sense because for over a decade the Kul Tiras people have hated Jaina and feared her. They aren't going to approve of her (at least many, enough to be a problem). That is the problem. I'd be ok with her EVENTUALLY regaining the people's trust and eventually becoming Lord Admiral, but I feel she's just being rushed into leadership by Blizzard writing team for no good benefit and ignoring what would really happen.

    • @ClassiicMe
      @ClassiicMe 6 років тому

      The God Emperor Blizzard isn’t going to spend more than an expansion just to explain growing trust. That’d be worthless and boring. The writing is fine, you’re talking about interpersonal relationships not story writing.

      @nishikaze 6 років тому +1

      Actually the 'World Ending Events' on the Alliance side is a bit more subtle but it's there. It involves Azshara manipulating in the background. Yes... World sundering demon and old god-loving Naga queen of the Sea.

  • @drunkjediknight
    @drunkjediknight 6 років тому +5

    There is a lot of back story involving Jaina, an established character since Warcraft 3. These cinematics cover her guilt over all the loss she has endured and the choices she made which got people killed. Because of those actions Kul'Tiras has been secluded until recently and uniting the country of Kul'Tiras and helping the proudmoore family allows the Alliance to bring them and their fleet back into the fold.
    Yes the Horde have a more intense feeling with the Old God story and having them fail with the seals but the Jaina Story line is no less involved with the Old Gods and Azshara herself

  • @gerardlacroix6015
    @gerardlacroix6015 6 років тому +2

    I really loved how in the Arrival you see Jaina so vulnerable to the "Do you accept the judgement of your homeland ?"...
    And then you realize she bears the judgement of all the people who died around her, and the first cinematic dosen't bear the same meaning when knowing that.

      "lul, so our nation has hated you for 10+ years and now we're going to just make you Lord Admiral and no one will have a problem"
      Garbage writing :\ also, I don't believe anyone who really hates themselves/hates their decisions and is angry about things would get over it just like that when Jaina's mom is all "forgive yourself." It'd be a start, but I doubt it'd be enough to really solve it for good.

And what I've seen from that scenario that happens before Jaina's Visions, it really adds context to Katherine and what is going on, which is awesome.

    Jaina's story is tied to the rest of the questline of kul tiras, and as an Alliance player you need her to bring the Kul tirans into the Alliance. But there are probles along the way, and as the champion of the alliance its up to you to do all the dirty work while Jainna gets the cinematics. Its our lot in life, and i'm fine with that. lmao

    I think that you should play the Alliance side or just watch Nobbel's stream/video about this. I think that a lot of the plotlines in Kul Tiras kinda go over your head because the cinematics themselves are just focused on Jaina. I mean the entire Stormsong is about Azshara and Drustvar is about an ancient evil from the past.

    The giving of the necklace to the ghost of her father in the Warbringers Cinematic was more or less symbolic imagery. After experiencing the atrocities the Horde were capable of (a few too many times in her eyes), she went back to the place where she laid her father to rest, and drudged back up what was valuable to her new ideals (much like how she took his pendant and left everything else) because she is now willing to listen to some of the "truth" in what her father was saying. "I'm listening now... father..."

    The 6 people standing behind Jaina are those people closest to her she most blames herself for failing to save. Ronin (Vareesa Windrunner's Husband) and Kinndy (Jaina's apprentice) were both members of the Kirin Tor that died when the Mana Bomb hit Theramore. Varian fell at the Broken Shore (which she blames herself for not being involved in due to her personal issues). Behind her is Uther Lightbringer, who was a close friend and who was murdered by his apprentice Arthas. Then we have Daelin Proudmore, she failed to dissuade him into attacking Thrall's horde in WC3 ... and stood aside from both sides of the fighting, resulting in his death. Finally, we have Arthas who she feels she failed to save when she ran from Stratholme rather than stopping him. The lady is one big bundle of regret and loss.

    Jainas story is one of the saddest in WoW. She lost Arthas to him becoming the Lich King, she lost her teacher to the scourge, She lost her father to the horde to try to maintain peace, she lost Theramore and Rhonin to the mana bomb, she feels she failed Varian when she didn't let him wipe out the undercity, she finally goes home and her mother disowns her and condemns her to death. Almost her entire tale in Warcraft has been a tale of loss, pain, and sadness. It is past time for her to feel a little love and they start that with the escape from the blighted lands and the cinematic at the end of the Siege of Boralus dungeon.

    The Ferryman of the Underworld is named Charon (Care-ON). He transports souls across the River Styx in exchange for a drachma (the more or less standard currency in Greece at the time. The dead were usually buried with at least one to ensure they passed on to the other side).

  • @L1ghtsnack

    The bigger thing going on is that the Kul Tiran fleet was kidnapped and held hostage by Azshara and the Tide Sages that control the northern part of Kul Tiras and have control over the oceans have allied themselves with Azshara. Drustvar’s rulers allied themselves with Gorok Tul because Lord Waycrest was dying, giving rise to the Coven which is bringing back the Drust. Gorok Tul ‘s realm is where you find Jaina. And then that lady with Katherine Proudmoore that tells her to “uphold their laws” is creating azurite weapons to overthrow the Proudmoores and take control of Kul Tiras by attacking their own towns under the guise of pirates. But by just these three cinematics it looks like a lot less lol

    Blizzard is doing exactly what I wanted them to do with Jaina and that’s add context to her actions from Warcraft 3 until now. So many people bitched about Jaina and why is so crazy and this gives meaning to all this and this whole focus was to help her over come this and reunite with her mom her people and get passed it and move on, and blizzard nailed that emotion and ended it with a bang at the end. Imo the alliance side was far better then the horde because of the dialog and emotional story being told vs imo a more typical blizzard story on the horde size which was still good and def brought more bigger story as a whole but of course it did because they knew the alliance side was more linear

    The pendant to the ferry master was entirely symbolic and metaphorical. There were NO actual dead there, it’s Jaina’s guilt.

    I do think you need context particularly for the latter cinematics, to get more out of them for sure. Also, the premise of the Alliance arc is that they need a larger fleet, and Kul Tiras is the key and thus the proudmoores, so i think that is why it's more politics & personal

    I think part of the feeling that some people might have about the Alliance side a bit smaller is scale is due to the fact that 8.1 is going to be dealing with Azshara, and we're not there just yet. The first raid is dealing with more the Zandalari issues, and then we switch to the Alliance side so to speak with the Azshara raid. That's not to say that the Alliance story hasn't had to deal with big events, but it's just setting the pieces for something bigger. I don't know, that's just kind of how I feel about it; we're dealing with the here and now which is the Blood god, and Azshara is just waiting her turn while also causing some shit here and there.

    I'm pretty sure the part about her giving her kul tiran pendant to her father's ghost was just symbolic. Not everything in that video was supposed to be interpreted as literally happening; it was an expression of her memories and feelings that led her to the point at the end of the video with her raising the ship.

    you relate the scene of her father's spirit with Charon - Hades' ferryman, who steers his ferry between the beaches of the rivers Styx and Acheron, the border between the world of the living and that of the dead
    P.S. this cinematic literally filled my eyes, i barely stopped myself... it's so much easier to forget and forgive others for what they've done to you... but when you must forgive YOURSELF... for what YOU've done, or you failed to do... it feels as if you're not worthy of your own forgiveness... :(

    The Alliance side is a little scattered in terms of "the problem". The main idea is to get the Kul'tirans help we have to unite the noble houses and get the Proudmoures to like us, each House has a province essentially, with issues. The whole spooky witch thing that you find in both Tiragarde Sound AND Drustvar is related to the Drust - the original race that inhabited Kul'tiras when the humans came and who had a thing for killing unarmed civilians. Many moons ago the Drust were defeated but their King supposed dead, is not, and he's the one doing all the witch crap. The loading screen image with Jaina on one side and some wicker-magic monstrosity on the other - that monstrosity is the King! The other thing going on in Stromsong Valley is very void/chaos/Azshara/old goddy, full of tentacles, and references to a Master, and how SHE will rule all.

    Her mom is literally hearing Jaina's thoughts and all of her guilt about all the things she thinks she did wrong. And she finally understood what actually happened when Daelin died at Theramore. I am hoping that might equal some more understanding in the future between the two factions, but I'm probably dreaming on that front. :P

    The whole plot in the Kul'Tiras, is to get the Fleet to combat Zandalar's massive fleet but it is missing, and N'zoth and Queen Azshara are after it and want to control it. and its about Uniting the Island of Kul'tiras. Also if Jaina is never accepted back what would the chances be that The Alliance will be accepted.

    @tradechat I disagree with u bout horde motives and scenarios are global but the alliance side is so minor focusing on a family / person.
    You should remember that the current role team not just focusing only a major enemy or expansion... the alliance story getting bigger and bigger with each expansion since the mist of pandaria. And not only focusing jaina but also with king anduin. (gosh it still feels like weird to say king to that lil boy.)
    Alliance story more look alike healing the Azeroth whilst all the storylines and cinematics for the horde is, stay alive, get horde growth and be the only power on Azeroth.
    Tbh from this point of view alliance storyline is more global and circling everything inside it but the horde lacks on global events and mainly focusing on war against alliance and bitchy sylvanas motives.

    Jaina just gives off the whole Disney princess vibe now. Whole story line is bi polar. One minute she's riding in on a badass arcane ghost ship, heroically saving Anduin, saving Stormwind later... and then she's self-loathing and being pushed around by her evil (step?) mom, some fat cartoonish lady, and presumably locked in a tower. ...All while remaining super stylish, tho.
    It's disappointing. Jaina was a fav of mine going back to Warcraft 3.

    Horde Player - obviously, out of context, it's less impactful. Not much epicness in the Horde cinematics if one hasn't played those quests either, btw… and let's face it: apart from having to flesh out some more or Jainas background, they had to sideline her for most of the opening stages of BfA, lest she'd have accompanied the Alliance with the Kul Tirans smashing the Horde and Zandalari to bits while they were still sorting their stuff out. Or in short: for all her power, Jaina had to be slowed down somewhat before she might once again turn her attention on the Horde.

  • @GulNadar
    @GulNadar 6 років тому

    First, love the braiding. That must have taken some time to get right.
    Secondly, story wise.... the Horde and Alliance stories are opposite of each other. The Horde come to the island and things start off well. The King is in charge and overall it’s moderately stable. After some time the island turns into a cluster fuck as factions erode the stability.
    In contrast, the Alliance comes to their island and it’s a mess. Faction leaders of the island have gone astray in their own ways, and Lady Proudmoore is barely holding onto power. The player helps replace corrupted island faction leadership and by the end Jaina is back in good standings and joining the Alliance happens.
    Unrelated question: How is Sylvanas going to work with this Loa of Death? They seem to be a conflict of interest with each other.

  • @shehran6936

    You watched the first 2 cutscenes in the wrong order, you're right.
    The stories for Alliance and Horde are similar. Where the Horde has a bigger threat like the Bwonsamdi taking over the Zandalari the Alliance have the 3 houses of Kul Tiras separated and fighting their own battles without aid from Boralus. Jaina's internal battles are like the conflict that Sylvanas, Baine and Saurfang have externally. So storywise Alliance isn't just focussed on Jaina although she's almost the Alliance's Khadgar this expansion so her character gets more spotlight than some others.
