What lies, politicians & others have already forgotten those who died in 2 world wars & subsequent wars. I doubt there's a family alive now that isn't decended from those who went through those times who are being thrown on the scrapheap by have worse and fewer education opportunities, fewer & worse job prospects than even 20 years ago and successive governments trying to get rid of the rights fought for in those wars. The easy bit is standing at various memorials around the world looking sombre for a while.
