If you want to learn more about Silesia and the history of this country, do not read anything Polish, because for Poles the history of Silesia begins in 1946. 12 Nobel Prize winners come from Silesia. Red Baron Manfred von Richthofen, Oscar Troplowitz, the creator of the Nivea cream and many others are Silesians, but Poles only know that they had their barns in the steppes of Ukraine ...😆😌

I am from Canada and I was in Katowice. I was shocked when I learned it is a mining city. Mines are all around. Sure does not look like a mining city.
Katowice was mainly industrial city in the past, now it's more a modern city to explore, live and festivals, events. In 20 years Kato changed it's look in 180°. If you are looking for mining go to Ruda Śląska, Chorzów, Sosnowiec, Zabrze or Świętochłowice.
It's nice to see that some tourists came to Katowice and they like this city. :) I'm from Katowice. Have you eaten traditional silesian food? I mean from Upper Silesia (so from Katowice, Lower Silesia have their own traditions), something what everyone should try is silesian roulade with silesian dumplings and red cabbage (rolada śląska z kluskami śląskimi i modrą kapustą, or czerwoną kapustą, in Silesia in silesian dialect we call red cabbage as blue cabbage), it's really amazing dish. :)

Try Szczawnica in the Pieniny mountains if you want to relax in a small but very beautiful historic resort with river rafting, hiking, biking, etc. Enjoy!
Szczawnica, Dunajec Gorge rafting trip, and Pieniny Mountains National Park with hikes such as Sokolica Mountain, Trzy Korony Mountain and Homole Canyon are just all wonderful.
Visit Stołowe Mountain ( in Polish - Góry Stołowe ), very unique mountains that few foreign tourists know about.

It's a lot of nice places in 🇵🇱 I'm from north Poland but i have family in Katowice 🤩 enjoy guys and feel like In Home 💪😜😎 Gdańsk it's beautiful same
The weather is getting better and better so it would be great for you to see the Baltic coast a bit. If you are planning to go there (Hel peninsula with Gdańsk/Gdynia/Sopot or Szczecin/Świnoujście), do it before the school year ends (by 24th of June), because later it's going to be very crowded and expensive. And Warsaw is the best place to see in July/August because most of the people will be going out for holidays. Enjoy!

In one of my previous comments I said I'm not gonna suggest you any places in Poland, cos travelers doesn't usually get my suggestions up for their plans, but I decided to try again, especially if you're still in Southern Poland! Well, Karpacz and Szklarska Poręba in the Sudety/Karkonosze mountains! If you liked Zakopane, You're gonna fell in love with these two cities/towns! My def. fav! I've been once in Zakopane, but in the Sudety - like 40 or more!

To be precise, Park Śląski is in Chorzów, not Katowice. It might be a little bit strange, but all parks territory is in Chorzów, which is preety big city next to Katowice. In fact, recently in was called Park Chorzowski (Chorzow's Park), not Silesian, but couple years ago they've changed the name.
To nadal Katowice, Chorzów, zaczyna się przy AKSie. Część parku należy do Kato, część do Chorzowa.

I recommend the region Podkarpacie: Kazimier Dolny, Sandomierz, Bieszczady and the vineyard of Podkarpacie. And also Karkonosze, Mazury, The Castle of Łańcut
Park Ślaski is nice ( I live i Chorzów, territorially the same city), but the fact that you missed Nikiszowiec is sad (if not a failure)
