critter is pretty good, too man! They both have something to offer and I could listen to either of them all day. not a competition, but yes julian is amazing.
Julian and Chris I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this piece and end up mumbling “this is so incredibly beautiful.”You are both phenomenally talented and I will continue to follow you both
I come to this lakeside show whenever I need some extra good vibes to feel at peace. So, in these times, pretty much weekly ... thank you Julian and Critter!
I've listenin and playin guitar music, since i'm pretty young. But holy f***, there is some magic happening. Every note, every chord, every harmony is so damn tasteful and Chris and Julian harmonize so well together and listen so close and respectful to each other. Amazing 😱
this duo is soooo inspiring!!!! I got to play "with/for" them in a masterclass in danville!! it was beyond amazing one of the coolest musical experiences i have ever had. I will forever be a fan!!
An incredible duo! It's clear to see their communication on a musical level when they perform when it comes to rhythm and feel for the direction of a piece. Julian Lage has to be one of the most gifted players in the world right now. His consistency and ability to improvise is unrivalled. Their jovial expressions as a two-piece bring out the best in each other musically. Hope to see more of their performances in the future! :)
Missed my shot to see Chris Eldridge with the Punch Brothers last may due to Covid. Hopefully the stars align once again and I get to fulfill my life long dream of seeing those guys. Hahahaha.
For a minute I didn’t know if best rendition of “in Christ alone” or best rendition of the nation-wide song.. just kiddin’ , they world class players beyond my conceivably achievable level.
Dear Guitarists, I just completed a full Transcription of this wonderful tune for Tabs + Sheet Music/Score + Chords: www.playlikethegreats.com/julian-lage/and-chris-eldridge-butter-and-eggs-live-on-flathead-lake
Was shown this by my music professor. Absolutely marvelous. So strong that I was able to feel and vision a story in my head. It was so vivid. I was in tears of how beautiful both the story and the music was!!!!
Those beautiful guitars, mic, and two gentleman very close to the edge of the narrow dock make me nervous! Besides that, the music they make is astounding.
Epic....History being made here....Lage is just unreal...it's been a long time since someone moved me like Julian does....Metheny does that to me ...at times.....but my lord, what a transcendent talent.
I attended the 2017 Crown of the Continent festival. Albert Lee, David Lindley, Jerry Douglas,Brent Mason, and Sonny Landreth. Great artists and good people. What a blast!
Became a huge fan of Julian and Eldrige after watching their fretboard journal session. This video too had me wanting to abandon everything and get better at guitar. Looking forward to more! Perhaps another go at 'Old Grimes' in a similar setting?
Yes, watching these guys makes me want to play. Some virtuosos make you want to put your guitar away forever, but these guys make you want to pick it up, and try to capture some small element of the sound they get. In other words, they inspire.
These guys are OK. It's amazing how Lage has created his own "voice" at such a young age. So precise and yet so fluid. Also very exciting when Eldridge stepped up.
As Pablo Picasso once said: "There is only one sound lovelier than that of a guitar -- the sound of two guitars".
wait a second Pablo was a homie of yours??
the quote is actually from chopin
@@gustavgansgstersohn5930 Thanks for pointing that out. I've been telling people it was Picasso's quote for decades. 🤣
@@robst247 damn 😂
@@mistyisland343 He died in 1973, one day after my 15th birthday, so, no, but nice try.
Can you almost smell the wood from the martins and the water ?? It’s insane this lonely jamming sounds and beauty
Julian Lage is on a different level, on a different planet, in a different universe.
critter is pretty good, too man! They both have something to offer and I could listen to either of them all day. not a competition, but yes julian is amazing.
2:30, right?
G Agreed. I see them both bringing different elements. I can't pick between the two and I bet they both have tremendous respect for one another.
And 6:15 !!!
Lage is sent from the future.
I'm so glad I live in a world where such beauty is possible
Put this in my friends funeral slideshow. Perfect. RIP Alex McIlvaine.
A million miles from that lake . delightful.
Julian and Chris I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this piece and end up mumbling “this is so incredibly beautiful.”You are both phenomenally talented and I will continue to follow you both
This has to be the best use of vintage Martins by far. So beautifully done!
these are Collings I think
They also have a pair of collings that match these guitars, but these are their original Martins.
No dislikes so far. The world is at peace.
I am flabbergasted and astounded at the musical genius of this duo....it truly makes me believe our next generation is goingin the right direction....
My gast was truly flabbered.

I've never seen such fluidity in a guitar player like Julian.. it's incredible to listen to and watch..
This video is holy ground, such great playing!
These guys are like peanut butter and jelly, they just belong together! Wow!
This rise my spirit..so good music, so masterfully preformed!
Beautiful beyond words... and the musicianship is out of this world!
Jazz background meets bluegrass is making for some wonderful compositions. So many surprise elements that grab your attention.

who has balls to dislike this
No one apparently. It doesn't take balls though, just the lack of a soul.
utterly miserable people

@@MedicalNemesis I wanted to come up with something snarky, but your nailed it....no snark.
@justin. y Why? Are you from New Zealand?
My favourite video on the whole internet.
These are two amazing musicians. What a gift!

One of the finest song I've heard lately, so full of pleasure and guitar wizardry, I can't ask more from music.
Truly Masterpiece. I Really Love It!
Eldridge, you never cease to blow my mind with that tone, especially at five minute twenty second point. Downright delicious!
Beautifully played gents!
DIVINE HARMONIC GOODNESS !!

so much control of the sound, beautiful

Beautiful song and beautiful place.. beauty itself
Outstanding. Lage plays everything soulfully and with elegance and Critter ain't no slouch either!
Those beautiful guitars, mic, and two gentleman very close to the edge of the narrow dock make me nervous! Besides that, the music they make is astounding.
I was thinking the same thing all the way through this video. One misstep and there goes one very nice guitar. Murphy is always lurking nearby.
Nothing as precious as friendship !
What a duo. I am blown away!

goosebumps over my body

Wonderful music. Wonderful togetherness. Wonderful to share their sensitivity and poise. Wonderful.
Nice locale....those Flatheads had a nice place there. Inspirational I would say.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

Impeccably clean.
I frickin love this!!!
One of my all time favorite acoustic guitar tunes. Their styles blend so well on this.
Incredible, thank you!
awesome. makes me think about a Julian Lage/ Chris Thile duet.
check out the tune gardens when Chris had Jules on a prairie home companion
i was just coming back here to say i found the prairie home companion stuff. looks like some of you did too:) yes, they're wonderful.
@kevincase @forrestpope there need to be an album and a tour "Chris Thile & Julian Lage"
Luke Dylan yes!!!
@Luke Dylan definitely! couldn't agree more.
Absolutely beautiful.
What an absolutely moving performance. Thanks very much for putting your time into putting this footage out here.
Damn.. Just. Damn.
Take a DRAMAMINE before you watch. Good Lord. Great musicians, true artists.
Oh man, absolutelly beautiful!!!
I hear some Day and Age in there! very very nice.
beautiful...
thanks guys! keep it up! is good to see that real music is still alive! You have amazing control, creativity, feeling and technique. (L) awesome!
Wow, this was beautiful
Nice setting! Beautiful music!
Amazing!!! Love this acoustic guitar style And Lage's Music!!
Can someone please tell me what this is called so I can find it on Apple Music?
Andrew Conrad freebird
Butter and eggs
Second Song is "For Critter"
amazing. that guitar just sounds absolutely wonderful, and playing is also impressive!
C'est tellement beau ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌿🌸🌷💜❤️🏵️❤️
Is that like an old om-28 or something close? Good gawd that thing is bright and alive. Musta been played alot.
This is beautiful
Fantastic! Reminds a bit of Led Zeppelin's Rain Song
brilliant as always......!!!
simply beautiful!
The mics sound great.
There is only one!
What is the mic? It looks like a Rode band on the bottom. NT1A or K2??
I guess a Neumann U87!
Looks like a tube based nueman, not the 87
Beyond inspiring
Amazing
I can watch you guys play all day long... so relaxed and yet so perfectly tight... epitome of yin and yang
They are just glued to the beat..
They both love the acoustic guitar
What a beautiful arrangement. Although I doubt that it ever could be written on sheet music for prosperity's sake. Fantastic guitar players.
My comment won't matter. That was great.
Beautiful setting but all that water next to those Martins is making me nervous lol
These guys are OK. It's amazing how Lage has created his own "voice" at such a young age. So precise and yet so fluid. Also very exciting when Eldridge stepped up.
Okay?
Dear friends, someone knows the name of this song? Thanks
Very very Nice Sound
Any idea what Chris Eldridge is playing? It's a vintage martin of some sort but it's got a square top and a very long neck and head. Anybody know???
I think it's a late 70's HD-28
Anyone, what's the song's name? What Cd/album is it on, if any?
Many thanks
butter and eggs 1st half, then for critter 2nd half
sublime
Jeez Critter! Tear it up
Does anyone know the model number of the guitar Julian Lage is playing? I love those orchestra models! Is this an O-18?
Leon Sibum 000-18
Legends
Whatr the chords?? i love this song but cant figure out all Critters chord subs.
This song literally outlines and demonstrates the entire process of healing the continental divide. What?
fire whoever was filming the mic the whole time
hides all the good stuff
Hoping everyone here knows julian lage played with jazz vibraphone player gary burton and all of that music is just as mind blowing.
so nice
Very nicely done with great warm, vintage Martin tone,, What years were the Martins and what strings were each using here?
They could make a Walmart guitar sound good.
Bill, Julians Martin dates from 1939. The D18 dates from '37.
What is the song called though
that's not just that one mic....is it?
i like it!
So what do you call this genre exactly? Is this still jazz lol
Bluegrass.
Music
guitars are 1937 D28? 1939 00018
Ron Atkinson D18
Do believe it's a D28
thats a 50s D28 known as Uncle Johnny
both '39's d-28 and 000-18
Julian Lage toca muito fantastico
