- During this video I say nano-meter repeatedly when I meant to say newton meter. Apologies in advance.
This is an install video for the M Designs Motorsport Z-Cup QUILLA CARBONVICE DOWN COWLING belly pan on a 2021 Z900 with stock exhaust. The product is listed as a 2020 model on the website. I took a gamble and it fits a 2021. I have not seen an install video yet for this product. So, I documented the process. Watch the whole video because I make some assumptions that change while working.
Product: en.mdesignsmot... I think they only get stock for these during race season. If you want one, you might want to jump on it. There is a gloss black version. They also have a few in stock for older z900 models as well.
Why install a race engineered belly pan?
I was asked this question and did some research. First and foremost, it looks cool. I think we can all admit that is the main reason to buy a belly pan. But the real reasons I came up with was that the belly pan provides down force and contain oil leakage from hitting the track. The quantity of oil a belly pan must hold is actually specified in the Z Cup rules. I examined this Carbonvice M Designs belly pan for down force inducing design. The belly pan could be providing down force a few ways: 1. It would have to be redirecting air flow in such a way to create a low pressure zone under the bike, like the top of a plane wing. It could be doing this by increasing the surface area under the bike. It is adding bulk under the bike, so I believe this is happening. 2. It could be angled slightly higher in the rear to decrease the angle of attack. This would be acting like a wing pointing slightly downward. I measured the pan clearance and the front has about an inch less clearance than the rear. So decreased angle of attack is happening. 3. It could have a spoiler affect which is something that would disrupt airflow over the top of a wing and direct it downwards like a reverse flap. I do see some evidence of this on the front where there is a large down angled surface. There might be a little of this taking place on the sides as well. In conclusion, I am going to say that in my opinion, the Carbonvice M Designs belly pan was race engineered to actually provide some down force.
This channel is not monetized. So if you are seeing ads, I sympathize with you over the disruption.
I was honestly debating on buying it but after watching this video for the end look. I’m buying it

Yes. Unfortunately I said it wrong repeatedly.
@@OakInch thanks just wanted to make sure i didnt mess it up 😆
WTF bro please don't shake the camera while recording
your content is good but I can't watch it coz it's shaky
Haha. Sorry man. It doesn't get any better in later videos. I'll work on it. I was more concerned with the process than the video quality at the time. But I know video quality also matter now.
