I am a Kamado Joe fan and also consider myself fairly handy. The AMP firebox was difficult to install. I ended up using some shims at the top joints to allow me to properly get the brace on the firebox ceramics. In reviewing the video again it took two folks to get the brace on. I agree with tedge's post that you need to show the AMP firebox at regular speed and how to do it with only one person.
You need this if you need to take of the hinge. See this: www.bbqshopbrabant.nl/service/kamado-joe-scharnier/ The site is in dutch, sorry about that but the pictures make sense.
Yeah I'm having problems with the AMP Firebox install. I think you need two people to do this easily. Every time I get one side under the ring the other pops out. Are there any tricks to making this easier?

Serial number is on page 37 (not 27) for my new KJ classic
They show installing the AMP firebox a lot easier then it is. Slow down & show people how to do it.
Agree
A few more days!!! My sister is going to have to help me lift it lol!
There is a black zip tie on the hinge, does it need to stay there or should I remove it?
What happened to the Grateful Griller videos?
I had some spare parts in my grate gripper box. Any idea what they are for? Itis a metal cylinder about 2.5 inches in length and some nuts.
Did you ever get an answer to this question?

Those are for replacing the springs on the hinge in the back of the grill :)

Patience, and gloves. I'm guessing you figured this out by now.
The grill came with a package that contains a nut, washer and sleeve ... any ideas what this is for? Spare wheel parts perhaps?

Thanks that was very helpful!
My amp pieces don't fit together like this, there are huge gaps. I am not a fan of the new assembly.
How heavy is grill without legs firebox and grill grates I read total weight of unit is 445 lbs. That's a lot of wieght.
If you're asking about the KJ Classic II, the entire weight of the packaged system is ~188lbs. Where'd you get 445?

Come on guys... the AMP firewall is not that hard to put together... I had help from my 7year old son and we got it knocked out less than two minutes.
It’s not that hard but very annoying.
