The cook stoves alone solve a problem, but to keep adding to the business other solutions like the briquettes and adding in mosquito repellant, it's just genius. Then turning into its own economy, that's incredible. To exchange what would otherwise be waste, for cash to buy stoves and fuel, what an incredible lady.
She's doing wonderful work. Her statement about "4200 dollars a month" at 0:39 must be talking about Kenyan Shillings - being around 35usd/month. So if the stove is 10usd, it's still a large purchase.
This woman deserves a Nobel! Not only is she an entrepreneur but and entrepreneur who constantly thinks about improving her community and the environment.
1,000,000 lung cancer deaths from cooking stoves alone is horrendous. That people's salaries are squeezed so much is the real problem. Amazing work from this woman.
Not to sound negative but for most of us in Africa the “brilliant ideas” that make the news tend to be several times too expensive relative to our income, and even a couple times more than the cost of manufacture. (Specifical example solar cooker’s minimum 200 USD.) Hopefully this is different.

I say….Charlot for president of our country….the world needs more inventive thinking…and yes she’s a woman! Sorry Mr Musk, she’s the one exception to our born in the USA mandate😉
It was Africans who built the pyramids. They were the first civilization. It is the misleading and rewriting of history, that has erased these and other inconvenient facts, to fit a narrative. Stunning when you consider it in its totality.
thank God for internet, that allows many to have education and research on any topic of their interest or need. this would have been slow on foot invention, if it wasn’t for digital world tools.
Thank You, for rewarding Charlot Magayi and her Mukuru Clean Stove the Earthshot prize 🌍🌟🔥 She is an inspiring, intelligent and successful woman who is lifting so many up and into brighter, healthier futures!
I agree with you! Just think, if those of us who are watching this video, contributed between $1 - $5 USD to send to Ms. Charlotte Nagari for the Communities her company is serving, how many more people could be helped. Blessings and Best Wishes to Ms. Charlotte, Mukuru, and all the people that have been helped and will be helped in the future! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️💐
Yes, it is Africas turn to rise up and become ‘rich’. There’s no reason why more Africans can’t develop the same entrepreneurial talent as this fine young lady!
Many countries have terrible trade agreements with Africa, if Africa can have a free market across the continent, they will be the future and hopefully the future is green!
What a woman! Thank goodness through Earthshot she has been given a chance , and grabbed it with both hands, to help families as poor as she was herself.
This is how businesses need to be run. The customer and solving the problem they face are the driving force for the business not profits for shareholders.
Any company not solving some problem for customers will not be around long, so no profits for themselves or their financial supporters whether they be lenders or risk taking investors. This is true Capitalism at work, not the Crony Capitalism in countries overridden by regulations benefiting the few and the government. Wonderful to see it at work as it was intended.
Absolutely agree. Who better to solve the problems of a community than the people who reside there and face its challenges?! For many people watching this, its just a stove but its a product that fuels growth and pride.
The way her one simple desire and wish to keep her daughter safe has blossomed into something so incredible, helping so many and it's still growing is just so humbling. I wish her and all involved in her business and community all the best.
What a reductive thing to say. As if men have never invented anything useful (apart from just about everything) and all women are angels without ambition or ego. What rubbish. How is our world improved by this constant men vs women narrative? Why can't you just praise this lady's initiative and enterprise without reducing it to "men bad, women good"?
Ms Charlot Magayi is a shining light - such a worthy entrant for an Earthshot Prize . Today I humbly salute her and dedicate Maya Angelou’s poem PHENOMENAL WOMAN to her. 🙏
This is an amazing company that she's built. I am so inspired to help other people in need with a similar idea. I wish them all the best and hope they grow successfully.
These are a really great idea! The briquettes are amazing! Coastal towns hit by hurricanes and no power for weeks are a great place to sell them too! The fire containment in small active spaces are heart lifting that you thought of this! Thank you for making life safer!
All these comments are solid truth. There's nothing I can add really. What brilliant but simple design, very cost effective and thoughtful every continuous step. And bless all who benefit from this wonderful woman! Cheers from Canada!
I am so proud of this lady! It will be wonderful if the ash from thiss stove can be used as pesticide in agriculture! All the best for your future endeavors Ms Charlotte! ❤❤
Amazing woman! Thank you for making your community healthier with less smoke, wealthier by using less fuel, and recycling on top of that is even better.
Thank you Charlotte for your powerful inspirational action The stove ..the women cooperative concept ....the additional sections, charcoal briquets ...using agri "waste" to produce more ..and to allow exchange of agri "waste" to purchase stoves ..but your whole concept is so powerful and unites women as those in society carrying the greatest charge- now allowing with your project an enormous social relief of the burden, as women communities work TOGETHER.....Truly dear Charlotte, such great moment to branch out from Kenya to other african countries .. This of course can be realized by many other women communities from other regions to follow your guidance .. BRAVO, thank you
Young lady, what a wonderful trajectory of your vision. You have engineered a major necessity for your community and have already thought of expanding on that solution to an even better innovation. You did not allow being an orphan disillusion your capacity. You did not allow your past to keep you down. You did not allow your meager upbringing to dampen your dreams. May your company grow to even greater heights. You are employing many women and men and that keeps the economy growing. Most important, you are saving the health of many woman who cook every day over coals. The briquettes are an absolute necessity to save the trees in your country. Keep growing and innovating. Job Well Done indeed.
This video of this woman brings tears to my eyes. How inspiring! And so remarkable how she transformed the burning of her daughter into a challenge to prevent that again, then kept envisioning improvements! How fortunate we are for her gifts!
Congratulations! I am happy she won the prize. She deserves it.When we work together to bring change to communities, people's lives are changed, a bigger impact is made, and more people are educated and reached, which in the long run will bring bigger and better change. Well done, young Lady.

Absolutely LOVE what this woman is doing. She created a locally sourced solution to a localized, but widespread problem. I'd buy one of her stoves to support her. I hope they can sell these internationally someday.
I am extremely impressed with this with woman. Having safe and economical cooking stoves and getting them into their comunites with the aid of other women is just brilliant. Better firewood and then using agricultural waste for fuel is also excellent.. Her educational work, mentoring women in her community and looking to future projects is inspiring. I wish her the wonderful people she works with every success!
Beautiful woman, beautiful people and this product is truly transformative for these communities. I love that she is using recycled materials to reduce waste and give it a new life that in turn, does so much good for communities. Charlot is absolutely right for stating that when people's basic needs are met, they can strive for their full potential.
Great job young lady and your team! May GOD continue to give you all great ideas and you all put them into use to help the people. GOD bless you all and your families! 💜 🌹😊
This is wonderful. What a beautiful woman as well! I have a stove similar to this.. think its a Turkish design.. and for the life of me I cannot keep a fire going inside 😮😮😮😮 Well done to someone making this big an impact on the community!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
For the most part, women do things out of emotions, not common sense. Women are reactions, not pro action. So no women should not rule the world. There is a place in this world for everyone.
Sweet hearts I am proud of to for helping your people you /we cannot wait for outside help. Keep dreaming. Africa need s dreamers. I love already. Take care till
Yes. I was thinking about that. I was wondering if the difference is that this one has stabilization legs. The one you are thinking of, is it the one that has the shape of a metal bucket? Like a "V" shape with a flat bottom? If so, then I think that it is that this woman's need is for a stove that is stable on bare ground. Tile or concrete floors is common in Asia, and a flat bottom stove is fine. Do you have thoughts?
Necessity is the mother of invention and let's face it who would want to loose or face injuring their child with a wobbly stove. This woman saw the dark side of that and changed her community for the better with these stoves and then her briquettes. She is an absolute star and long may she continue to shine. 👏👏👏👏👏👍♥️🏴
“All good gifts come from above. From the Father of Light, The Father of Love.” What a blessing this young woman is to our world. A woman, a mother and a blessing to us all. This is a woman.

Circular economy & zero waste. We must learn from them.
