Raised by an abusive father, Cash (Stephen Dorff) channels his aggression to become a World Champion MMA fighter. Now accustomed to wealth, adulation, and global popularity, he faces a new challenge when his second son is born with Williams Syndrome. But this time, rather than stand and fight, he runs. While Cash continues to make his fortune in the ring, his eldest son Jett (Darren Mann) becomes the caregiver to his younger brother Quinn (Colin McKenna). When Jett decides to follow his father’s fighting footsteps and take to the fight game, he faces his past head on, embarking on a course inevitably pitting father versus son in a battle which, no matter the outcome, neither can win.

Alot of people might just look at this as a movie, but what most people don't realize, is that this happens alot more then they think.. it's sad, but it's the world that we live in.

Cash probably has a personality disorder like my father does who was abused. I realize nothing will change. One thing a person like this does is abuse others cus it’s a weird way of taking back the control of the abuse they received at a young age. Psychology is complex. People have to really work hard and go to therapy and most people with personality disorders do not. It’s sad.

I just watched this movie and it was truly, outstanding! I loved every, single second of it, and to spot Turk from Scrubs, well that was just the icing on the cake for me!
I kept checking how much time was left to run, because I never wanted it to end! Each and every actor in the movie was superb!
The writing, the directing, all departments were spot on! I'm sure that they could rustle up a sequel, look how many Rocky's we got! Mind you, having said that, I think the ending was utterly perfect, it just said it all, and didn't need to say more, but still, like Oliver, I'm gonna beg for more!

Aside from the logical inconsistency of a mid 40s fighter with a lifestyle of partying and binge drinking still being the top anchoring fighter of the premier mma promotion of the world, who probably didn't even has his career flourish until at late 30s.... if you ignore that logic, it is definitely a very solid mma film along with Warrior.

Stephen Dorff is an amazing actor, I loved him in Felon and Deputy. He was the only one holding Deputy together until it was too much to handle. (The show was bad due to bad writing)

Just watched it, and love it, IMDb score is to low, this movie has 💖, can't say this about many big movies these days.
If you like this movie, go watch Prayer Before Dawn, made me think of this, different kind of story (true story), but same kind of heart man, the struggle, keep on fighting, never give up on yourself!

Shame they had to resort to that silly father-son fight at the end, because up to then this film was compelling and very well acted! Steven Dorff was flat out brilliant in his role! This was a great film with a dumb ending!

as a parent, the suspension of disbelief only goes so far.
the World is against fathers, notice the mother wants the son to kill the father - actually it is the mother who turned the son against the father because she left him and didn't believe in the father who had nothing, And thats what the film is about Mothers turning the son against the father

Believe me, it is better to not have a father, than having a father like him. I know it is for sure difficult to think about it. Why he left and so on. But having a father like him, hating on his own son, Doesn't give him any money at all when he is rich, is so much worse mentally for a kid. I don't know if you saw the movie but this guy was beating up his kids and had alcohol problems. That is so much worse my friend. It is better for you that way, even if you miss him and even if you want some attention from him, in the future you can try to be a better father for your own kids. Be there for them when they need you, in a good way so you can grow stronger from all of your difficulties. Everything happens for a reason. God bless you and I really hope that you understand what I'm trying to explain here.
