Melbourne Florida is part of The Space Coast. Home to Eastern Florida State college and the famous FIT (Florida Institute of Technology), College of Science, College of Psychology and Liberal Arts, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Jay College of Health Sciences, Educare Envision College of Nursing, Florida Tech Research Park and the Center for Aeronautics and Innovation, among many other smaller colleges and schools. It is an industrial area, with miles and miles of shopping and restaurants. Many tech companies make their home here.
Melbourne sits on the Indian River which is home to many restaurants on the river and night life. There is many sections to the City, some include a Downtown, Historic, Art District, West Melbourne, Beach Side and inland. Melbourne consists of over 70 Miles of beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. Brevard County Florida is made up of Melbourne, Palm Bay, Titusville, Cocoa, Merritt Island, Rockledge, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Cape Canaveral, Melbourne Beach, Mims, West Melbourne, Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach, Port Saint John, Malabar, Grant-Valkaria, Micco, Palm Shores, Melbourne Village, Sharpe’s, Viera & Viera West, South Patrick Shores, Cocoa West, & June Park. With Tropical community Cocoa Beach being only 20 min away.
Kennedy Space Center & Space X is just a 30 min car ride from Melbourne, with some of the best views to watch space craft lift offs. Disney, Universal Studio's, Sea World, Aquatica Water Park and all the attractions of Orlando are only an hour away by car. The Melbourne Zoo is one of the highest ranked Zoo’s in The U.S. Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Victory, Carnival & Disney Cruise Lines all have a home at Port Canaveral Terminal. Melbourne International Airport is located in Melbourne, but Orlando International Airport is just under an hour away from Melbourne, making travel to and from Melbourne very easy.
Some of the best Schools and education programs in Florida can be found in Melbourne with strong efforts focused in Technology, Aerospace, Oceanography & Marine Biology.
Brevard County houses The USSSA Space Coast Complex which is a sports stadium that is 1.3 million square feet of turf on 85 acres.
Melbourne continues to be an attraction stop for comedians, bands, and traveling entertainment bringing in and hosting many events through the year. With The Ocean and Indian River right here, It is a Boating and beach community mixed with an industrial city. You will find boating, surfing, beach goers, and water sports to be everyday life here. Melbourne is a wonderful place to look at when considering moving to Florida.

Been here three years. Place is booming - kayaking, fishing, miles of open beach, great restaurants, international community, great schools, Disney45 mins away - basically the best kept secret in Florida. And it’s affordable. 🎉
Getting out of here in 2 weeks, pretty excited. God bless those who love Melbourne

Funny. I moved from Miami to Louisville a month ago. Cincinnati was on my short list as well.
Melbourne's like any place else if you got money there's plenty to do if not not so much !
Visiting with my French husband he was happy to find a French restaurant and a French bakery. There’s a German restaurant as well l rush Pubs, Cuban restaurant and so on. The beach was lovely and someone in the comments said no sea shells? I collected plenty of them that absolutely not true. There was a diverse crowd not just older people - overall I though it a lovely town with very clean beach. If you are middle class it’s very affordable.
Hell no.. most of it is a run down shit hole..

@@ximenasibila9801 it’s just a small mediocre town. It’s pretty miserable the sauna like heat from May-October, I am really not a beach lover and I don’t have outdoor hobbies.
Outside of those things it’s a really boring and somewhat tired and rundown area.
There is not a decent mall or shopping, restaurants are not too good unless you want something fried every meal. The housing is expensive for postage stamp lots and very little square footage, and it’s isn’t like your getting much from the area to live arms length from your neighbors.

It has some positives to, it’s all in your perspective and what your looking for.
If you are looking for certain things it can be a nice place. I just had different expectations coming in and I didn’t do my homework, so that’s my fault, not Melbourne’s

Notice the small group of shell's. Those are probably purchased at a shell shop or craft store. They are not prolific on the beach. Did you notice he didn't show you up close the houses? Most of the houses are expensive if you live in a nice part of town. We only have 1 mall with several strip malls. The next closest mall is in Viera--an upscale part of Brevard County.
Melbourne Airport services Delta Airlines plus UPS. UPS is international, thus they call Melbourne Airport International. When I fly, I always travel to Orlando. The drive is a little over 1 hour. The rest of the times given, ie., Cape Canarval is 1.5 hours away unless you drive over the speed limit.
Please pay attention to the warnings about sharks. Florida is either #1 or 2 when it comes to shark attacks. I saw that on National Geography several years ago.
In downtown Melbourne there are many great restaurants. Out of Melbourne in Titusville is DIXIE CROSSROADS a very nice and fresh restraunt. They have a Coy pond with many colorful fish. I can't say enough about this restrarunt, it is A+. And no, I don't work there. Another great restaurant is Hemingways. It's Cuban food and I love eating there.
Old Melbourne has Meg O'Malley Irish restaurant. The corn beef is A+. They have a variety of alcohol beverages. The rest of Old Town has quaint little shops and several bars.
The King Center is very nice. It's an all purpose entertainment center with popular singers and comedy groups.
Melbourne is full of senior citizens and they drive slow while the kids at the University drive over the speed limit. These kids use I-95 as the Daytona 500. If you drive with the flow of traffic; you will be speeding. Plus you could end up with a big fine.
Condos are popular. They range well under $200 for a 2 bedroom and 1.5 bathroom. Watch where you buy because we do have some not so nice areas here. HOA'S TYPICALLY RUN FROM $230 upward.
Melbourne is a quiet town and many restaurants close around 8 or 9.
If interested stay in LA Quinta Inn Viera. It is very clean and the breakfast is the sweetest deal in town--ala carte.

Melbourne is lovely ... there is so much to do around Melbourne..be it ... Disney... Kennedy space center..Coco beach ...St.Sebastian ..et etc ..take your pick ❤️
