In Japanese market, S580's WLTC fuel consumption highspeed mode is announced as 11.6km/L (27mpg, short wheelbase) and 11.4km/L (26mpg, long wheelbase) on brochure.
These officialy tested fuel consumption is nearly your real stage testing conclusion.

Charlie. With that complex gauge cluster in front of you it must have been a temptation to see if this S Class could do the test loop at 30,000 feet.

I'd like to mention that when the S is unlocked, you can press on the handle itself and they will pop back out- Only learned this from when a dealer did it.
