- Taking a look at the Sculpfun 20w 330 Pro Max laser with Lightburn controlled Air assist! This laser has some impressive cutting power while still being able to engrave with detail. I put it through my regular testing routine so take a look at what it can do!

If to want to have a small amount of airflow, there are two choices i can think of.
One is to put a small airflow valve inline between the pump and the machine, and another more controllable way would be to add a Y shaped airflow adaptor inline, and add a second smaller pump to bridge to the configuration and would even run quieter possibly whenever the machine is powered up.
If your Paul Mccartney, you hire someone to wave a fan at the machine whenever it is powered up.
Beatlemania fans can boost airflow because of the dancing movements, but they require to have also powered up a stereo.

For the focus knobs on my S30 I cut a 15mm circle with a 7.75 inner circle and squeezed them onto the knobs. Makes it much easier to adjust focus from the front.

Two years ago I had zero interest in these diode lasers. But wow have they come a long way and opened up the technology to more people with limited space and budgets!
@@Vintauri how durable they are? How much hours of work until diode needs to be changed?
This with variable air and the auto focus in the Two Trees setup would be perfection for a starter.
Even just a manual air flow adjustment would put this over the top! But I'd love to see a way to program that into the workflow in future versions of lightburn and laser hardware.
I just got my s30. Do you have any videos using the sculpfun with other materials besides wood?
The focus knobs would kill this for me unless you can get an aftermarket z-axis from like King Gubby. Not sure what they were thinking to even think that back in the back. Reaching around is such a time sync. And an annoyance. And it tells me if they didn't think that through, they likely have other issues they didn't think through.
Great review!!! I'm deciding between 33w or 20w. I dont need to cut only engrave. I would like the 33w but they dont offer the 400x400mm with the 33w.
If cutting material is not a top priority, then I’d save the cost difference and stick with a 10-20w unit.

I bought one last week and they've changed the airtube for a flexible rubber one. I think it's even longer then the one you use. For the rest it's all the same.

hi I bought the s30 pro max, I mounted it, I installed the swiych limit switches on the machine but they don't work for me, do I need to activate them? then the laser cannot do automatic homing to bring it automatically to 0.

Thank you for the video. I am planning on getting an S30 Pro Max soon. A quick question pls ; Can the Laser on the Pro Max 20W be upgraded to the 33W just in case there's a need for some additional cutting power? Thanks.
I think the 33w has a bigger power supply. I’m not sure if they use the same controller board as well. In theory you should be able to but it really depends on the board being able to handle the extra wattage.
This is also a concern if wanting a heavy weighted laser on the sculpfun extension frame kit but not if you use a lighter weight laser than the 33w version. It could work, but it would have to be slowly ran to cope with the limitations of the stepper motors. I bought a s30 ultra with the 33w, and also the extension frame kit though will have to do some mods to make it happen, because the ultra uses a slightly more powerful torgue spec to its stepper motors than the previous iderations of the S series of frameworks. Also a extension cable will be required, at least until sculpfun gets to making such upgrade options available to their customer base to keep them with sculpfun products rather than having to venture to other manufacturers. They could stock a controller card or selection of, and stepper motors and extension cables and other upgrades to these 20/20 based machines.
If we all encourage them, they just might adopt such a template, really capturing the open source community by removing any potential bottlenecks.
I may eventually order or make some longer axis rails, it would be nice to place a 4x8 sheet of material down onto the work area! I have seen 20x20 aluminum frame extrusions that are longer, longer than even 5ft. Very cool mods to wallboards could occur for custom home interiors this way.

Why did you make a holder for the focus block when you would prefer a swing down foot. Wouldn't have been any harder to make one...
Where did you get your enclosure? I recently bought the sculpfun s30 ultra 30w. My issue is I can't find an enclosure to work. It's approximately 36"×36" area to cover. That would enclose the air assist. I also purchased the the rotary attachments. So it needs to be taller also.
The one in this video is the Comgrow Large enclosure which is basically a 3D printer tent. It's too small for the Sculpfun ultra at 36" x 36". This is one issue the diode laser manufacturers seem to overlook when they extend their lasers. Creating a safe enclosure for their machines seems to be an afterthought.
Does this laser machine cut acrylic sheet? If yes what is the maximum thickness to cut. And also what should I put under the honeycomb metal to be protected from laser burn, I mean it may burn or cut the things under it.
The wavelength of diode lasers will only allow it to cut opaque darker colors. Realistically anything more than 1/4" will be difficult to cut consistently. Clear or transparent will not work with a diode laser and you'll need a co2 to cut it. I use a steel or aluminum sheet under the honeycomb panel to protect the base, and most panels come with a piece of sheet metal for this purpose.

How come laser engraved in "left-right" mode on 18:26?
It's was not drawing lines like usual.
Was that image mode?
This was a raster image that I imported so it was scanning across instead of drawing lines.
Can you please let me know what is the assembled height of the laser, including the top limit switch? Thanks!
The height is 8" at the top of the upper limit switch.

One of the best laser in performance but has the worst design flaws ever.. I’m suffering with the laser head cleaning. The design team work separately and do not design their products to interact with each other. They don’t have a vision to what they want in the future. I’ve asked repeatedly for enhancements but don’t get any feedback.
