I am 18 and its my biggest dream to own such a watch...its got so much more class to it than a stupid apple watch or smth like it...A Carrera Calibre 5 is my ultimate dream
Love Tag. Unlike with watch snobs, tag is considered high luxury in India and people buy these for wedding presents (or even dowry). Whatever rich watch snobs might say, the fact remains that a watch is supposed to make you feel good. And here tag heuer does just that.
I always remember back in my youth, everyone knew the tag heuer brand. There is something about the brand that I have loved for years and inspite of the hate, they do produce fantastic watches. I'm not a lover of the quartz options though. The watches do make you feel good. I have a formula one calibre 5,a green oris aquis and I have just bagged a blue longines hydroconquest which I love to bits.
I was debating over this watch, the longines hydroconquest and the oris aquis and I ended up getting the Tag. The longines looked too simplistic and the oris was too thick and chunky. The Tag had the perfect balance of looks for me which is why I chose it over the others.
My brother got me this watch for a best man gift. I wear it almost every day, it reminds me of a submariner but is different enough to be unique. The dial is so beautiful and the bracelet is so comfortable and looks fantastic
I tried this against the Oris Aquis which I know is the favourite at this price, but the Aquis was so chunky in comparison and as an F1 fan I had to go for the Tag. Great vid, thanks for showing it some love
I love tags, I've had 2 In my life. I had an f1 with a velcro strap when I was 16 and got a Kirium when I was 21. I'm 39 now and still miss my Kirium, it was a beautiful watch. I've just bought a ray 2 which I really like, but will likely be wearing a tag again very soon 🙌
When ppl knock this company... Have they never seen the 1960's Carrera chronographs. I realise that was just Heuer, but either way it's one of the most beautiful watches ever made.
I definetly cannot understand why some so called watch collectors and/or reviewers critizes TH so much...quality,design,horologycal.history and,in this case,affordability....great time piece and excellent review, Bruce!
In my experience, the overwhelming majority of people that hate on TAG have never handled one much less owned one. They are just following the crowd and regurgitating what they have read on message boards and been told by the "real watch people". TAG makes good watches at a decent price.
Thank you for an excellent, un-biased review on the Tag Heuer F1 Automatic. Although I've always loved watches I'm actually new to the world of finer luxury brands. My first step into this arena was buying a Tissot Gentleman Silicum 80 w/the exquisite blue dial and adding a nice, custom black leather strap. Granted, Tissot is a long way from Rolex but, it was a decent starting point for a rube such as myself. My next big purchase was my Breitling Avenger 43, black dial w/black calf-skin strap. The leather strap matches up beautifully w/the dial. I prefer stainless bracelets over straps but, w/the Breitling it was about the aesthetics. I love cars & F1 & GT racing so, I've been drawn to the Tag Heuer Formula 1 automatic watches. I like the simple but handsome looks of the Formula 1s and for around $2000 an F1 would be great for everyday wear. Again, I understand Tag Heuer isn't a Rolex but, all of us cannot afford a $25K-$35K entry-level Rolex. Also, I really, really want a Rolex Submariner w/classic black dial & off-white markers in the stainless. That's the watch I'm working toward. Thanks again, great video.
Seems crazy that for that price, you can't get a milled clasp. Hamilton can do it for way less. I know most people don't care about that as much as me, but I am who I am.
I waited to listen to Bruce’s full review before commenting to see if the overall specifications would warrant a stamped clasp. My conclusion, it does not.
tag heuer uses selita sw 200 basic unfinished movements with cheap plastic spacers holding the movements inside the cases, also in the aquaracers, 26 jewels. these watches look good, i like the designs
My first Swiss watch is an Aquaracer, great watch. It was downhill from there because it developed my interest for watches and now I am always thinking about whats the next watch to buy, Zenith El Primero or GS Snowflake? Maybe something cheaper like a Tudor Black Bay? This goes on and on and on.

And last but not least I think it's just too big. 41mm would be perfect imho. Besides that I would definitely add this to my collection! Because generally I do like the elegant-sporty TAG Heuer style. The whole brand is really difficult to rate. On one side they are kind of underrated but on the other side I do understand why many people just don't like the brand...

The stamped clasp just puts me off so much. It's like throw the $10 at it Tag.. if I spend more than $300 - $500 on a watch, a milled clasp is kinda expected. Hamilton, Tissot they all have a nice milled clasp for so much less.
Hey guys! I’m looking at this watch but haven’t been able to try it on, just wondering what is the weight of this watch? I prefer a watch on the heavier side
Little thing, but that "formula 1" just cheapens it a little...tacky...but the rest is sort of decent(ish)... on a different note, have a look at Smiths Time factor watches... more affordable (hard to get) but sweet
Tag Heuer has upgraded the clasp on this model, so this watch can be purchased with good quality milled clasp in TH shops now. I suppose the whole Formula1 line has got milled clasps while Aquaracers are equipped with the new quick adjust clasps.
Honestly I don't know. But if it is in the Aquaracer which is a step above this, logic would say its not out of line to assume it is in the formula one. I've asked Sinn and Watchbuys to lend in watches for review but they are not interested. The only Sinn videos from me will be lent in by viewers or my own purchases

The 38hr power reaerve is criminal in 2020. The bezel is too busy. Overall fit and finish does not justify price. But if you GOTTA have a Tag in this price bracket get the Aquaracer.
Power reserve doesn’t mean anything for most people who buy this watch - usually they don’t have massive collections and so can wear it daily like I do with mine
Same specs by a microbrand costs $800. $1k just for a (questionable) brand? I don’t think so. Do you really? Thanks fellow bracelet fan, love your videos.
I think that you always pay a premium for a big brand over a micro brand. If you compare specs, you will usually get a better deal with a well-made micro brand. But I don't knock a company for prestige pricing. Rolex is the king of this. That being said, I have a Tag Aquaracer and a 90's Professional quartz, both of which I love. Aslo, you can get these watches for way under MSRP.
@@pbuehner 120% upmark for a Tag run-off-the-mill sub though is a special case. Rolex makes watches of a quality and with in-house movements that microbrands don’t offer (so I’m told). Not that I would buy one.
@@ulifluhme I agree with you for the most part. Just to continue the discussion, you can get an in house movement from Oris now for about 4 grand. Is three times that price worth a Rolex Sub? I think a lot of that value comes from the brand name. Cheers! Happy holidays to you and yours.
@@pbuehner of course the brand name is the majority of the value. The issue I have with this particular Tag is that I can get that exact quality from many micro brands for a third of the price. It's much harder to get a $4k watch with in-house movement from a microbrand. Oris might not be Rolex but it's also a brand.
People knock tags but they still fetch a fair price 2nd hand on eBay. Some of the very early formula ones, from the mid 80s are fetching more money now , than they were new. I've owned tons of different brands but never a tag, but I have to say they always look good on the wrist. I prefer the aquaracer more though than the formula 1 models. Good review as always Bruce.
I have a quartz beater formula 1 tag heuer that was gifted to me. Tag needs to sharpen their brand. If they make 1.5k automatics and also 5,000 automatics with the same calibre 5 movement they come across as all over the place. They are literally trying to be all things to all people. Either phase down the cheap formula 1 line and be a player in the $2500-4500 segment (autavia, carrera, ceramic acquracer etc) or phase out the collectors models and be a low level 1k-2k brand like Oris, longines, raymond weil. This is why despite decent quality watches they are laughed at by true watch people. Scatter brained.
@@juancastanos7685 I don't understand. If a mall watch is a watch you can buy at the mall than every brand is a mall watch outside of online only brands.
Sorry but chinese manufacturers sell a watch for under a hundred buck with better specs and movement including milled clasps. Tag are just cutting corners to maximise their profits but keep advertising themselves as luxury.

21.5mm lugs. They really want to make life difficult 😂
I have the Formula 1 White face
The 38hr power reaerve is criminal in 2020. The bezel is too busy. Overall fit and finish does not justify price. But if you GOTTA have a Tag in this price bracket get the Aquaracer.
Power reserve doesn’t mean anything for most people who buy this watch - usually they don’t have massive collections and so can wear it daily like I do with mine
No pip. Stamped clasp. QA issues. 1500 bucs? What a joke. Tons of better watches out there for that price. Tons.
The only thing more satisfying than contributing towards the channels success by clicking that "Like" button, is being the 69th Like... Nice.
You are the man
First, also great video by the way
Same specs by a microbrand costs $800.
HOW MUCH IS IT IN BRITISH £££
You should be able to get this for $1k, and for $1k it’s great. Makes a good graduation gift or a step up from a Seiko
For 1k it’s def a nice watch but so is the oris aquis and Longines Hydroconquest
Ref Nr. Please
ETA movement in TAGs...not since 2014...laughs in Selitta...
I could not rock a quartz tag. I don't think they are worth the money.
For this price i can buy 3 steinhart watches :-)
I enjoy your review but you give way too much love to Tag Heur
the watch you buy in the mall when you dont know nothing about watches
That means you know something about watches.
@@SirStamford27 my first good watch was a Tag Heuer
@@juancastanos7685 I don't understand. If a mall watch is a watch you can buy at the mall than every brand is a mall watch outside of online only brands.
@@SirStamford27 : Too funny. Ironic slip... the double negative is probably lost on Juan Castanos.
I know of two ADs in malls where I can buy a Rolex and Patek. You're statement proves you don't know shit about watches.
Sorry but chinese manufacturers sell a watch for under a hundred buck with better specs and movement including milled clasps. Tag are just cutting corners to maximise their profits but keep advertising themselves as luxury.
300 $ quality for 1800 $...a good deal! 🤭🤓
$300 quality... really? Apart from dubious micro brands, where would you find this for $300?
@@edteach3r this is a typical statement from a TAG hater that knows nothing about the brand. Just keep scrolling past this guy.
Typical ignorance
