Thank about that was lovely, I do wish the younger generation were so self centered, they think their lives are so more inportant, am glad I was brought up that way I loved to make any elder happy just a hello can change a day.
There are elderly people everywhere who need a smile or a short conversation just to make a bright spot in their day, take a moment to say hello and ask how they are, it will make you both feel good. If you want to do more donate to your local food pantry or senior center. Many seniors are truly alone all over this world. Young folks don't realize what it is to see your friends and family pass away, a friend of mine who was 98 said the hardest part of being that age was being the last one alive in his group of friends. He was a gem to talk to, full of stories of life and wisdom. Just a moment can make a difference.
Lovely. And it's always such a treat to have a good story that isn't a murder mystery, detective/ crime thriller or horror ( which I avoid like the plague) wish there were many more like this. Has Chesterton radio come to the end of his stock of BBC dramas does anyone know?
Totally agree. I don't know why most stories like this are ghost and murder mysteries. I like to watch those but not to listen as bedtime stories. It can take ages to find a nice drama to go to sleep to.
Synopsis: Fifteen year old Andy Dairn is taking a Social Services class. The Fall term is the "Grannies term". He is assigned to assist a Mrs. Deans. What he is soon to find out is that she is a force to be reckoned with!
Very enjoyable story!!! Spoiler alert It starts with such a clever sociological representation -- the modern man is obsessed with work and places only a slight interest in forming relationships with other people even with people who are important in his life, such as his employer. Busy, busy, numb, numb. Also the story is depicting a peer group culture, and that young people are often rude especially to the elderly.
Thanx Uncle Chesterton....That was brilliant.

I wasn't sure at the beginning but it became an excellent play. The 2 leads were great, but especially Mrs Dean. She gave a perfect performance.
Nice story that kept you interested and listening. Sad but strong.

Vile reference to sexual abuse at one point, totally unnecessary, shame Alick!
