To be honest I don’t see s problem with the supermarkets closing every Sunday. People aren’t going to starve in a day are they? Trouble with people today is they can’t plan ahead. I’m a pensioner, I get my pension fortnightly & I shop for a fortnight, so the only thing I ever need to top up on is milk & bread. When I worked I shopped once a week. Last thing I wanted to do with my weekend was shop. I know someone people work shifts, but they can still fit a shop in on a day other than Sunday. Let’s give the shop workers a day off, after all they don’t get Good Friday or Easter Monday off do they? As for the BBC, when they had no or little competition, it was easy to enforce the licence, but people’s viewing habits have changed over recent times, plus many people are tired of their bullish attitude, woke news & programmes, so their easy ride is nearly over.
I think all major supermarkets should shut on su days like they used to do. This will allow a chance for all the small independent shops to do some decent trade.
You are right, I looked through the comments to see if anyone had picked up on this. It has been law for decades, big shops are not allowed to open Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
In the 1960's the BBC used to make you pay for a radio licence for your car radio, although we only listened to the pirate stations. As nobody bothered to pay the BBC gave up on the idea, so you can see where this may go if enough people stop paying TV tax.
I removed the implied right of access 2 years ago and got them to stop sending letters on the basis that it's harassment, however they have just started up again with letters saying my no license needed declaration has expired. I've updated my declaration but I'm curious where I stand with these new letters. Will they resume harassment again unless I send another legalese letter instructing them to stop?

The only reason the Supermarkets will be closing on Easter Sunday is that they have to, believe me if they could they would. When Sunday opening was permitted under Labour people were told that to work was optional nobody would be forced to work which was true but what really happened was contracts were changed volunteer to sign new contract or be given 90 days notice.

any idea if the premium rate gambling lines (competitions) ITV have been pushing on every show for years count as advertising, product placement, or something else ?
Hello there why don't they listen to people who have leaning disabilities on benefits where would we get the extra money from becausei it very very hard to find that much cash because do they think we are made of money
i dont understand the fuss about shops shutting for easter ?. i went into my local co-op on new years day a few years ago and someone said to a staff member "i didnt think you would be open today" , and they replied "we only have to shut on two days a year xmas day and easter sunday".
At long last I've done it. I cancelled my TV Licence. A little worried but like you say if you don't use it bin it. Only trouble is I can't contact them directly. So I sent an email and got an automated reply and cancelled my Direct Debit.

The BBC & Licence Fee is outdated; it is pure extortion against the majority of the public wishes. The BBC should be made a subscription Chanel for the ‘Songs of Praise’ lovers. When will the government or any political party listen to the public?

Hi, Jon. Just a quick message about what is good for a hangover: I find that drinking too much the night before usually does the job. Have a good one and, many happy returns to your sis.
The BBC's wholly owned private company, BBC Studios, makes £3billon profit a year so that's on top of the £3 billion from the licence fee. ITV does not need an outside company to market its products because it can be done in house. So ITV's total income includes the money they make from marketing as well as ad revenues.

Has anyone ever considered that IF you paid the T.V. Tax until 2022 and then stopped that you could not watch the programmes which you had paid for to be made. Imagine paying for a car and then being told you could not drive it... Please remember that you have to pay the BBC to watch ITV and the other channels... Be cool if ITV started to put all their programmes on their player prior to broadcast which would allow non payers of the T.V. Tax to watch all their stuff...
Under government rules, shops larger than 280 square meters must remain closed on Easter Sunday. That means that all major supermarkets, such as Asda, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Lidl will be closed for the day. No story to be had here. 😂
Its amazing! that in UK, you have to pay a licence to watch commercial TV, in Australia we ended that crap over 50 years ago no one even knows what that is anymore? a licence for free to air ? its amazing to have to pay to watch the propoganda they dish up i would rather watch the grass grow if we had to pay. There is so much more interesting things to watch on demand if you need to pay for a service, rather than to pay for forced viewing what they dish up This is nothing more than a TAX ( money for jam) especially for people that cannot even afford proper living conditions. you would as a government feel empathy for them and make the (stupid box) viewing free of charge in this day and age.
I hate supermarkets being open on sundays, its just not right for staff to have to work on a sunday, everyone used to look forward to a lay in on a sunday.
I worked for the Railway twenty years of working an 18 hour Saturday night / Sunday shift virtually every weekend. For some jobs working the weekend is necessary.
When the licence was introduced in 1946, it cost £2. Taking £2 in 1946 and bringing it up to date to 2023's value brings it up to around £55. Just like today, it wasn't worth it back then either!

When Sunday opening was permitted under Labour people were told that to work was optional nobody would be forced to work which was true but what really happened was contracts were changed volunteer to sign new contract or be given 90 days notice.
I cancelled my license last year,so far so good, letters etc but no goons as yet,Why can't u watch ITV,ch4&5 which are financed by advertising, and absolutely nothing to do with the BBC... Ozzy 👍
Because itv channel 4 and 5 are part of the TV licence. It is a lesser per cent but it all adds up
any idea if the premium rate gambling lines (competitions) ITV have been pushing on every show for years count as advertising, product placement, or something else ?
Hahaha, they are on about putting the licence fee up, they can double it for all I care, then I will be saving twice as much😂😂😂😂
Loving this fireside chats...better than a green screen.
Jon check out the owner on land registry. Contact them. They may not be away of the delay.
Lineker probably never saw the refugee, he would have stuck him in the West wing!!😄
I work in retail and major stores shut every easter Sunday, (that and Xmas day are the only 2 days a year they are required to close)!!❤
My washer Conked out on me it was an E03 error I looked on tube, filter blocked so I had a look, filter clean as a whistle.... this is were my day went bad, I thought I wonder if it's a blocked Ubend under the sink so I undid the Ubend to give it a clean, as soon as I did I found out the only thing holding the Ubend to the underside of the sink was the fact it was wedged between that and a shelf, so it all fall away now I am lucky that my ex wife's Hubby is a Plumber and he cam and sorted the whole thing out, he did Great Job !!
(now if you have trouble sleeping tonight come and re-read my Sinking Story) Your looking a lot better Jon..
Thanks golden boy.
Many none food stores have always closed on Easter Sunday. It's good Tesco etc are closing.
The BBC & Licence Fee is outdated; it is pure extortion against the majority of the public wishes. The BBC should be made a subscription Chanel for the ‘Songs of Praise’ lovers. When will the government or any political party listen to the public?
I’ve never bought a tv license in my life
Local radio IS a total waste of money
Hi jon
Such a heart warming story on the guitar hope you find it mate my mum passed 2 years ago know what yiu went through
that's a lovely archtop Jon, almost bought a Hofner Congress a few months back but bottled it. Any chance of a guitar vid? BTW, hope you find your Dad's guitar, funny if someone watching this has it
Yeah sounds good, this summer when your doing your traveling around. If your up near Sheffield give me a shout.
I love our local Sheffield BBC radio. Their presenters are really great and tackle local issues. Toby Foster was absolutely integral in helping the corruption of the council be aired during the street tree campaign.
You should do Stelvio pass and Klausen pass on a BMW GS, did a tour last year to the Dolomites
Is there a letter I can copy to send to them to cancel my license
I am nearly 60 and when I was about 22 I was actually fined £1000 for not having one
Fill in the no license needed deceleration form online or phone them
Hi, Jon. Just a quick message about what is good for a hangover: I find that drinking too much the night before usually does the job. Have a good one and, many happy returns to your sis.
Lol
I think you should give us a song next video, you'll need to get the practice in for tbe Scottish pubs. Great vid cheers!
The BBC's wholly owned private company, BBC Studios, makes £3billon profit a year so that's on top of the £3 billion from the licence fee. ITV does not need an outside company to market its products because it can be done in house. So ITV's total income includes the money they make from marketing as well as ad revenues.
😂😂😂 that did make us laugh about you mum coming round and reorganised your cupboards, just classic 👍🏻👍🏻😂
Hi Chille you seem to like weatherspoons, well good news there is one in my town I’ve been in there a couple of times. First time I had steak and chips lovely it was. The second time half the items on the menu weren’t available. I haven’t been back since. I go to my local curry house foods delicious. P .S. I live near lochlomond.😊
Yeah great Gary, took in a vetted uni going tyke for twenty days. wonder if he`d take in a total unknown?
Has anyone ever considered that IF you paid the T.V. Tax until 2022 and then stopped that you could not watch the programmes which you had paid for to be made. Imagine paying for a car and then being told you could not drive it...
Please remember that you have to pay the BBC to watch ITV and the other channels... Be cool if ITV started to put all their programmes on their player prior to broadcast which would allow non payers of the T.V. Tax to watch all their stuff...
BC Rich Warlock Bronze Edition.....amazing guitar for shredding and looks the part!
thanks, I'll take a look
Not all shops will be closed at Easter, the same as Christmas.
Under government rules, shops larger than 280 square meters must remain closed on Easter Sunday. That means that all major supermarkets, such as Asda, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Lidl will be closed for the day.
No story to be had here. 😂
Outdated law!
Ow dear the supermarkets are shut for one day how will we cope lol
Its amazing! that in UK, you have to pay a licence to watch commercial TV, in Australia we ended that crap over 50 years ago
no one even knows what that is anymore? a licence for free to air ? its amazing to have to pay to watch the propoganda they dish up
i would rather watch the grass grow if we had to pay.
There is so much more interesting things to watch on demand if you need to pay for a service, rather than to pay for forced viewing what they dish up
This is nothing more than a TAX ( money for jam) especially for people that cannot even afford proper living conditions.
you would as a government feel empathy for them and make the (stupid box) viewing free of charge in this day and age.
I am at the NEC Jon. :)
Not certain I’m going yet
If I do I’ll put in the community tan on here
I hate supermarkets being open on sundays, its just not right for staff to have to work on a sunday, everyone used to look forward to a lay in on a sunday.
poor people working on a sunday, in my jobs i had to work on xmas & new years day, people should be lucky even having a job
I worked for the Railway twenty years of working an 18 hour Saturday night / Sunday shift virtually every weekend. For some jobs working the weekend is necessary.
On your tour come up to King's Lynn - we have a great Wetherspoons and they don't sell Doom Bar pie!!
Jon, I've done the NC500 on a motorbike and did the camping lark.
You need to try it on a bike mate.😁
I hear the cafes & other eateries up there are taking the mick on extortionate price for meals?
@@Lee_303 did it a few years ago, so wouldn't be able to comment on the prices now.
I would add that it was quite reasonable when I went.
Doing my bike test this year soon as the weather gets better.
I might need a few years of experience before I do that though
@@ChilliJonCarne you'll love it. Trust me.
Under the Sunday trading laws all shops which are permitted to open for 6 hours MUST close on Easter Sunday.
Everything looks good.
Well play to him. B.'S.
HE PAID THEM.
Ahhh. Its the classic car show at the NEC.Already watched some uploads.Loads of great fords there.
When the licence was introduced in 1946, it cost £2. Taking £2 in 1946 and bringing it up to date to 2023's value brings it up to around £55. Just like today, it wasn't worth it back then either!
The very first guitar I bought in 1963 was a Hofner Senator. I got that and Bert Weedon's book, Play with Yourself in a Day. Yeh! - Bobby Shaftoe. 🤣
