Hey folks, Evan went out the next weekend and caught 3!!! Go to his channel to see how he did it. Way to go Evan! Sucks I couldn't be there to see it first hand.
@@SteveOllice sweet thanks for peeping! I had transferred to app state at the end of 2020. I'm coming down soon to put some more inshore kayak videos together. Cheers🍻
Michael, I am using a 3000 Penn Battle II reel on an 8 foot medium heavy surf casting rod. Out of all the shorter rods I have used before, that 8 foot gives me the leverage to cast farther and pull harder on that Blabbermouth cork. Especially from the low position of sitting in a kayak. The reel has 20 lb power pro braid and I run 50 lb mono or flouro from the cork to the jig. The jig needs to be 1/4 ounce with a stout hook and you can put just about anything on the jig that represents a menhaden. I really like DOA Airheads, but as you can see in the vid, the blue fish will steal the tail. That’s when I put on a ZMann 6 inch new penny scented jerk shad.
Great video man! I live in Raleigh and I go to New Bern to catch Reds in my Kayak. Actually, I’m going tomorrow. Where on the Neuse are you fishing at? I want to catch my first bull from my yak too.
Hello Shaun, I was out there on Saturday too. No luck this time. I would suggest the public boat ramps at Oriental, Dawson's Creek or the South River. Telling you where I caught them on any particular day doesn't really matter because they get around. Best bet is to find the bait they are feeding on.
@@SteveOllice Hey Steve, thanks for the advice! I did well! I caught 3 Reds, 3 flounder, 1 white perch, 1 speckled trout, and my PB. A 31 inch striper!
@@shaunhenderson2071 Congrats Shawn!!! I've been 4 times this season and no bulls for me yet. I did get into some fish yesterday and caught some awesome footage. I'll post it soon.
Great pro tips! Thanks
Great stuff man! Was awesome to fish with you and learn from you that day. I’ll be back soon to try again!

Met you today at HLP. Very nice talking with you. Great videos. Looking forward to fishing with you in the fall.
Really nice meeting you Troy. I wouldn’t mind meeting up at Trails End or Fort Fisher this summer either.
@@SteveOllice Anytime. Just let me know.
Great tips ! Going Wednesday Pamlico River
Let me know how you do!
@7th_evan brought me to your channel, that's a dirty fight with a 41 incha! Tight lines buddy 👊🏻
