Lenny's playing is terrifyingly good. Watched an old lesson on UA-cam where he showed his high A 7-string. Tripped me out. Those jazz cats are on a whole other level.
thank you, these insights are very helpful. For those who are interested, Lenny Breau was writing for Guitar Player Magazine from 1981 to 1984 according to google.
David! Your vids just get better!!! Lenny was a gentle giant in the true sense ... I recall hearing his cover of Mercy Mercy Mercy ... I was stunned when he moved into flamenco style playing with complete ease... a troubled life with a tragic end, but what a singular musician and legacy body of work. Many thanks!
David - Serious props for taking on a lesson about Lenny Breau's chord playing. This could deserve a part 2 even (e.g. voice leading, chord substitutions and quartal harmony). Been a fan of Lenny since the late 1970s. Where do you start how great Lenny was.
I have a classical teacher friend that loves Lenny Breau. He turned me on to his music about 10 years ago. Super interesting, different kind of style. Sad about his tragic end. From what I’ve read, he struggled with substance abuse issues that may have contributed to an untimely death.
Happy christmas/New year David ,I have found ,so many artists[guitarists.bands ,through your channel, you should have at leasr rwice the subs ,you have ,so much ,knowledge ,and enthusiasm, may it continue for as long as you wish it.
Tommy Emmanuel talks about his first visit to Nashville in an interview and meeting Chet Atkins at his office. Chet said something like "I have the greatest guitar picker currently walking this earth up in the office and I want you to meet him." That was Lenny Breau
I’ve got a Lenny CD recorded in 1961 and guess who the rhythm section is? Rick Danko and Levon Helm! BTW, Lenny probably should’ve stayed in Canada, or anywhere else but the US, where getting murdered seems to be an occupational hazard.
I’ve been listening to the man for 50 years I’ve never heard anyone pronounce his name the way you do so just pointing that out it’s not ber-o. It’s pronounced bro
Thanks for keeping his guitar legacy alive! Great lesson. 😊

Another killer lesson!! Thanks and happy holidays!
I was lucky enough to see Lenny and Larry Coryell back in the mid 70’s.
I studied with Bob Thompson who studied with Lenny in Portland Maine- a legend
Pretty cool lesson. I attended the Lenny Breau school of music for over a year, Lenny’s son Chet.
Merry Christmas Sensei David and a happy and productive new year. Great lesson , as usual.
Wow. What a great lesson! Very useful
The smooth tones in this lesson made my day. Happy holidays, David ❄️🌲❄️

the Lenny Breau Archives UA-cam channel is amazing
Such a compelling lesson. Many thanks and MerryChristmas.
Beautifull guitar, superb lesson. Keep up the good work, big fan.
This is going to be a tough but amazing educational lesson! Thank you Dave! Lenny truly earned the CGP Title.
David hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year🎅🏻🎅🏻🎉🎉!!
Great episode! My playing has improved from things you teach in your videos! Thanks!
Now THIS is a deep dive. Very cool indeed Mr. B :)
Wow I haven't thought about Lenny in years...Thanks David.

Randy Bachman, who does some good jazz stuff, always mentions Lenny as one of his influences.
He took lessons from Lenny.
They were both from Winnipeg eh!
Incredible guitarist
All the best wishes to you for 2025 David!
You’re a brave man 🍺’ski Ty!
Please do an episode where you review your legendary cap collection!
(Cap as the thing you wear on your head)
Btw great lesson!
My mom grew up with Lenny. She said he was an amazing guitar player in junior high school.
He and Randy Bachman were childhood friends. Randy credits Lenny for Manny lessons.
Love the work as always, can you do bill frisell?
Where's your seventh string? 😆 🤘👍happy holidays, thank you as always!
It’s Breau like “bro”
Lenny Breau = ubergoat
Hey @Late Night Lessons...I was wondering if you've ever done a super group month? It would be cool if you did Cream, Them Crooked Vultures etc etc
His little brother Denny runs a local open mic. Great players. Rip Lenny.
I've seen him at brays and Lenny's he's a hell of a player

Teacher extrordinaire . You.
Hi, It would be great if you could show some of that stuff in tab, not sure exactly where your fingers are , whether its chords or lead.
LENNY♥️
MONSTER.
My only issue with this lesson is you didn’t wear a kimono 😂

I wasn't familiar with Lenny, but his style reminds me of Jim croce and Maurie Muehleisun... I wonder if Lenny was not an influence on them...
Breau = Bro
Thanks that was bugging me too.
I've heard it pronounced both ways and wasn't sure.
Thanks for the tip!
Yes the Franco heritage
