- Veggie Quest Part 8 - all hail the banana nut. He moves exactly like a knight in chess, and he's extremely difficult to manipulate. Am I up for the challenge? Well, at least sometimes I am.

This is the last "simple" character. Following worlds introduce more involved character abilities and obstacles which should be more to your liking, Tyler. The most mechanically interesting things are in the late-game levels though.

I have a very basic understanding of this game but once the water appears I have no idea what’s going on anymore.

Yeah, he had 2 gaps on that cycle and it was driving me nuts because he just kept going "hmm. got shorter". Yeah, there is an extra gap for your banana nut to go through (heh)

I think it would be neat if there was an assassin character that could kill rabbits by moving onto the same tile, but for them to win they have to defeat every rabbit on screen rather than get treasure. So you have to position the rabbits so they get killed as late as possible.

@@lorax2076 Then the boss would just say "People on Veggit are complaining its impossible". Solution should make it possible to kill all the rabbits, but take as long as possible. There could be puzzle solutions that involve preventing breeding. For example, the Assassin has to hit a gate switch to change a Rabbits movement pattern to stop it from breeding, making it possible to kill them all.

I could not solve any of these in my head. So I dont know if my advice will be usefull to find solutions more rationaly, BUT:
What if you think about the Banana Nut like its on a chess board. A knight will always switch colors after a move. And water will also always change the color of the position. Therefore hitting water from a jump will make it so that the Banana Nut will stay on the same color. Maybe with this logic it can be easier to make a maze where he always stays on the same "wrong" color until very far away there is a possibility to finally change the color.
Maybe this approach will be more rational and enjoyable to solve than just trial and error.

I think the 5x5 needs to be symmetrical in some fashion.
Because you can assume the carrot and the knight are interchangeable.
Either rotational or mirror symmetry.
My bet is mirror symmetry along the NW to SE diagonal as the line of symmetry

For bunny loop parity solutions, you find the longest route, take the shortest route (which is pretty easy to find) and step it by one step in time, aka moving the gap up by one on each cycle

I really wish the Water Tiles were just arrows instead. It becomes so hard to track the directions once there's a lot of them on screen.
You can tell very easily where to put the gaps in the bunny cycles (most of the time there are exceptions.) Just put it on the right cycle so that it instantly goes to the carrot then move all the gaps one forward in the cycle.
Tyler saying "carrot in the box" reminded me of Cats does Countdown 😂

it'd be cool if there was an different mode where you're trying to get them to the goal as fast as possible, the goal could be some sort of poisoned carrot and you have to get there with limited tile alteration and without letting them hit the real carrot(s)

If you want to find the slowest gap placement just check the fastest gap placement (take current gap moved by other gap timing -1 for the move itself) and move it one, which way depends on the offset, in this case the first gate was 10 and the second 11 so you would have to move it one along the line since the 11 gap shifts one up the line every time

All the pieces so far has been chess piece similar but the knight (actually the knight piece in chess) literally proves that it is.
Looking at the bana-knight's description just reminded me of how lemonade is made.
I wonder if there are any plans to refresh the Baba is You videos. Love them to death and with how good that game is, I would love to see them again.
