- Veggie Quest Part 5 - the full game is out! There's a ton of new puzzles, as I'm barely a quarter of the way through the game. The quality is just as strong as ever, I can't wait to see what else this game has to offer!

I'm impressed by the AI's pathfinding. How did you do it? It can't just be BFS, right? That would explode on long levels. How do you prove that some levels are unsolvable?
@@momom6197 I have the same question, how does the pathing work (and so quickly?!)
@@Coco2264 I mean, chess engines like Stockfish can process a fuck ton of different positions and possibilities on a processor thats pretty old, so It can't be impossible
@@momom6197BFS of some variety likely works fine. Since the paths are so limited for any good designs and poor designs significantly reduce the needed depth
@@Frn1chess engines don't do an exhaustive search they do something I think called alpha beta pruning which reduces the search space significantly. Just doing bfs without some sort of heuristic to improve the runtime would be costly

I get the feeling that's what working as a dungeon designer at Blizzard's was like. (Minus the fancy graphics, but that was handled by a different team)

One thing this game is sorely missing for me is telling you how many moves each carrot takes
that might spoil some of the puzzles? like if the optimal 3 carrot solution is a multiple of two primes, it spoils the cycle length of bunnies you need

@@boltstrikes429good point, but I would prefer it to show the number of moves as hints. for example, if a puzzle had:
1 carrot: 26 moves
2 carrots: 30 moves
3 carrots: 33 moves
it would show it as following:
1 carrot: 2? moves
2 carrots: 3? moves
3 carrots: 3? moves

@@carldablob324 hello fellow eft user. anyway i suggest this because lets say all three carrots were "3?", you would know that the expected goal is in the thirties and you wouldn't try to over optimize to the 40s to get all 3 carrots.
Sorry, but most of us aren't AIs that know how many moves a type of solution would take before testing it and finding out how many carrots it is anyway. Besides, over-optimizing is the spirit of the game.

me when seeing him play the level i'm stuck on: YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES,
They actually fixed the worst mechanic in the demo, absolute madlads.
EDIT: There was one map where no matter how you placed the bunnies you would get an impossible map, so it was basically guess and test if you created a valid map or not, it was terrible and a massive unfair difficulty spike since you had no way of knowing how the bunnies were going to interact and unlike previous maps you weren't able to 'half it' since one mistake would brick the entire map. This was fixed in the full release by allowing you to simulate the path before the round begins so you'll never be left in the dark on why they're randomly breeding endlessly because you were off-by-one on a single tile out of like 30 possible tiles.
