I met Christian Slater many years back in London after he did his play One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. He was very friendly and he signed a copy of Heathers saying, "Wow, old school". A lovely guy
Lucky. Meeting him in person is on my bucket list. My copy of Heathers also was lost several moves ago, I still got True Romance waiting for his autograph!
@Jack Strawb Good point. I didn't know he disappeared until this video. I just assumed I caught his appearances by happenstance.
Please.. His Mommy is a casting director.. His only accomplishment is doing Archer..
👍 Cool. I met Paul McCartney backstage working a show in Nashville Tennessee. I told my family and friends but never mentioned it publicly, Till now, just to prove a point. Name dropping = lame
@@That80sGuy1972 ... He's great in Dirty John season 2
I can't imagine Robin Hood being nearly as enjoyable without Slater. He and Alan Rickman knew what kind of movie they were in, and were just, "f-k it, I'm 100% in." And they were glorious.
Totally agree. "My lord, it appears there is no more room, I'm afraid I'll have to respectfully decline"
His "F**k me! He cleared it!" was the best blooper ever!
Alan Rickman was awesome in Robin hood he stole every Scene he was in
I cant imagine being named Christian in a progressively more godless society.
it just aint white !
Christian Slater aand morgan freeman and of course Alan Rickman made the movie. Not a huge fan of Kevin Costner.
Christian Slater is awesome. one of those under appreciated actors that deserve more recognition
Gotta respect this guy for hanging in there all these years. He is pretty darn good sometimes and has some really memorable characters.
I appreciate how he takes a lot of out there movies and despite a legendary number of flops, he still stays relevant somehow.
their
what blows me away is how movies that I remember like Heathers, Pump Up The Volume, True Romance were all flops at the time.
but i bought all the DVDs and kept rewatching them.
Very Bad Things.
You know, I wonder if these 'flops' just boil down to the movies being directed at GenX which was never a populous generation. Also we kept killing ourselves like Kurt :^/
As an 80's kid, I'm always happy to see Christian Slater show up on screen. He was great on Archer.
I concur. His run on Archer was phenomenal!
Yes he was I loved slater but don't call him MR slater...........
Archer was epic!
Ya, it's just Slater...
As a 90’s kid, I can watch True Romance any day. Love Broken Arrow too.
Pump Up The Volume deserves a lot more love. It never gets talked about.
Preach, it deserves more acclaim, much like Heathers!
Oh yeah, great soundtrack as well. If it weren't for Pump, would of never heard of the Pixies or Leonard Cohen!
Loved that film when I was a teen, but I don't think I've seen it since then. I'll have to dig it up for a rewatch.
@@celinahatton2653 Some of it is really dated, but it holds up.
I know right
True Romance was by far his best role, and one of my all time favorite movies. He was perfect for it. He always shines where there's heavy dialogue, which made me wish he had continued to do more work in Tarantino films. He seems perfect for that style of writing.
Mr Robot got him back in the good graces of Hollywood. He’ll keep going and be successful
You're so cool. 💘
I like you Clarence.
Always have, always will.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
He's had a remarkable career and life. It's amazing the breaks he's gotten in the film industry - with all of his drug and legal trouble (and box office bombs). A lot of people must have gone to bat for him to get past the roadblocks. He's certainly a survivor.
Christian Slater is one of my favorite young actors during the 90's, along with Kiefer Sutherland and Val Kilmer.
Yeah, when I was a teen I watched several films that they were in. That era I miss now.
Val Kilmer was 30 in 1990.
I'm a lifelong Christian Slater fan as well, but from the 80s to now. I was really worried he'd River Phoenix on us for a bit and threw a party when he pulled through. To this day, most of the people at that party still don't believe that's why I threw it.
@@discosecret6363 If you think 30 isn't young then you are extremely young, my friend.
Always thought he would have made an excellent vampire if ever they did a sequel to interview with a vampire.
Mr Robot is one of the best shows of all time and Slater was amazing in it!
Tru dat
i totally agree!!
i have to agree, he really nails it in mr robot alongside rami
He's still not the main character
Yea hes a great actor but like all actors there star dries up at some point and they get less work although he is going to be playing the main character in a Disney Plus series called the Spiderwick chronicles.
Brilliant actor, made some dud films but he has always been excellent even when the film hasn't. He deserves to be back on top
One thing I always appreciate about Christian Slater is that he always shows up for his films/shows. He's not phoning it in like some others do *cough* Bruce Willis *cough*.
Ummm, no he doesn't lol
Been obsessed with him for 23 years. Was so happy when he made an epic comeback in mr robot. 💜
Loved seeing him become a major character in Archer
Yeah, I even found out that Cu'o'ng's is a real bike rental place in Viet Nam (appropriate for a CIA agent) and they sell "as seen on Archer" shirts! I bought one and look forward to the day someone gets the joke. I think his "Slater" (it's a mono-name) is my favorite role of his.
It was great
Walk don run 1966 with Jim Hutton this was Cary grant final movie when daughter Jennifer was born
he was a master actor in Mr robot nothing but good thing's to say about it .
I concur. He's excellent in Mr Robot.
lol Christian Slater just kept "Pumping up the volume", "Gleaming the cube", "Interviewing the vampire" and "Assassinating the bullet".
His persistence paid off.
The world needs Gleaming The Cube 2!
Nice!
Well, guys that nice don't reject scripts because they are "below him." He gives every movie his all. If the movie flops, it ain't on him.
True romance
I'm very fond of Christian Slater. Had no idea he was in so many movies. What a hard working man even though he was in so many flops. His perseverance is commendable! Lots of respect for Christian Slater. And what a legendary hunk he is 😍 I find him to be quite attractive ❤️
When your girlfriend nags you about seeing romantic movies and you convince her to watch True Romance :)
Absolutely! That movie is one of my favorites!
Dude! Your stealing my move!
I own that movie because I love it. I also now own that for just that exact reason too.
@@Idontanswerquestionz you're
It always gets me in the mood
I love him!! "Pump Up The Volume" was watched many times at many sleepovers when I was young. "This is Happy Harry Hard-on reminding you to do your homework in the dark, and eat your cereal with a fork" 🤣🤣💖
I always loved the movie Kuffs(1992) ....Underrated movie that never gets mentioned with Christian Slater
Kuffs is awesome.
Classic
Look like a dork. heh. *tosses hat out window*
Senior year of high school, my friends and I went to see Kuffs in the movie theater. It was actually written by the guys who wrote Stand By Me and Mr. Brooks. We liked it and spent the rest of the year quoting Christian Slater.
That poor turkey.
i'm a fan and am glad he's still with us, out there keeping it real.
Same!!
"Oh yeah, he was in that, and that, and that," is virtually the definition of a character actor. They're the best man at the Hollywood wedding, an essential element who can make or break the experience, but is rarely the focus.
Great upload very interesting and yes Christian Slater is definitely an awesome actor👊🏻😁
Christian Slater is a nice guy. Met him in Hawaii when he was making windtalkers. He went around and talked to almost all the extras and played football with us :)
I'm glad I finally found someone else who appreciates the masterpiece that is"Hard Rain" as much as I do. I'm so happy I found this channel. In a desert of clickbait and gossip, your content is a thoughtful, funny, informative and masterfully done oasis.
I fucking love Hard Rain. I remember seeing the original trailers when it was called The Flood.
I actually think Hard Rain is one of the movies Christian Slater is in that I like most. Really enjoyed it.
Broken Arrow is underrated.
"Aint it cool!"
@Finn MacCool Yes it is.
Right there with face off and con air
@Finn MacCool It's thoroughly entertaining and full of memorable characters. John Travolta makes an excellent villain. It's got great set pieces and is a solid 80s action movie that released in the 90s.
Over-the-top and a great popcorn movie. If you're complaining about plot holes, you're looking at the movie all wrong.
Travolta is so bad in it, he's hilarious. Pretty bad movie overall.
I love this actor and I love this man.
I'm so happy he's finally getting his much deserved comeback and recognition. Great episode!
I personally refer to 3000 Miles to Graceland as "GTA the Movie" and I love it and will fight about it.
Hell yeah
In the 90s and early part of this century Slater was a star. But he's still working in movies and tv shows. After 3 decades he's still going strong, respect.
l really love “HARD RAIN", was actually an awesome underrated action flick
You say that again that was a great movie
Indeed
Same, I watched it with my pops back in the early '00s, id watch it again if I could.
Wait, I have that on dvd.....thats tonight sorted.
I watch it every time I see it
Was just on my channels last night.
Bounce network.
5:17 INCORRECT. Tony Hawk was in Thrashin' (1986) & Police Academy 4 (1987) before Gleaming the Cube
Broken Arrow is one of the most entertaining movies ever made.
I remember being a kid and seeing Slater in "Legend of Billie Jean" and thinking he was really something special and I hoped other ppl could see it. I was younger than he was but he just stood out.
How is it that I love both True Romance AND Untamed Heart? It's gotta be because of Christian Slater. Fun fact, he was named after the Marlon Brando character Fletcher Christian
Fletcher Christian was a real person. He was the the captain of the Bounty after the famous mutiny. Fletcher Christian settled Pitcairn Island, his descentents still life there.
@@motionpictures6629 Thanks for sharing! I truly didn't know that. I read an interview with Slater long ago and he had mentioned that his mother named him after Fletcher Christian. He specifically mentioned the movie but not that FC was a real person
The name of the rose is sssssooooooo underrated!!! Just give you an idea how awesome it is... Ron Perlman is in it!
Always cool. James Bond as Sherlock Holmes! F. Murray Abraham too!
I've only read the book. I need to remind myself to look up the movie.
Salvatore stupido!
That library in a labyrinth was outstanding .
One of my favorite movies. Love the medieval monastic atmosphere
Was always one of my favorite actors. Sad that he hasn't had many great shows/movies the last couple of decades.
Mr robot
@@patjers Literally anything after Mr.Robot
@@patjers One of the best shows ever. Such a false statement.
…The coolest f**kin hair…& as a kid in the 90’s, I never knew why the barber couldn’t ever make mine like his
He had Asian hair then
My mate and I loved Christian Slater, went on a bit of a binge mid 90s renting every movie he was in, and we actually really liked Kuffs!
True Romance, one of the best films ever made!
It is... AND that was more due to the script & directing. The 2 leads were completely superfluous. Almost any young star/starlet could've played those parts. Hell, River Phoenix was still alive then, he could've played Clarence and a young Nicole Kidman could be been Alabama.
I’ve always loved it, when I just heard they wanted Steve Buscemi for Clarence I burst out laughing imagining Mr. Pink do Clarence’s lines. Would’ve loved Steve as a cameo in this one though, could’ve been the 3rd cop with Chris Penn and Tom Seizmore or with the mobsters. But as CLARENCE?! 🤣🤣
@@jk-474 you can’t be serious? 😂 I love Mr Buscemi, But I just can’t picture him in the role at all.
@@krnc17 Me either, that’s why I burst out laughing. My dad, who showed me the movie about 12 years ago, burst out as well after I told him 🤣🤣
Lol no, the plot sucks. Who the hell kills a guy and leaves his driver's license in the crime scene?
When I was growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, Christian Slater was one of the coolest dudes around.
Really enjoyed your video, it was like revisiting my youth! Heathers is still my all time favorite movie. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Slater twice. The first time back in 2003 at the costume store I worked at. He was very polite and didn't mind me gushing about my love of Heathers and True Romance. Then in 2017 I was a background actor in 3 episodes of Mr Robot. He was very professional but also super friendly saying hello to everyone and usually getting things perfect on the first take. I can see why he has been non stop working for this many years.

If they ever make a real Star Trek show again, he's my pick for a Captain.
"sir, i hate to disturb you, sir"
The Name of the Rose staring Sean Connery and Christian Slater is one of those great movies you never saw
Not to forget Ron Perlman and a few others.
I will never forget when I saw Star Trek 6 for the first time and in that scene with Captain Sulu I was like "Is that Christian Slater?" and all my friend were like "nooo ... never"
His tenacity is off the charts, happy he's on the comeback.
“Because….Christian Slater is more important than history” lmao 🤣 I love this narration!
Thank you for this. Honestly, Slater has always been one of my favorites. This was a great reminder in how awesome he is when given the right slot to fill. 🤙🏻
He has aged beautifully. What a good looking man!😘😘😘
I wont lie both mobsters and windtalkers are few of my guilty pleasures movies.

"Christian Slater is more important than history."
You sir have added to my lexicon, and I value that above all things. I thank you.
Murder in the first is an amazing movie. Not my first introduction to slater (which was robin hood and then interview with a vampire) but my fondest memory of a movie with him in it (and broken arrow). Apart from mr robot enthusiastically applauding his return, I'm sure he's ready now for a major comeback. He can kill it. I'm sure of it.
Have you seen Very Bad Things?
@@aquariandawn4750 I have not. I'll check it out
I was hoping that he'd be a vampire in IWAV but it sadly didn't happen until the end.
True Romance is the greatest movie ever! You guys need to do a whole episode on that.
It's my favourite Tarantino movie.. And that's not a slight on the movies he's directed himself.. The story is just so good I prefer it to all other Tarantino scrips (even though I love all of his movies)
It is awesome. Tarantino script and Tony Scott direction was perfect. RIP Tony.

My Own Worst Enemy was such an amazing idea, shame it didn't get the chance it deserved.
Still loving Christian Slater! He’s still one of my favorite actors from my childhood.
He got his facelift right before Windtalkers. His face noticeably changes, the lines in the corners of his eyes go away. They put him in glasses a lot now so that it’s less jarring that he has NO wrinkles around his eyes.

Same with Rutger Hauer’s Flesh & Blood...
I like both of them and they are in my collection.
As one of the ones contributing to that $2431 for He Was A Quiet Man, I'm happy I contributed such a high percentage to an amazing movie. Still have it on DVD and Blu-Ray.

He seems to be in much better place, extremely Intelligent & a great sense of humour (doesn’t take himself too seriously). Amazing acting recently as Dr Kirby in the tv miniseries, dr death.
I love how most of his roles are dark. He chooses the best. I like his thinking. He’s such a good actor and he knows what he wants.
Love the "which sounds like a lot if you don't have _______$" running gag 😂

I love so many of his movies and he always remains one of my favorite actors.
I've seen both Heathers and Pump up the volume multiple times and to this day, fot me, both of these Christian Slater performances are two of the most inspirational ever.
I've recently seen Dirty John and he was amazing once again.
Truly, a brilliant actor.
I got to hang out with Christian Slater a few times in the 90s and 00s. A friend made some custom jewelry for him. We would hang out up at my friend's shop, at my friend's house and a sports bar we used to go to at times. He is a very interesting guy. I have met a lot of famous people, and he is one of the most memorable for me. He is very intelligent, knowledgeable and has charisma through the roof. He never used drugs around me, but he was usually pretty sauced on alcohol. Myself and my friend that introduced us would smoke cannabis around him, but he would stay away from the smoke and just drink. He said he used to smoke a lot in high school, but really did not like to do it since then. He has definitely had his ups and downs, but to me he always seemed just like one of the guys. Good memories, good times.
Damn, the amount of effort you put into these videos are so admirable👍🏻🔥
He was in great films like Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Kuffs, True Romance, Interview with the Vampire, Broken Arrow, Hard Rain and Mindhunters. Until Alone in the Dark finally killed his career.
Um... I literally searched to see if you had done one on him 2 days ago .... I am kinda weirded out right now
I was an extra on Churchill, the Hollywood years, and met Christian Slater, who spared the time to have a chat, take a photograph with me, and then carry on filming the movie. He was just the nicest person you could ever meet, and was humble enough to realise that the general public, are the ones that pay to go and see the movies. Vic Reeves was just the same, just a down to Earth, nice bloke.
Aaahh Slater ^^ Another child hood crush of mine ♡ btw I love how Taylor keeps repeating "The Golden Globe winner Christian Slater" towards the end ahaha well deserved ♡
