CRAZY Rain and Noob Mistakes - Bran Castle to Budapest - P2T EP18

- Опубліковано 15 чер 2023
- The18 th installment of my 5000 mile solo road trip to the Balkans on board the mighty BMW R1250 GS Adventure.
In this episode, I encounter the worst rain i have ever ridden in. Plus, almost make a total noob mistake. On the plus side I met 2 Romanian subscribers!
Permission to Torque is a Mental Health movement set up to show others that you "get it" by displaying a discrete symbol for others to take comfort in. Its not about sitting around in a circle feeling sorry for yourself, its about shared experience and getting out there to find out what makes us happy - this is the aim of my trip and why I am sharing it on UA-cam, the good days and the inevitable bad ones too.
I hope you enjoy the journey with me and find it at least vaguely useful! :)

This is not a miserable series, its inspirational! So much so, I’ve bought the bike, grown the beard, bought the purple sunglasses! Just need the lightening stickers for the tank? Well done Chris, I love the fact that you meet up with your subscribers and hang out with them. Absolutely great series, one of the best! Thank you! 👏🏼👍🏼 Be proud of it!
Cheers mate, enjoy the mic:)
I didnt expecy you to film me. I think the ladies will be all over me now:)))
Thank you SO much!! Incredible kindness on your part 🙏 and yes, ladies are on you! 😅
Will keep some for when you return:)
Just gotta say regardless of any of the microphone issues, I've been enjoying the ride.
Hey romanian subscriber! We didnt learn your name brother but we all appreciate your bit in keeping the content great. Thanks guy, you are a king
Can’t beat a bit of fuel anxiety followed by biblical rain daggers!, all part of the journey I guess!
What a lovely gentleman helping you out.Well done Sir...🏴
the guy who gave you the mic is a legend my man... You should send him something hahahaha
I’ve got a selfie with Chris, that is more than enough for me
@@TZOPA I want to say Thank You!!! behalf of everyone in this channel...

One of the best episode so far!
Cracking series Chris. Feel proud of yourself for taking on a long and testing trip, juggling life's shit on your shoulders and still coming through with yourself and the bike upright. Well done.
Enjoying the trip, some of the absolutely worse trip bits are the most memorable though (when we’re all old and sat in a home 😁)
Chris you are such an inspiration for those who suffer from anxiety and depression. Bless you for documenting this, you have massive cahones and a huge heart.
Im a miserable bugger most of the time (according to the wife) and your no bollox vlogs cheer me up no end. Well done.😅
Awesome ride Chris. A big DOUBLE BLOODY DECKER to you for going through that rain & hail. Mas grande cojones.
This was a paradox of emotions that ended on a high!!! You reap what you sow!! 🙌🏼💪🏼💫
Road was better then the castle.
Knowing how to ride in the wet is a thing most folks fail at, but knowing when to stop is quite a thing also… and the wind pushing you from one side of a lane to another is always fun.
Thanks for doing this Chris. Your very real take on doing this is so inspirational!
Have absolutely loved the series. Always looking forward to the next one, hope youre well Chris
Awesome to spend more time with you on you’re travels ,nobody does it better Chris!
You inspire me through hard times huge thank you
Still a bit taken back that the 5 series indicated. Even if it was after he forced his way in!
After initial misgivings I dived into your series and I am loving it, loving it, loving it, loving it like that. The combination of authenticity, swearing, amazing roads, overthinking, exploration, existential crises and your intermittent discomfort make for top notch viewing. Thanks for putting it all together.
I’m in bed with Covid, and the f bombs in the rain gave me my first laugh out loud since it started, so thank you for that.
Thank you for sharing all the high's and low's of this trip, and for the P2T message and stickers!
I've absolutely loved the whole series...raw and incredibly enjoyable...👍
This was awesome to watch & love the brutal honesty about struggles, legend
I have cabin fever, recovering from knee surgery, and just binge watched your trip to Bosnia series, totally saved the day for me , thanks Chris , loved it and big respect for doing the tour 👍🏻👏🏻✋🏻
The humanity!
I love how you’re human, and not afraid to show it.
We all have our moments.
Also you’re hilarious.
Duh….
Epic travels!
Carry on, mate.
It’s been a brilliant series Chris. Been listening for ages. Always good to see a new video drop.
Loving this trip and think it’s great you’re keeping it real
Cracking vlog 😎 it just shows the good and not so good bits of touring ✊✊
Loving the series, its been fantastic. Double Double bloody Decker!
Excellent series Chris, I bit the bullet and did 2500 miles around France on my own between lockdowns one and two. The BEST holiday of my life! Don't be too hard on yourself and enjoy the ride 👍
Great to see a trip portrayed the way it really is and not all jazzed up for the social media age. Encountered similar rain in Switzerland last year on my GSA 2-up with full luggage, the lightning was going off all around us, the rain was like nothing I've ever seen before and it was downright dangerous to continue, ended up with hazards on in the hard shoulder limping along to the first place of shelter we could find. And I think I swore as much as you did! I do love a good fucking swear up when I'm on my bike. So many similarities to my own experiences when touring, love it and keep up the good work.
Warts n all, brilliant, thank you for sticking to it as it's much better than watching any pretentious shizzle.
You have no idea how much this series helps… thanks 👍
home from Austria to Wales in similar ,shouting and cursing ,enabled me to forget my troubles for a while and appreciate a warm bed.
You are incredible Chris 😊 you don't realize how inspiring you are
yes 🤣🤣 I have been caught out in rain like that on more than one occasion, once on the Daytona at Les Mans, another time on the GS up in Scotland, GS was great though and handled it really well, not that long ago here in Jersey, was caught out in a huge heavy downpour when we had the flooding in January, always fun riding in those conditions. Well done Chris you handled it well you boss 💪👌
All the oopsies, whoopsies, and oh shite moments just go with Moto Adventure. Fuel anxiety, the elements, machine issues, they are only overwhelming if I’m on a time schedule. I mean otherwise I just pull over and wait it out, fix an issue, or get some rest, if I’m prepared with gear and enough cash or credit limit on the cards. Every time I get warm, dry, and refreshed I’m always ready to get back in the game.
Bad tarmac, well you e got the right machine for that. 👍
Now, if that were the site of the first Wolfman movie, I’d have shilled out the cash, after I’d eaten the copper.
You never know who you meet on the road. 🐺
This series inspired me to do my own trip across the US and back, which I'm currently on. Love these vids
I got caught in weather like that up in the mountains above Chiang Mai. The road surface was good but I was surrounded by jungle, nowhere to pull over and water running in rivers across the road. 3 hours to get home which should have been one. No fun, but like you, I made it upright and in one piece.
Stay strong bud i enjoy these kind of videos theyre awesome mate stay blessed Grumble
This isn’t a miserable series Chris. You’re doing exactly what you set out to do. I’ve done street touring, remote off road touring, long distance, weekend riding, etc. This is real. So many times you’ve said something and I’ve had the same thought while on the road. I feel the same conflicto on between solo and group trips. I hope you’ve enjoyed this ride.
You did great, man! Well done!
The relationship between man (or women) and machine grows the more they explore the unknown and fearful destinations together. I suppose it's a bit like marriage, but a motorcycle is not going to really argue so it's more likely to work out.
Motorbikes are awesome!
Nothing worse than fuel anxiety, been in cold rain, hungry and busting for a piss, my street triple was saying 0 km on a moto way on the outskirts of Melbourne heading to Philip island, best feeling seeing a Petrol station. Great series, hope we get to join you on your return trip Chris.💚🇦🇺
The Baron through a hailstorm😁 New superlatives galore!! 🤣
California experienced a boat load of rain this past winter. And I commuted in it. But nothing like what you had.
Thanks for the laugh. 🏍️
I’ve ridden in stuff like that…….not great eh? This series is awesome Chris! Well done!
pretty amazed the Hero 7 footage still holds up to this day
The writing was on the wall all along @ 0:48. OSMO!
3:59 Chris, You Were Carrying So Much Equipment and Luggage he Probably Thought you were a Homeless Person and Moved You on... 😂😂
14:21 -- you're such a lucky guy! Imagine if you ran out of fuel a mile from the station and were pushing the bike throug *_that_* :D
(love the episode, thank you)
I did a 3 week European trip by myself. Not quite as long as you but it’s an eye opener. Pretty lonely, vulnerable etc. Learnt slot about myself, I’m not very comfortable by myself haha. Love the series and brings back memories
I've been empathizing throughout the whole video. I've never gone nearly as far or through so many different regions, but my half-baked weekenders have faired much worse. Takes a lot of nerve to saunter off into other countries alone and unsupported. Cities are so crowded everywhere. Those deep wooded roads are the only place for solitude and reflection. Cheers and respect from the usa
Exciting! Almost fuel stop, ridiculous massive rain, hard hailstorm! Yes!
"If you're going to rape me, do it after you've killed me" has got to be one of my favourite ever lines from Chris 😂😂
Looks like my typical holidays 😂😂😂
Love all your real life videos! Thanks for not giving in to the parking cop who was probably trying to get a payoff from you to park in a legitimate space!
That reminded me of a 500+ mile one day trip from Dresden to Calais, pretty much torrential rain the whole journey!! My arse has not been the same since!! ;-)
Did you just wheelie your fully loaded GS!!!! 🤣
Awesome bro,but got to say i cried with laughter at you in the hailstorm "sorry" lol ;-)
Ride Safe Mr B \m/
I'm glad that after the shit that's happened on this episode, you're still upbeat. Beer at the end fixes it all 😊
Zebra pants low cut top looked lovely, that ver gash.
well done mate, i would have thrown the toys out the cot and not recorded another word. Good resilience to soldier on despite the technical let downs from last episode.
You're mental mate! in a good way! Keep pushing yourself these are inspiring
Never Eat Shredded Wheat 😂
Hahaha Chris, you got all the right ingredients for a proper adventure ❤😅 Should have been there before Romania joined EU, three foot wide potholes two feet deep, even the trucks had to meander across the roads, then having to test my brakes mid corner to find a thirty foot haybale on a hidden cart being pulled by a donkey in the middle of the road. Lifetime memories, you'll laugh about for years and be so happy you made them 🥰
Visit East Germany with its beautiful flowers in the potholes. Shocked that Serbia is looking like that after NATO bombarded them and able to have roads outside of the EU.
Hove the hell I have missed these i will never know, watched every morcel of 44T ,I was laughing my bollocks off with the evil rainstorm, when i was fucked up in about 2015 I rode my Aprilia Rst1000 Rst1000
i know its not funny riding in those conditions.. but so funny :P thanks Chris
Resilience and perseverance. Well in BVG.
You are bang on correct about tourist traps Chris, I am 58 now and have learned yonks ago how to dodge them. Locally to me there is a norman castle built on a Roman fort in Norman Bay near Bexhill. £20 for my family to get in and look at Norman walls with skinny Roman bricks below, Feck off, I can see the same masonry on the outside on the main road. You seem to be on the sunny side up heading home, mission accomplished, enjoyed it so far. A lot of europe do not allow lorries to drive on weekends during summer time
Holy shit balls! You’re having some weather there! 😬
Loving every episode! UA-cam isn’t worthy of your honestly.
Well that was rather good 👍
Another rant filled, enjoyable video! You sound so much like me 😂
Glad you enjoyed😅
Nice Ruin pub at the end.
I know in the moment this was probably terrible, but $10 says this is the day you will remember the most in 5 years.
I have ridden in such conditions - far from fun, but afterwards it is kind of epic.
Chris you are a 6ft + hunk of a guy but we can,t control what’s going on in our brains, so just plough on through it mate, chest out, chin up, fingers crossed you will be fine, great series 👏
Ride all that way and almost get wiped out by a UK 🇬🇧 registered car 😖
And a beemer at that! You couldn’t make it up
@@CHuzz7777 and both indicators worked 😂😂
You can't beat the stress of running low on fuel in a foreign country 😢
Rode from Col d'lzoard to Annecy, France in the pouring rain. Worst wet ride ever, my boots were full of water. Everything dried out over nite, next day beautiful.
old man yells at clouds meme origin story lol
Jesus H. Those hail stones looked horrendous.
You were right first time, "Receptionist.
The gods favoured you with running out of gas... saved you the ride in the monsoon.
Maybe you should have stayed with the Drift cameras. I'm still using their Ghost 4K. It never malfunctions and I have about 6 hours battery life. External mic is simple to connect, and helmet mounting is a breeze--and stealth. Love this series btw. Be good to yourself, don't take stuff too seriously, make the effort to be physically fit as it transfers over to the mind. Enjoy 🙂
rode in something similar when I'd had my new bike for 2 months, would not wish it on my worst enemy, absolutely horrible experience.
My wife and I got caught in a storm like that going across Tioga Pass in Yosemite. There was literally and inch of hail on the road, it was FUCKED lol. Memorable, though...
Hi Chris,
Great series, really enjoying it, out of interest, which rst mesh jacket you wearing
Rode in rain that hard in England it was bouncing off the ground up to my helmet, riding blind.
nice
surprised you never met cars lorries bike on both sides of the road , mental driving there
Great vid. Which mesh jacket are you wearing? Neeeeed one.
Why are parking attendants the same the world over. I was thinking of visiting Bran castle but not now 😂😂😂
18:30 for some reason I expected to see Zolly in the bed behind you. Some bad weather and hurdles make it more of an authentic adventure.
😂
Thanks Chris.
Pawlak
Got caught in a hail storm myself the other day, it’s purgatory 😂
i would of sat in the petrol station until that rain stopped the bollocks on you riding in that fair play hahaha
Hi Chris great vid, did that subscriber bum you in Romania? Haha 👍🏻😂
