Born and raised in NZ, Auckland moved to Australia since 2017. What amazes me is that being there 29yrs I still haven't seen a lake as beautiful as that. How lucky are you to experience a backyard I grew up in. Watching this just makes me homesick, thank you for sharing x
@@AbbieandWiebe I know right. Moved cos jobs wages was stagnating but price of living rapidly increasing therefore could not afford to live in NZ. But nonetheless NZ will always be home an what a beauty she is. Love watching all your adventures xx
What a lovely couple you are.😊 So glad you enjoyed travelling around New Zealand. I hope in these Covid19 times that you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well and that you will be able to return to NZ one-day. Perhaps come to Wellington next time. Arohanui💖
That is so kind! Thank you for the comment! So far we have been safe and healthy for which we are thankful! I hope the same for you! We would love to visit Wellington some day! Hopefully soon!

@@AbbieandWiebe your welcome we have been to America ...just San Francisco and Alaska in 2009...we had plans and paid for a trip to Hawaii Canada Alaska and Houston...covid cancelled that once in a lifetime trip so gutted but hopefully one day we will go visit
One thing i can't get my head around being a Kiwi,is the bloody one lane bridges, why? did they run out of bridge when it came to those bits?, " Oh hey guys,we didn't pack enough bridge again" .
Yes, our travel dates were Jan 8th to Feb 6th so we made it back before all the lockdowns. It just took us awhile to go through and edit all our videos. We did! Thank you! 😊
The trip across the Southern Alps to the West Coast is stated to be one of the great journeys of the world, especially by rail. As a railway enthusiast, I have made many documentaries about steam train trips around New Zealand, including across the alps. If you're at all interested, here is the second such film I made; vimeo.com/ondemand/coasttocoast. I also like your choice of music in all your videos that I have watched so far.
Steam train! That looks fun! Yeah I think not taking that train across was one of the most disappointing things for Abbie, she really wanted to do that. I just wasn't sure how to make that work with our rental car except just taking the train there and back the same day. Thank you, there's so much music to chose from it's quite a challenge 😊
We used to have drums of eels one with babies one with adults they are meat eaters when we would feed the babies oval once they were grown we would release them back in to the lake they are actually quite harmless we protect them you are not allowed to be in the creeks if a grey eel is in the water they are known as ghost eels when you see them you must get out of the water they are old and are protected locals they are checking the rivers condition
They bite there teeth curve backwards like a lock jaw. Doesn't hurt gives you a bit of a shock tho, once they bite rust give it a tug and there small teeth lock on to your hand/arm, then its eels for lunch/tea

The eels were hilarious!!! 😂
Haha! They were so weird!!
Why did that guy have eels in his backyard?
@@anhbarker They are in a canal that runs along the highway outside his property. I don't know how they got there. So strange!
That is strange!
They keep the waterways clean, the Maori name for eel is tuna. Smoked eel is tasty.
Just as well you didn't wade across the inlet, it's where the eels enter the stream. They like toes. 😋
Ekk!! Good thing we didn't haha!

Back in the day there was probably only 1 car a day on those roads.
