Charles does not have to wait to make his mark. He has been before his time all of his life. His stand on the environment was prescient, and has now inspired Prince William to develop the Earthshot Prize, through which his father's legacy will live. Thats just one of the many things Charles has accomplshed. Many more, including the Prince's Trust, and others that I am not familiar with, being an American, will contribute to his legacy. He may not end up being the most outstanding King of England, but he made his mark as the Prince of Wales.

I am a UK citizen..l do not think William should Leap Frog over his father to become King. I believe he is grounded enough to realise being second sometimes is a wholelot better than being first.
