I've seen Al Cisneros live twice, with Om and Shrinebuilder, and on both occasions his fucking bass sound literally moved me. Fucking epic. I just regret not being stoned on either occasion.
Do yourself a favor, get a good DAC like the Fiio e17 and a good headset like vmodas, and crank it. SO amazing. Fell the bass in your brain resonate through your toes.
I've been fortunate enough to see Om, Shrinebuilder, and Sleep. However I felt slightly unsettled watching everyone around me putting earplugs in before Sleep came onstage. I got my hearing back in one ear only, three days later.
Man, I just discovered this band yesterday. They kick ass! Once you get past the intro, it's very much like Sabbath, from Master of Reality. The chord changes in this song are very much like something Tony Iommi would do. It's awesome to hear the first stoner metal I've ever heard since Sabbath. This band is very good, and this genre has been hiding for too long.
That is an evil bass line, and some really crazy drumming and guitar riffage, and to top it off those dark and haunting vocals make this a killer track. The video matches the mood and flow of this song perfectly. Why like so many talented bands are they unheard of. I guess it makes listening to their music a more personal experience since few know of them.
Your exactly right, there are so many bands that sound like Sabbath and in the 90's too many bands tried to emulate Kyuss and Fu Manchu. However there are a lot of bands that have taken the Sabbath idea but have incorporated their own distinct sound. Now Sabbath was pretty much doing what everyone else was doing at that time which taking the blues and turning them into hard rock songs but Sabbath had they're own original take on the blues as did Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy etc...
Eleven years later and your comment remains relevant. Tons of bands in the 90s utilized the Sabbath sound, my personal favorite being sludgecore. Bands such as Eyehategod, Iron Monkey, Soilent Green, etc. Great stuff.
J.Yunger, (White Zombie) had a column in guitar mag, he would talk about new bands he liked, Sleep was one of them. 1992 or 93. I immediately was on a mission to find Sleep, once I heard it I was hooked on them, Wish White zombie would have brought them on your.
+John Robert Weyn Me too. Got a fuzz pedal (Big Muff Pi Deluxe) for my guitar and then went searching for good fuzz pedal songs on UA-cam. This one came up pretty quickly and damn, that's some high octane stuff. Sabbath never dies!
Yorkshire Dave, a Baldur's Gate lets player I'm following, mentioned this band in one of his videos. So I came to check them out. Glad I did. Thanks Dave! :D
Ride the dragon toward the crimson eye Flap the wings under Mars red sky The reptile pushes itself out into space Leaving behind, the human race Swim inside the solar seas The Nebula cries out to me Passing where I've gone before I fly through the crimson door Ride the dragon toward the crimson eye Flap the wings under Mars red sky
I still remember buying this on cassette...oh wait still have it to...and to think what they went on and did over the years!!! Me and my friends went shit!!!! This is fantastic!!!!
+darwleg could be, but some bands do that, change a classic riff a bit at the tuning or the playstyle, to make it more accessible! I will have it mostly cause Sleep have nothing to prove and dont need to steal ideas to reach the top! Stay high
luka žnidarič money - pink floyd starts off in a completely different time singnature. The only thing similar is that these songs both are played with swing
i had never heard of sleep....i watched harmony korines film gummo which is excellent....and was like who is this badass band....the singer/guitar player has a new band now called high on fire and the are excellent as well...
This is probably one of the best, most pure music videos ever made.
I love how the drummer beats the ever-loving-shit out of the drums on such a mellow tune. Fucking song is badass!
Bon j'ai vu pire, 😅
Surtout avec un bonnet vert sur une touffe pareil 😊
Sleep took Black Sabbath's sound and progressed it way further than they would have ever dared. I thank them for that!
Rock isn't dead. It's just more hidden these days.
Hey what's up
John Shockey Nothing really, just writing exams.
+Kian Ontong How'd they go?
+Kian Ontong
Rock will never die!!!!
+Kian Ontong All the good stuff has allways been 'hidden'. The people who don't know that say things like 'Rock is Dead'.
Gummo opened my eyes up to this band. So glad. They fucking rock!
That movie was batshit weird, But the soundtrack was stellar.
This is the first time I've ever heard this band, and they're fucking awesome
Ítalo Carvalho

just saw sleep this weekend at Meredith music festival... acid and shrooms deep.... best thing i've ever seen
I've been fortunate enough to see Om, Shrinebuilder, and Sleep. However I felt slightly unsettled watching everyone around me putting earplugs in before Sleep came onstage. I got my hearing back in one ear only, three days later.
Like the time I went to see Godflesh….I had ringing in both ears for about a week after.
FilmSupplies vmodas are so overrated, fucking hipster gear
Damn, I love their sound. Love the lag, the way they "drag" time.

I just heard of this band today after my friend told me to learn this song on bass. I'm blown away. This band is amazing.

I've been watching this video multiple times over the last 10 years. Love the song. The raw video fits it.
Ahhhhh stoner metal. Just great music to sit down and listen to without doing anything else. Stay metal!
***** nope stoner
***** yup!
though stoner, doom and sludge are close relatives
I love this,I can't afford natural medicine.i have degenerative disc disease. Opioid meds I get for pain are horrible when you run out.
bill iverson please look up kratom. mitrogyna speciosa. it sounds like harry potter but it will be your angel of mercy (especially maeng da)
what are you, metal police?
The opening reminds me of Fairies wear boots by Black Sabbath.
+Jacob Wilson Logically this is early stoner/doom metal, sabbath was predoom metal, without sabbath no doom, death or black metal.
its great thats what i think is awesome as well. i like that most stoner/doom is recorded in a rough grainy way most the time
+Jacob Wilson it is Black Sabbath - Lord of this world
+Jacob Wilson and money by pink floyd!
The more i see this i want the Rickenbacker bass.
Possibly the best band to come out of San Jose, makes me proud.
That riff has Sabbath all over it..
One of the best.
Les Paul + Rickenbacker bass + Blues time signature + Sabbath crawl = I can't stop replaying this song!!!!!!
what a band I'm glad I kept jamming and click to this masterpiece I can't even stop jamming to these guys!
I like the fact that that these guys keep it simple music loses its soul if its to technical. Sleep forever.
I can't help myself...but when I hear the first notes I always wanna sing: "money! get away..." :D
great song!
Haha
This oozes Master Of Reality
lord of this world!

Vladan Marjanović haha my bad, sorry... I'm close to my 40s and something senile :-P
Thanks for the correction.
suffice to say it pays homage to one of the greatest bands of all time

Praise the Gods of GUMMO!
That rickenbacker bass sounds bad ass
I can't believe I went this long without hearing this
+John Robert Weyn Me too. Got a fuzz pedal (Big Muff Pi Deluxe) for my guitar and then went searching for good fuzz pedal songs on UA-cam. This one came up pretty quickly and damn, that's some high octane stuff. Sabbath never dies!
+Gary Smith Jesus does everyone play guitar lol even I do
Like Blue Cheer, it's a band that feels the primitive power that rock originally had.
definitely one of my favorite videos on all UA-cam. loaded back in those days when I was at school. Somehow I remembered about it after so many years
This whole song is just one great riff after another
heard that rickenbacker
was jamming this with friends today, felt the spirit
First heard this from the movie "Gummo", loved it ever since.
Life is beautiful. Really, it is. Full of beauty and illusions. Life is great. Without it, you'd be dead.

I love that the tom-tom is a floor tom.
MetalPersonJ how my drummer sets his drum set up as well, adds more low end to the whole kit which is perfect for their drop tuning
God I never get tired of this gem. Top 10 riffs of all time
Yorkshire Dave, a Baldur's Gate lets player I'm following, mentioned this band in one of his videos. So I came to check them out. Glad I did. Thanks Dave! :D

Cisneros! ♥
I didn't know video quality went as low as 144p until I saw this video. Thank you Sleep, still educating me despite your disbandment
It's good to know that somebody out there still knows how to make some good old rock 'n' roll.
Whoa! Now I see where The Sword got it from.
what do you mean?
Enrique Cervantes He means the band 'The Sword'
...Sabbath?
Black Sabbath totally jacked their style.
Yes! first few seconds I heard I already figured it out.
Brandon Herndon who cares? Most of metal acts are someone else's stuff. Let's enjoy it
Black Sabbath pre-dates Sleep by about 25 years haha! So this comment is pretty funny :P
@@fizzyissie He's just trying to say they made this style their own.
black sabbath was around before sleep...
