Track limits? If it’s not grass or gravel, it’s race track!!

Look at how fast he slows down for the bus stop... I had to watch it back a few times to wrap my head around it and panicked when I saw how fast he was approaching the bus stop and how late he started braking. Truly amazing driver and car

Car looks mega! Great to see it come along nicely!
Which tires were you running that day?
Is the car based on the 4wd version?
Are you running the factory steering rack?
Great video as always! You've come such a long way since the Cressida days :)

Are you still on Pirelli tyres (maybe DHA)? If yes, switch to Michelin (see GTOPEN Cup specifications), that chassis gets way more balanced and they are way more safe! Source of my info: im doing race engineering on that car since 2016

why this beast lap spa 4 seconds slower than a gt3?

    • @FredrikSoerlie

Well, there are so many reasons I don't even know where to start. Let's start with the technical reason. This is a Super Trofeo. Not a GT3 car. This is basically a road car with a turbo and aero kit compared to a factory spec GT3. The mechanical grip of a modern GT3 is a completely different league to this. We run stock suspension, bushings and brakes and has no corrected geometry like a GT3. Also, you are comparing us to this years pole time, after they made changes to the track. And you are comparing a qualifying lap on brand new rubber, no fuel and full commitment to a casual track day lap on a completely green track with no rubber (it had just dried up - barely). All those factors alone are several seconds.
As for the lap itself, there is a lot left on the table compared to what this car is capable off. We were there for two trackdays and most of the time Oliver was doing the driving as he has way more experience on the track (I had never been there before and only knew the track from iRacing). In the end, I only did 5 laps over those two days and only three of them were flying laps. Not really a lot of time to learn a track like Spa. This lap was on reasonably fresh rubber, but a hard compound and with a decent amount of fuel. So with that in mind, I am very happy to only be a second slower than the fastest GT3 was in free practice for the 2020 24h...
Realistically, with testing, a rubbered in track and low fuel we would be looking at a 2.15 or so on soft rubber.

@@FredrikSoerlie what to say. Thanks for explaining and spending so much time on writing it.
The comment i did was only based on the stats i saw and i would have knew only some minutes later that this was a private build so please forgive me.
I think there's no need to say that i love this monster.
Anyway, why you decided to build something like this? my first impression when i knew it was a private build was that you were going to participate in some time-attack events.

@@cesco66 No problem, man. I enjoy explaining the car and it definitely needs context to be appreciated fully. So first of all, it is not my build. I am just the driver. The car was built by a local company near where I live and the idea was to develop a kit for road cars. Basically, you can take your road Huracan to Zyrus Engineering, and they will add the new body panels, dampers and turbo kit, transforming your road car to a monster of a track day vehicle.
This is why a lot of the main components are kept stock. It's supposed to be a street legal alternative to a hard core race car like a GT3. On most tracks it is faster than GT3 cars, given equal conditions. Not by a lot though, as modern GT3 cars are insane. Still not bad for something that is basically still a road car.
They are currently finishing the first production vehicle for a client, and have two more ordered. It's a bit of a Cinderella story and great fun to be a part of :)

I have a bizarre questionm it seems that you really have to turn extremly the steering wheel to turn. Is it no so dorect steering? Or is this only an impression?

    • @FredrikSoerlie
      @FredrikSoerlie  4 роки тому

Bolim04 Not bizarre at all. Our car is based on the Super Trofeo, which use the original Huracan steering rack ;)
