I put a Jones bar on my Surly Krampus. It’s been a game changer for me. I have a chronic neck issue and it puts me in a very comfortable position relative to my injury.
very interested in the stem length and rise you have selected. I am shifting from moloko bars to jones bars, but am still gathering info before ordering the bars. deciding on regular or 2.5 models.
Brad Beaird quick question, just got my Jones Bars 2.5. What is the name of the bags you use to hold your water bottles. I didn’t see it in the description. I have a Trek Allant with the stagger, and I’m trying to figure out how I can carry stuff on my frame. www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/hybrid-bikes/electric-hybrid-bikes/allant/allant-9-9s-stagger/p/30259/
These bars make a world of difference! Feels like a different bike!! No more wrist pain, you can sit Upright and cruze and drink a coffee, or get aero and really get where your going, fkn fenomina 👍👍
Thanks for review. I have trekking bars on one bike. I'm thinking of getting a vintage Trek 970 to use as all around tour/gravel and think the 2.5 rise might give good position on the vintage mountain bikes geometry.
Stumbled across your channel as a newbie to gravel biking (long time MTBer), and really appreciate both the trip reports as well as the detail on equipment, and especially your own custom mods to make your equipment JUST how you want it. I had never even heard of Kydex, but I have a feeling I'll need some, just like my using some Tyvek for backpacking! Have a Salsa Journeyman Flat Bar and am looking at the Surly Moloko bars as a step up as I am not sure I would get to full touring needs, so if you need to get rid of those ones hanging on the wall let me know! :) Thanks for the efforts on the videos.
I put my Jones 2.5 bar on my Hunqapillar, with the same 120mm stem I had been using for regular MTB bars and it felt really good. However, I wanted to experiment with Jeff Jones' fit philosophy so I checked and found his SWB complete has a 17 degree, 80mm stem and since my Hunqapillar has an effective top-tube length 2cm longer than the Jones SWB, I bought a 17 degree, 60mm stem and mounted the Loop bar. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet, but I look forward to trying it out. I know it's only a rough approximation of the Jones fit, but hopefully it can help me decide if a Jones bike is in my future.
You were running the Surly Moloko bars prior to these, right? How do you think the two bars compare? And was it hard to adjust to the 45-degree sweep? Having ridden both, which sweep do you prefer?
Timely, I am pondering these exact ones for my soon to be built ECR currently sitting in several crates in the dining room, its either those or the Surly raised Open Bar, I have the latter and it is proper good, but must admit being a bit intrigued by the Jones bar.
nice video! Good work. I just bought the same bar and also have a Surly (Ogre). Thought I'd leave 35mm of spacers and hope that would give me enough flexibility. Can't really tell on the video if you use any spacers with the bar?
Hey Brad! Love all the videos and your bike and gear looks awesome. Do you have the name / a link to the brake levers, and gear shifters you use, on the Jones Bar? Is some special ones required? Thanks a bunch from a newbie. Cheers
I've gone back to this bar , yes it's heavy but after weighing my other bars that require ergon grips the Jones 2.5 is lighter & has more hand positions.
I wish Jones made a bar with a 30 degree sweep. I like the h-bar, but everyone has their own body geometry, and on my bike, 45 degrees works great for out-of-saddle climbing, but not long hours pedaling in the saddle.
jones only makes products that work for Jeff Jones. he is pretty open about this. a good thing. Jones pushes the envelope for others to follow. a good thing. velo orange sources a variety of bars. its really worth looking and asking around for your needs. lots of cool choices.
One of the better reviews for the Jones H bar, Brad. I may have passed you on the Katy Trail a few weeks back. How do you like the Jones H vs the Koga Denham bar? Thanks in advance.
Could be we passed! I haven't ever had the opportunity to ride with the Koga Bars, however I've seen them and they look good. I like the rise of the Loop 2.5. I like the sweep as well as the ability to mount the accessories easily, things like phone and camera up there is really nice compared to my historical bars, etc. whatbars.com/ is a really great site to compaire two if you are interested. Really nice to compare sweep and layout.
@@BradBeaird Thanks for the reply. As I am getting more into touring, I may be leaning towards the Jones H Bar SG 2 5. whatbars.com is a great resource. Thanks again for the recommendations.
Brad, did you have to change your stem to get bars closer? If not, what length and angle degree stem are you using. If so what did you have before and what did you go to? Im asking as I have the SG 2.5 shipping to me now.
I noticed you had the Surly Moloko's on the back wall. I am stuck between the two. Care to comment on wich sweep is more comfortable, aside from the rise? Thanks.
@@BradBeaird They're a little bit difficult to get in Europe as sell out very quickly, so had to settle for silver Should have them fitted by end of next week. Can't wait.....😁😎

I am trying to decide whether to get the regular h loop bar or 2.5 for my hardtail? If I get the 2.5 would I need to adjust my seat height? With my regular flat bars my seat is pretty much even with my handlebars
Thank you for yet again a nice video review. You have convinced me. Although i have a regular Jones bar ( the former owner has cut a bit the ends which i regret he did ) i feel a little bit uncomfortable so i would definitely prefer the 2.5 version. I would like to know the length and eventual raise of the stem you have set up there together with the bar if possible. Thanks
@@BradBeaird I'm always impressed by your super quick replies. Much appreciated. I see on the surly website " ProMax 4 bolt, 31.8" but no information about the actual length of the stem. I guess i will order a 60mm stem just to make sure my back and neck will feel more comfortable on long rides ;)
Great review! I also have the Jones H bar on my 2018 Salsa Marrakesh straight bar version. Really like them. Only problem is my hands fall asleep sometimes. Jones recommends tilting them down a little just wondering if you have had this problem? Also I have been looking for a bag for my bars. Could you do a short review a little more descriptive.
I’ve only had just a little issue with numbness but found that cycling gloves with gel pads eliminated that issue for me. I’m not sure I could tilt mine down much and it still be comfortable but that’s an interesting thought. I’ll do a more detailed review of the bag for you :)
