If you often train your memory about where the harmonics locate, it should be easy. Vito bratta are some of guitarist who really often using natural harmonics.
@@mariaelenakunstmann2713 Yeah, like EJ does. Im talking about shredders who play fast just because they wanna show off their skill without sounding melodic => the most annoying thing to listen to.
@@animamundii ej and andy timmons is the only guys who shred but doesn't sacrifice the melodic playing i actually like yngwie too but sometimes he put unecessary fill in his playing
Since so many people have inquired about the band line-up in this particular G3 show please allow me to help. Eric Johnson - Guitar Roscoe Beck - Bass Stephen Barber - Keyboard Brannen Temple - Drums I've seen Eric many times. Once I stood only 5 feet away from him and got to see him do this song. But I never saw him with this line-up which imho is the best one he ever assembled. All very, very seasoned professionals to be sure.
Brannen Temple´s playing is so solid and grooving. Roscoe Beck is another great, first time I heard him on Robben Ford´s brilliant line up The Blue Line. Talkin about tight rhythm section!
My brother let me borrow a cassette tape that had Eric Johnson concert footage, including this version of SRV. I was going through a divorce then, in 2000, and I must have watched this video and the "Manhattan" live video, a thousand times. For some reason these songs made the beer taste better at midnight and put me in a good mood during dark times back then. EJ became my favorite guitarist then and is still up there now. Long story short, it took me several years to pick and choose the right woman, but I found her. This video is still emotional for me, so thank you SO MUCH for posting this, G3VEVO!
One of the most gifted musicians the worlds has ever seen and unfortunently one of the most underated. Deserves a lot more credit for what he has done for the guitar world and music in general in the last 30 years. Icon. Can be put in the same sentence with the greats.
Incredibly smooth! Eric has such control of his scale:chord blends. I'm always amazed how he keeps his thumb behind the fret board when playing lead-riffs. Such dexterity.
It's maddening, isn't it?! It's so cool but when I sit down to play I can never get it to ring out so clearly and casually as he does. He even uses this technique on acoustic!
When I was younger I interested myself into guitar, and rapidly heard about the G3 with its fabulous masters. Later on, I discovered SRV, and became an absolut addict. I later discovered this magnificent tribute to my master SRV, and actually written by one of my first favorite guitarists. Music is awesome man :)
Eric Johnson is simply a unique Artist his Guitar Playing is awesome his choice of chords, his mastery of tone his clean Strat sounds like no one else is so enjoyable to hear him and whatch how he performs his technique everything. I wish i could see him live sonetime¡🙏🙏❤❤🎸🎸
Hes just so smazingly precise. and unlike many virtuoso class guitarists his songs are always melodic and pleasing to the ear at all times. Ive never heard him hit a questionable note , or go on too long.
Maravilhoso, pqp!
So weird to have EJ at the same show as those other two. The difference in his playing is so drastic. Yes he can shred but it's clearly different. He plays guitar more like a skilled pianist plays keys.
The selection of guitar pedal, amps abit conservative by EJ. That's why he developed this tone and melodic beautifully compared to JS & SV that having bold harsh shreding guitar sound
One Texan tipping his hat to another.
RIP SRV
They were buddies! Both born in ‘54, like the Strat.
2:16 perfect high tones
Perfect harmonics
If you often train your memory about where the harmonics locate, it should be easy. Vito bratta are some of guitarist who really often using natural harmonics.
Yes
Sounds like a whistle
The most mature playing on an electric guitar I’ve ever seen. He’s a true legend
Right? Not a single unneccesary note. Shredders could learn a thing or two from EJ, beside the best clean tone.
@@animamundii you can play like this
With harmonics, hendrix flavor..and play fast.
@@mariaelenakunstmann2713 Yeah, like EJ does.

A legend giving a tribute to a legend

Eric is so fluid, melodic, tasteful and brilliant.

Eric Johnson - Guitar

Great story! You found the right woman because you were inspired by the right musician. Something magical in EJs playing.
@@Rickscrux that is so wonderful to read
The G3?
I think you mean "VHS tape"
Surprised that nobody is talking about how smoothly af he gets rid of that bottleneck at 1:15
Yup, amazing
Yeah, I had to replay the video to see it.
That 1:15 mark immediately caught my attention.
It's called GRAVITY ;)
af?
SRV would love this.
One of the Best tone ever.
Hot rails. Just hot rails.
The way he bends down to pick up the bottleneck and then flicks it off his finger is among the slickest things I've ever seen.

Stevie Ray Vaughan how we miss you
That’s Jimi Hendrix bruh
GOOD AFTERNOON BROTHERS . MISTER ERIC JOHSON , IS A GOOD GUITAR PLAYER .
I like the way he smiles at 00:46
Yes
1:56-2:24 The tasty, fast harmonics runs in this solo are phenomenal!!
Incredibly smooth! Eric has such control of his scale:chord blends. I'm always amazed how he keeps his thumb behind the fret board when playing lead-riffs. Such dexterity.
It's so smooth and calm and clean and chill. How?
2:14 waowww

Mr Tones ....... All three "T's" - Touch, Tone and Taste!! What a beautiful tip of the hat to Stevie.
26 years old and rather listen to amazing artists like this... no fakery here
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸

No one on the planet has the touch EJ has to tap those harmonics so cleanly.
It's maddening, isn't it?! It's so cool but when I sit down to play I can never get it to ring out so clearly and casually as he does. He even uses this technique on acoustic!

Eric Johnson: Master.
Best in the world man ! No question.
No doubt, a true master level professional!
EJ and Roscoe always play so well together, love how they feed off each other 🤘🏻
Still, my favorite live version, and the one I play.
Best SRV version ever! Also, the best G3 ever!

young players today should be able to appreciate this , they're into the clean stuff and eric is the master
I love the drummer and the energy on this song!
Same! He’s killing
He's holding it down for the guitar
One of the guitar legends of all rock music ...
Hes just so smazingly precise. and unlike many virtuoso class guitarists his songs are always melodic and pleasing to the ear at all times. Ive never heard him hit a questionable note , or go on too long.
That was smooth.
And no where near 'dirty' enough for an SRV piece.
You can’t beat Eric Johnson!!
Never was a composition more apt to be called SRV.
Eric shredding us into the Unseen Realm !!!!
Reminds me of my Dad when I use to like this Guitar Song way before he passed away😊
He beautifully handles the guitar.
One of my favorite guitarist and one of my favorite songs.
Eric johnson and gary moore are my heroes!
Flávio VanHatten good taste
Add Mark Knopfler and we're on the same page!
Love his sounds, melody, harmony he is a true legend 😍😍
GUY , GOOD SOUND ... CONGRATULATIONS .
Eric has the best studio and live tones one could ever hope to hear. The man is a virtuoso with an ear for tone to match.
E. Johnson clean and very technical guitarist, I really like it !!
jajajaja excelente esa descripcion
Smooth like butter!
Man I like this song. Listening to it since I discovered it in 2003 or 2004 when my dad bought me my first G3 album.
👏👏
Love how he quickly uses the slide, then dumps it, never missing a beat
Wow another masterpice to re-listen to in this 2019
CANT WAIT FOR THE G3 REUNION TOUR!!!! FRESNO FEB. 5TH!!!!
His timing in this is immaculate❤
This was the DVD that introduced me to Eric Johnson, I was blown away; every other guitar player I looked up to suddenly became irrelevant!
Saw him last night...fantastic guitarist.
Combining all the elements..... awesome.... awesome!!!!
Yeah man! Go Eric! Such a smooth sound bay-bahs! Hope all is well, with whomever reads this post! Rock on & peace out!💜🌍
I really like the bassline on the 2nd guitar solo, amazing work by Roscoe Beck
Yeah, Roscoe is great. I love his playing and his sound
His slap bass on Manhattan of this same show is killer.
One of his Guitar Song i love
Thanks for the upload😮😊😊😊
Rest in peace SRV. Love u
Ive got this on VCD 1999 then i lost it. Thank you for uploading this wonderful music!! Glad i found it again thank you
He is top of G3
I like this drummer.
Maestro Erick Johnson.
One of the best. Great Eric!!!
I'm glad Satch is featuring all the great G3 performances. Now we can enjoy all of G3 officially
Those boys look and sound better than always, my best some new music is around God Bless

Maravilhoso, pqp!
I learned this off a transcription maybe 30 years ago and marveled at the innovation, phasing, etc. Then add the electronic sophistication. Magic.
I like how Eric dressed as if he is a dad going on Sunday afternoon hike with the family
Where is he going on Sunday?
Masterpiece of this true guitar hero!!!
Melhor G3! Eric Johnson uma lenda, que guitarrista genial...
MASTERPIECE
No one has ever practiced as much as Eric Johnson.
Magic in his fingers ❤️
G3 you love!
Perfection!
EJ is a legend, outdid Yngwie and Vai to the nines!
pure magic.
the transitions from clean to overdriven sounds are flawless ❤
That tone
The way he puts the slide on his finger while the chord is ringing 'round the 1:10 time mark...
Absolutely insane
i have the vcd in 2001, and this song 'SRV' is memorable in my mind.... very good song from eric johnson, nice performance, perfect tone as always!
So weird to have EJ at the same show as those other two. The difference in his playing is so drastic. Yes he can shred but it's clearly different. He plays guitar more like a skilled pianist plays keys.
Yeah, he has just such a different feel and approach. Which really just makes his tone and playing stand out from other legendary guitar artist.
The selection of guitar pedal, amps abit conservative by EJ. That's why he developed this tone and melodic beautifully compared to JS & SV that having bold harsh shreding guitar sound
i think one of interview with him that stated he was playing piano 1st then shifted to guitar as his main instruments... correct me if i'm wrong
the show is about guitar playing virtuosity. doesn't matter what style.
Exactly, pianist and like a violinist too 🙏 he’s unbelievable
The tone.
G3VEVO: thanks for posting. Eric has such a clean sounding playing style. This is awesome. Cheers!
2020, still listening
Mestre implacável da melodia. Sonoridade profunda que acalora a alma.
It is some crazy and deranged people in this world how you dislike this song unbelievable
Very special sound and staff ... 👌
I think EJ is underrated among top end guitarists
Try Jubu Smith, I think you'll get into it. He's a great player who definitely doesn't get recognition for being a top player in the field.
Yesss ...beutiful music...!!!!
Thanks mister Eric Johnson for SRV, you are genius!!!
Like this version SRV
So clean... Dang Jesus
