The famous 101 Strings Orchestra is one of the largest orchestras on records. The total number of musicians to the best of my knowledge is about 151-161.
They're one of those groups that was always changing personnel and was always trying something different. I snag a 101 album anytime I find one. The Living Strings from Camden in the UK is very similar and I am always on the look-out for their stuff as well.
