  • This is an easy version of the game changer. No brushes, just chenille and dubbing. Only 3 small shanks required, and one single hook. Easy!
    By using laser dub for the body instead of a brush, you can get a nice two tone color effect. Dark on top, light on bottom. This is a universal trait in baitfish no matter where you are fishing. This is basically impossible to achieve when using a brush or hen saddle. Personal preference I suppose.
    What’s also nice is laser dub comes in basically every color imaginable. So it’s easy to match whatever baitfish you are attempting to replicate. It’s widely available, consistent, and best of all CHEAP.
    This color scheme (olive over white) has been a proven winner, but tan over white is another favorite of mine.

    Great video: no bull, no music (I like music for music's same, not for window dressing) and what a killer idea w/ the laser dub. Thanks.

    Been trying to think of a way to get the nice white underside on the game changers. Glad I stumbled upon this video. Really good tie man!

      Exactly why I tie these. That 2 tone effect is super important I think.

    I just started getting into articulated patterns a couple of months ago , First one was a pinfish pattern , but I didn’t use any lead wire on it , it sinks real slowly after it’s wet ,I’ll come back and add some and try it again , I’ll be putting a few of these in my arsenal, and thanks for the vid .👍.

    If you want two tones you can just use clear finesse chenille and use a sharpie to color the top. But I’m going to try dubbing

      Very true. But I have found the sharpie fades pretty darn quickly. Cool thing about sharpies too is you can use multiple different colors, for fades and blushes. So yea, pros and cons to both.

    I tie similar patterns for tarpon when he is feeding with sardines, and I get better results than with classic tarpon flies.

    I am looking for the ultimate Northern Pike, Largemouth fly, do you think this fly would durable enough stand up to the teeth and heavy usage? It was a very nice video with good camera angles, lighting and no BS music. I liked and subscribed to your channel. Again, very well done!

      I can’t really speak to the durability on this fly. It’s made primarily for bass, and certainly not a pike specific fly. I’ve had a single one of these last me an entire season, and it endured a couple pike encounters. But if I had to choose an “ultimate” pike fly this would not be it. You could possibly substitute the laser dub with something more durable though, like EP fibers or SF Flash Blend.

    Are you using the same length finesse chenille for the whole thing, or stepping it up for the hook?

    • @erichgross7644
      @erichgross7644  2 роки тому

      Same. All medium length but trimmed a bit on the first shank.

    Does using braid for connecting hook to shank hold up okay?

      I’ve never had any issues. In fact I’ve had better success with braid vs wire. I’ve had a few flies with wire break because the wire gets brittle and cracks over time. I prefer braid personally but both are fine. Another good option is heavy monofilament, like 20 or 30 lb.

    Does this fly actually change the game?
