    My 6.5 x14 Supralite is my favorite out of my 6 snares. It sounds amazing. I love buying affordable snares and making them sound amazing.

      Totally! The 15” supralite sure packed the snap,crackle and pop for being a 15”

      Thanks @Timm1139 ! Just saw a couple pop up around $100 online. Guitar Center's Used site is flooded with them

    Great presentation. Almost everyone had an acro or one of these for band class in late 90's-early 00's.

      I remember 4th grade band there were 5 snares in the back - 4 acrolites and 1 wood snare that was older than the band teacher lol

    Ludwig seems to do snares right at all price points, and even their "student" and "budget" lines have always punched way above their weight. Your LM300 sounds great and gigworthy. Cheers!

      Totally! Acrolites were great studio secrets until everyone figured it out. Same thing is happening with these, too - used to find em for $70 all day!

    This snare sounds really good. I bought a Rockers kit from the 80's with a chrome over WOOD snare. 5x14 with that coating they put on the inside of Rockers Kits.
    I thought this is unusual, and put some new heads on it. After hitting a few times I took my heads back off and sold the whole set LOL. They did nothing for me... but this steel model sounds great and looks like my Supraphonic at a fast look.

      Never played a full rocker kit before. Ludwig standard, acrolite, and rocker steel like this one are all great “entry level” snares that hold way more weight. Guess that’s what happens when your older siblings are supraphonics and black beauties 😂.
      Keep an eye on Guitar Center and Sam Ash used - these pop up all the time, some way cheaper than others and in great shape

      Had a Rockers set classic lugs shallow toms the size of Eric Carrs kit from kiss. Sounded good with hydraulic heads.
      Didn’t like the wood 8 lug snare , but I also had a Supra and an acrolite as comparisons.
      I really liked this 10 lug Rocker especially med high and high tension.
      I’m sure you could make the old wooden rocker Rock.

    Nice! It really cracks at the medium and medium high range. The P88AC had been my go to for all my Ludwig upgraded drums. Love my bronze Ludwig Rocker. As always a great job Nick!

      Surprising for an entry level drum, right?! Even the internal muffler helps get more sounds than some high end snares. Bronze rockers are fantastic - that’s amazing you have that in your collection!!!
      You can’t beat the p88ac. Durable, sturdy, and just straight up works.

    I have one of these. They are great at every tuning to me. I love the 70s dry sound , but it's great for anything. Sounds great high. I recently turned it way down too cover Careless Whisper by Wham and it sound great!

    • @NickCostaMusic
      @NickCostaMusic  6 місяців тому

      I agree - for the price you can't beat it because of how versatile it is!
      That's awesome that you were able to use it for a cover - how did you tune it? Did you use any other dampening?

      @@NickCostaMusic l twisted it down as close to how it sounds on the song as possible. Low maybe a little toward mid and I just use the factory muffle.

      Pretty awesome when you can get the sound on a record with just the drum.

      Thanks @styxmarchuk ! It's a @ludwigdrumshq classic maple in electrostatic orange. 18X22, 8X12, and 14X16 (depthXdiameter)

    Very good sounding ''cheap'' snare. It seems that, even with Ludwig (they make such expensive snares...!), you don't need to spend a lot of $$ to have a snare sounding great on all tuning range ...! I think that, also, you are a tuning wizard ...!

    • @NickCostaMusic
      @NickCostaMusic  6 місяців тому +1

      Well said! You can't go wrong with @ludwigdrumshq , there's a reason they've been around this long and still making amazing drums.
      And thank you for the kind words regarding tuning. No wizard here, just many hours tuning drums by ear. Semi-tones are wild!

    How many wires are on that snare?

    • @NickCostaMusic
      @NickCostaMusic  2 місяці тому

      I think the generic ludwig wires are 20 strand
