A French UA-camr actually did this in a great, fun, wholesome, lighthearted way. He’s a UA-camr that’s been popular with middle schoolers and high schoolers mainly for years now, and he’s a pop culture icon in France. How he did this is he actually contacted the teachers, not the students, and then pranked the students by just acting like he was any normal student (it was also mostly college classes, so students who had followed him since they were young). It was so funny and wholesome!
To be fair- in James video it was his fans who gave him their code to their private calls, so he didn't bomb classes, just private calls his fans made purposely for him to join with no teacher. But that lady was right. Srry if I sounded annoying btw like idk-
This is so depressing to hear.. I used to attend a lot of NA meetings and even conventions, all over my country after my first rehab. NA was a place i felt safe. Where i could be vulnerable and express my most inner feelings,thoughts and secrets. The feeling of having a safe space like that has literally saved my life, more than once. I have no doubt in my mind, that i would not be alive today, if not for NA and the community. So to take that feeling of safety,privacy and anonymity(which is a huge part of why it works), away from someone, is absolutely repulsive, disgusting, egotistical behaviour, with an overwhelming clear indication of no empathy from whoever would not only find that funny, but go out of their way to actually do it.
Someone randomly joined my class and said homophobic and racist things then started randomly hit on the professor. It was uncomfortable and really gross.
This is why teachers are quitting. We need to start appreciating teachers. These people go to school for years, get little pay, just to get treated like trash. We need to do better.

Our zoom seminar was hijacked at my university. Our school was having an anti-racism, how to be an ally, type seminar. Someone decided to write derogatory and racist phrases all over the screen and in the chat box. They shut the whole seminar down 10 minutes after it started. It was very upsetting, and I never understood how people find zoom hijacking slightly entertaining.

Definitely, even kids in Highschool / Elementary. While not ok it's not exactly comparable, as someone could be physically carrying a weapon on them and could physically hurt the children, and even if they aren't carrying a weapon they can physically do something to traumatize the children. At worst in zoom something horrifying can be shown and harsh words can be said.
As a student doing zoom classes this would piss me off. I saw one video where the guy hijacked a zoom and claimed to be the brother of a random girl in the class and said she cheated on the test. Imagine that girl having to explain that you had never met that man in your life and get proof from like a parent or family member that you doesn’t have a brother.
Someone hacked into our zoom class but just said hi and wished us all safety and left so it didn't do much. I'm still really happy nothing more happened.
Another thing that could be considered worse: Here in Ontario, Canada , only one person needs to be aware of any form of recording on a call. It's perfectly legal as long as one person knows about what they're doing. I'm not sure about the rest of Canada, but that's how it is over here. Basically, if someone joined a Zoom call in a non-illegal manner, the intruder would also legally be able to record everything.

My teacher told me yesterday how someone joined her zoom classes (she thought it was a friend of one of her students in the meeting) and flashed their ass on camera. It’s annoying, not funny, and I wish people would just stop already because the world is already going through enough shit.
About a week ago, someone managed to get the name of one of the students in my class and changed theirs to match so they could get past the security measures of the zoom call. They spammed hentai links in the chat, typed profanities towards the teacher (including the n-word), and eventually screenshared hentai for the whole class to see. There are kids as young as 14 and 15 in that class... disgusting
I'm okay with hentai, but I'm not just gonna share it to people. It's just disgusting to share these things in an environment that they (students) are suppose to be learning instead of looking at hentai.
Yes it happened in my district. I do not use Zoom for my kiddos cause of this. It’s really scary to show children or anyone for that matter porn and think it’s ok. The worst part is it was child porn. Disgusting.

I'm still in highschool, and while my classes aren't using Zoom for online classes, my mom's, who's a junior high teacher, school is. And even before all of this, I was always fed up with students belittling innocent teachers who are doing their best to just teach the class (even if some are shitty, a lot of them are also just people doing their job) because I have witnessed first-hand how badly teachers are treated not only by their students, but by their workplace as well. My mom's school is SUPER old and the AC is absolute shit, and her room was one of the worse examples of this. There was mold growing in her room's air vents and she got really sick because of that and because of how unbearably hot it was. And even though she complained MULTIPLE times about this incident they didn't change or do anything. In fact, they gave her the exact same room for the next year. She was sick the entirety of the end of the year and through summer, and on top of that she had to deal with students who, most of which, didn't respect her. TL;DR treat your teachers with kindness. They're human too and they aren't being paid nearly enough for what they have to deal with sometimes.

I'm not sure if she's still in that room currently, but I do remember she would actually encourage the students to complain to their parents about it because they were upset with how hot it would get, so there's a chance it could've gotten fixed if that happened. However, I'm not 100% sure :/ but she's doing much better so I really hope that's the case

This happened to me last week. Three dudes just yelling the N-Word over and over again until eventually my teacher gave up and ended the class. I'm glad they changed Zoom to make it more secure, but I just feel so bad for the teacher since she's just trying to make the most out of a situation we're all in.
My two cents from my perspective as a teacher: I'm a teacher who teach teenagers. I am currently teaching my students via online classroom and I really don't appreciate it when someone's joining the class without my knowledge. Here's the thing. Most people don't realise it but teachers do make preparations before we teach. We call it lesson planning. Most of the time, I do my lesson plan based on the materials that I have to cover in that session AND the students themselves. I can confidently say that I know my students, I know how they behave in class, and I know the characteristics of each classes. Because of these things, I know what to expect every time I teach a class. That's why in my lesson planning I'll tweak and modify the way I teach and the activities we're gonna do based on all of the things I mentioned above. For example, some classes are better in just doing bookwork while others got bored easily so I have to do some kind of activity to deliver the same materials. The thing is, when someone unknown joins the class, it can COMPLETELY changes the characteristics of the class. For many reasons, students will act differently when they have someone new in class and that would throw everything that I've prepared out the window. So yeah, i completely agree with the girl in the tweet. Please, do not hijack the classroom. It's not good for both the teacher and the students.
Someone hijacked my school’s prayer service and commented “hate gays.” They also said “shut the fu*k up.” For what reason 😕. Also because of this we had to skip some of the prayer activities and end early. I myself am not a prayerful person but that was just so disrespectful.

The thing is, UA-camrs could EASILY do this in a fun, nice way. Lots of college classes (that don't take attendance) have a hard time getting people to show up; they could easily email a professor, offer to show up at a lecture and be a guest speaker (e.g. if it's an influencer, find a culture/sociology/media/business professor to find the course). Or for a high school, email the teacher or even principal and be like hey, does any teacher want me to talk about my career and the platform? There's so many ways to "crash" Zoom calls in a respectful way and actually contribute to society instead of harassing people.
Yeah, there was one girl -Lauren something- who was in a zoom class and took notes during the class and. didn't speak at all. She just was respectful and. told the teachers that their zoom codes were online. I love your idea too. But even if people 'crashed' soon classes and acted even semi-respectable.... this would be so much better.

@@alexjorga6412 Well there's some pretty brutal porn out there, with cutting, throwing, hitting, and feces and piss and vomit and then you have porn that tries to emulate a rape situation as closely as possible, a lot of the time that's the porn that is being shown in those hijackings. Imagine doing math and now suddently there is a video that is VERY similar to a real rape, or in some cases actual rape footage That is enough to traumatise someone even if everything on the porn is 100℅ consensual the people didn't consent to watching it. And on top of it you have it being shown to random people online on a place that you are supposed to feel safe, many of which are teenagers and kids who are most likely to not be very profoundly sexually educated, so boom now you don't feel safe in that environment anymore and you have kids who just had a terrible first experience about sex and might get some level of sex-repulsion because of the trauma of seeing someone so shocking and violent

Not like I have a hard enough time as it is trying to pass ONLINE APs and do well in school so that I could go to a good college. Things are hard enough as it is since everything that worked before, do well in school or exams like APs and SATs, volunteer or participate in clubs and get leadership positions, etc. is so much more difficult or uncertain or straight up impossible, and then people are trying to make it even harder. i got zoom bombed once and they just kept moaning before my teacher booted them off. i felt bad for my teacher because HE apologized. the only one apologizing should be that one guy because he wasted everyone's time. my brother also got zoom bombed and they kept yelling out swear words to the teacher. he is sixth grade. nowadays, children swear, but it just infuriates me because we want to pass our classes, and it is harder to do so if our time is wasted because of these assholes. edit: my brother told me he got zoombombed again except the guy was rapping, and my brother told me he was spitting fire-- the aftermath was that the teacher just continued the lesson. she didn't even boot him off or anything. x)
In my class the “bomber” was acting like a real student and our teacher was trying to answer all of his questions about the lesson then he just started swearing at him and using slurs, I felt so bad because he also apologized for wasting our time even though he was just trying to help who he thought was a student.

My mom is a teacher and she has been working her ass off more than usual. All the teachers are trying to fit in as much as they possibly can and do end of year assessments all without being near the kids. Also, the video calls are the only way that teachers can talk to their students face to face. My mom has actually been missing her students a lot and loves it whenever they have a google meet. Especially with the end of the school year coming up, this is going to be hard for a lot of teachers. They won’t be able to hug their students and say goodbye to them on the last day of school. It will just end up being the last call of the year. Then my state might end up continuing distance learning until January or longer. So us students might not end up being able to meet our new teachers in person for the next school year. All the amazing teachers who work their asses off and are doing everything they can to make school semi normal deserve a raise. People don’t understand all the hard work teachers are doing

They started screensharing and playing some Hitler videos on liveleak. They also started saying terrible things to our spanish teacher, and she was silent the whole time, then they somehow made their way into her computer were writing racial things and were trying to download a virus, I’m not sure if they were just screensharing but I’m pretty sure they did get into her computer somehow to the point where they were trying to download a virus. Afterwards she left the meeting and the rest of the class was dead silent, so I just left and just deleted zoom. My mom texted our spanish teacher about it and we found out she was really scared and she was shaking, I feel really bad for her still.

As a teacher myself: I find this incredibly disrespectful and makes our job harder. We are required by state to do these meetings in order to keep our jobs. In order to make money, people are creating misfortune and situations for others. Not to mention the teacher is responsible for things that appear in the video chats. As someone whose currently in 8th grade and is (or, was) attending school Zoom meetings, I can really say that the hijacking has been a huge deal. We had someone, who sounded like an adult man, join our Zoom meeting only to constantly un-mute himself screaming the n-word repeatedly and screen-sharing BDSM pornography. Again, we're 8th graders, 13-15 years old. And he was an adult man, or at least sounded as such. It was pretty bad, and I decided I'm done attending said Zoom meetings. It's not comedy, it's harassment, and it's illegal. I find it insane, and I mean absolutely insane, that anyone over the age of 10, let alone grown adults, would think it's even slightly okay to scream cuss words (especially the n-word) and screen-share porn.

I feel like teachers should just prerecord classes and upload them to whatever website you guys use to get your assignments or turn in assignments on in your state ( for my college in VA the website was blackboard) because everyone knows how to use it and you have to have a school ID to even get access. But I guess they were trying to make it more interactive by using zoom in case anyone had questions. Then again there’s a discussion group part of blackboard too so that would have worked as well
Something like this happened to my class, but we were using Google meets. (The story) So this happened on our first day back to school (August 31st, to be exact) all of us had joined at the time we were told to, some a little late either for technical reasons or they slept in late. Our teacher began going over rules & regulations, what to do if you're having technical issues, class rules, you know, the basic stuff you'd cover on the first day. About 10 minutes in, some random guy (none of us knew him) joined our meet & started swearing & saying really really inappropriate things, such as "whats up sexy" "hey beautiful how u doin?" And, I'm pretty sure he was talking to the teacher as all of us but her had our mics & cameras off. Our teacher was very visibly disturbed and kicked him out of the meet thankfully. As a teacher who has to use zoom, the lack of respect is pretty jarring... we are putting in overtime to make our lessons effective over the internet and aren't getting paid for the extra work, in fact, many state governments are trying to cut our salaries to make up for defecits. Creating an online course that is effective usually requires a full year to prepare for, but we got less than a week. I teach at a univeristy and let me tell you, if you think we get paid any better there than k-12 its a damn lie. Most of your lecturers are adjuncts and grad students, not full professors so we get paid on the lowest pay tiers (for the same work) which is usually about as much as what you'd make in retail lol. Grad assistants at my university qualify for medicaid they make so little. I haven't had my class sessions bombed yet and have precautions in place, but honestly I'd probably just end the session immediately to kick them out and the email everyone to log back on.

I appreciate you talking about this. As a teacher, we're aware that we're usually the punching bag. None of use came into the job for the money. We came because we care about kids and educating the future generations. Sometimes teachers stay too long or lose their path... I do my best to call them out on it. I'm just here for the kids. I'm a middle school art teacher but I've basically forgoed my entire curriculum in order to create a safe space for my kids. I post assignments, easy ones... but mostly I meet with them (google hangouts) to make sure their eating, being cared for, healthy, loved, etc. It's so hard seeing but not really seeing all of my kids during this.
I know this is a month late, but it's wonderful what your doing for your students. :) It's nice to be reminded that people are looking out for each other still.

Thank you for taking the time fighting the crazy schedule to still teach. My lessons have been moved online to zoom also, and I'm terrified because most people in the play I was working on are high schoolers and parents with young children. People taking the time to ruin the hard work teachers, directors, instructors, etc. they are ruin the experience for those who have already paid for lessons. The added password I feel does help limit access and my fear for something bad appearing in these spaces have gone down a bit but danger still lurks around the corner.

He’s a UA-camr that’s been popular with middle schoolers and high schoolers mainly for years now, and he’s a pop culture icon in France. How he did this is he actually contacted the teachers, not the students, and then pranked the students by just acting like he was any normal student (it was also mostly college classes, so students who had followed him since they were young). It was so funny and wholesome!

This is so depressing to hear.. I used to attend a lot of NA meetings and even conventions, all over my country after my first rehab.
NA was a place i felt safe. Where i could be vulnerable and express my most inner feelings,thoughts and secrets.
The feeling of having a safe space like that has literally saved my life, more than once. I have no doubt in my mind, that i would not be alive today, if not for NA and the community.
So to take that feeling of safety,privacy and anonymity(which is a huge part of why it works), away from someone, is absolutely repulsive, disgusting, egotistical behaviour, with an overwhelming clear indication of no empathy from whoever would not only find that funny, but go out of their way to actually do it.

Our zoom seminar was hijacked at my university. Our school was having an anti-racism, how to be an ally, type seminar. Someone decided to write derogatory and racist phrases all over the screen and in the chat box. They shut the whole seminar down 10 minutes after it started. It was very upsetting, and I never understood how people find zoom hijacking slightly entertaining.

Some people ARE getting hurt by these “pranks”: college student. Specifically college students who has to PAY for college. They are trying to pass and if they get zoom bombed and their time is wasted, so is their money.
Definitely, even kids in Highschool / Elementary. Their education already has been heavily disrupted, cancelled classes, weeks or regular disruptions are just going to compound it further until they leave with grades far lower than they should be which'll have a domino effect on their life.

Another thing that could be considered worse: Here in Ontario, Canada , only one person needs to be aware of any form of recording on a call. It's perfectly legal as long as one person knows about what they're doing. I'm not sure about the rest of Canada, but that's how it is over here. Basically, if someone joined a Zoom call in a non-illegal manner, the intruder would also legally be able to record everything.

My mums a teacher, if ANYONE cussed her out for doing her job she would be crushed. She’s sweet and kind and the best woman i am ever met, she’s probably never come back from it.

I'm still in highschool, and while my classes aren't using Zoom for online classes, my mom's, who's a junior high teacher, school is. And even before all of this, I was always fed up with students belittling innocent teachers who are doing their best to just teach the class (even if some are shitty, a lot of them are also just people doing their job) because I have witnessed first-hand how badly teachers are treated not only by their students, but by their workplace as well. My mom's school is SUPER old and the AC is absolute shit, and her room was one of the worse examples of this. There was mold growing in her room's air vents and she got really sick because of that and because of how unbearably hot it was. And even though she complained MULTIPLE times about this incident they didn't change or do anything. In fact, they gave her the exact same room for the next year. She was sick the entirety of the end of the year and through summer, and on top of that she had to deal with students who, most of which, didn't respect her.
TL;DR treat your teachers with kindness. They're human too and they aren't being paid nearly enough for what they have to deal with sometimes.

I'm not sure if she's still in that room currently, but I do remember she would actually encourage the students to complain to their parents about it because they were upset with how hot it would get, so there's a chance it could've gotten fixed if that happened. However, I'm not 100% sure :/ but she's doing much better so I really hope that's the case

My two cents from my perspective as a teacher: I'm a teacher who teach teenagers. I am currently teaching my students via online classroom and I really don't appreciate it when someone's joining the class without my knowledge.
Here's the thing. Most people don't realise it but teachers do make preparations before we teach. We call it lesson planning. Most of the time, I do my lesson plan based on the materials that I have to cover in that session AND the students themselves.
I can confidently say that I know my students, I know how they behave in class, and I know the characteristics of each classes. Because of these things, I know what to expect every time I teach a class. That's why in my lesson planning I'll tweak and modify the way I teach and the activities we're gonna do based on all of the things I mentioned above. For example, some classes are better in just doing bookwork while others got bored easily so I have to do some kind of activity to deliver the same materials.
The thing is, when someone unknown joins the class, it can COMPLETELY changes the characteristics of the class. For many reasons, students will act differently when they have someone new in class and that would throw everything that I've prepared out the window.
So yeah, i completely agree with the girl in the tweet. Please, do not hijack the classroom. It's not good for both the teacher and the students.

The thing is, UA-camrs could EASILY do this in a fun, nice way. Lots of college classes (that don't take attendance) have a hard time getting people to show up; they could easily email a professor, offer to show up at a lecture and be a guest speaker (e.g. if it's an influencer, find a culture/sociology/media/business professor to find the course). Or for a high school, email the teacher or even principal and be like hey, does any teacher want me to talk about my career and the platform?
There's so many ways to "crash" Zoom calls in a respectful way and actually contribute to society instead of harassing people.

That is enough to traumatise someone even if everything on the porn is 100℅ consensual the people didn't consent to watching it. And on top of it you have it being shown to random people online on a place that you are supposed to feel safe, many of which are teenagers and kids who are most likely to not be very profoundly sexually educated, so boom now you don't feel safe in that environment anymore and you have kids who just had a terrible first experience about sex and might get some level of sex-repulsion because of the trauma of seeing someone so shocking and violent

Not like I have a hard enough time as it is trying to pass ONLINE APs and do well in school so that I could go to a good college. Things are hard enough as it is since everything that worked before, do well in school or exams like APs and SATs, volunteer or participate in clubs and get leadership positions, etc. is so much more difficult or uncertain or straight up impossible, and then people are trying to make it even harder. I had a teacher actually cry and unable to teach for the rest of the day because of people hijacking the class and shout at her, it's really sad and not at all funny.

i got zoom bombed once and they just kept moaning before my teacher booted them off. i felt bad for my teacher because HE apologized. the only one apologizing should be that one guy because he wasted everyone's time. my brother also got zoom bombed and they kept yelling out swear words to the teacher. he is sixth grade. nowadays, children swear, but it just infuriates me because we want to pass our classes, and it is harder to do so if our time is wasted because of these assholes.

My mom is a teacher and she has been working her ass off more than usual. All the teachers are trying to fit in as much as they possibly can and do end of year assessments all without being near the kids. Also, the video calls are the only way that teachers can talk to their students face to face. My mom has actually been missing her students a lot and loves it whenever they have a google meet. Especially with the end of the school year coming up, this is going to be hard for a lot of teachers. They won’t be able to hug their students and say goodbye to them on the last day of school. It will just end up being the last call of the year. Then my state might end up continuing distance learning until January or longer. So us students might not end up being able to meet our new teachers in person for the next school year. All the amazing teachers who work their asses off and are doing everything they can to make school semi normal deserve a raise. People don’t understand all the hard work teachers are doing

I’m late as hell but, just recently we had a zoom meeting with my spanish teacher, everything was going well until like 3 random people came in. They started screensharing and playing some Hitler videos on liveleak. They also started saying terrible things to our spanish teacher, and she was silent the whole time, then they somehow made their way into her computer were writing racial things and were trying to download a virus, I’m not sure if they were just screensharing but I’m pretty sure they did get into her computer somehow to the point where they were trying to download a virus. Afterwards she left the meeting and the rest of the class was dead silent, so I just left and just deleted zoom. My mom texted our spanish teacher about it and we found out she was really scared and she was shaking, I feel really bad for her still.

As a teacher myself: I find this incredibly disrespectful and makes our job harder. We are required by state to do these meetings in order to keep our jobs. In order to make money, people are creating misfortune and situations for others. Not to mention the teacher is responsible for things that appear in the video chats. Can you imagine the work that the teacher has to go through to make up for someone else’s actions?

We had something like that here in KZ. Someone joined a five graders' class and played porn on screen. That is absolutely damaging and disgusting, not mentioning illegal.
As someone whose currently in 8th grade and is (or, was) attending school Zoom meetings, I can really say that the hijacking has been a huge deal. We had someone, who sounded like an adult man, join our Zoom meeting only to constantly un-mute himself screaming the n-word repeatedly and screen-sharing BDSM pornography. Again, we're 8th graders, 13-15 years old. And he was an adult man, or at least sounded as such. It was pretty bad, and I decided I'm done attending said Zoom meetings. It's not comedy, it's harassment, and it's illegal. I find it insane, and I mean absolutely insane, that anyone over the age of 10, let alone grown adults, would think it's even slightly okay to scream cuss words (especially the n-word) and screen-share porn.
My school was planning to use zoom but after realizing we're the most inmature class in the whole school they decided to not use it 😖

I feel like teachers should just prerecord classes and upload them to whatever website you guys use to get your assignments or turn in assignments on in your state ( for my college in VA the website was blackboard) because everyone knows how to use it and you have to have a school ID to even get access. But I guess they were trying to make it more interactive by using zoom in case anyone had questions. Then again there’s a discussion group part of blackboard too so that would have worked as well

So this happened on our first day back to school (August 31st, to be exact) all of us had joined at the time we were told to, some a little late either for technical reasons or they slept in late. Our teacher began going over rules & regulations, what to do if you're having technical issues, class rules, you know, the basic stuff you'd cover on the first day. About 10 minutes in, some random guy (none of us knew him) joined our meet & started swearing & saying really really inappropriate things, such as "whats up sexy" "hey beautiful how u doin?" And, I'm pretty sure he was talking to the teacher as all of us but her had our mics & cameras off. Our teacher was very visibly disturbed and kicked him out of the meet thankfully. We continued on as normal after that but yeah. Thanks for reading this all the way through if you did

As a teacher who has to use zoom, the lack of respect is pretty jarring... we are putting in overtime to make our lessons effective over the internet and aren't getting paid for the extra work, in fact, many state governments are trying to cut our salaries to make up for defecits. Creating an online course that is effective usually requires a full year to prepare for, but we got less than a week. I teach at a univeristy and let me tell you, if you think we get paid any better there than k-12 its a damn lie. Most of your lecturers are adjuncts and grad students, not full professors so we get paid on the lowest pay tiers (for the same work) which is usually about as much as what you'd make in retail lol. Grad assistants at my university qualify for medicaid they make so little. I haven't had my class sessions bombed yet and have precautions in place, but honestly I'd probably just end the session immediately to kick them out and the email everyone to log back on.

As a teacher, we're aware that we're usually the punching bag.
None of use came into the job for the money. We came because we care about kids and educating the future generations. Sometimes teachers stay too long or lose their path... I do my best to call them out on it.
I'm just here for the kids. I'm a middle school art teacher but I've basically forgoed my entire curriculum in order to create a safe space for my kids.
I post assignments, easy ones... but mostly I meet with them (google hangouts) to make sure their eating, being cared for, healthy, loved, etc.
It's so hard seeing but not really seeing all of my kids during this.
I know this is a month late, but it's wonderful what your doing for your students. :) It's nice to be reminded that people are looking out for each other still.

Do you know how most of the lectures are boring and also you don't teach anything and make student do everything on their own? Thank you for taking the time fighting the crazy schedule to still teach. My lessons have been moved online to zoom also, and I'm terrified because most people in the play I was working on are high schoolers and parents with young children. People taking the time to ruin the hard work teachers, directors, instructors, etc. they are ruin the experience for those who have already paid for lessons.
The added password I feel does help limit access and my fear for something bad appearing in these spaces have gone down a bit but danger still lurks around the corner.
Thank you for the effort and time you put in to make things effective. Really, the hijacking of Zoom calls is just injust. People just want to be able to do their jobs properly, and others that have no shame decide to go and harass them.
one dude zoombombed my class, it was really uncomfortable he harassed my teacher and it was really weird. Please don't do this, it's really weird and rude. *we also had to cancel our zoom classes so the teacher just texted us the activities/essays* so luckily my teacher learned to make the waiting room thingy. So now we just continue or zoom classes, but i feel really bad for the teachers.
