Thanks for posting this. I really love the way you break the process down into getting the colours and tones sorted out, then move on to shadows. Very slick and professional. Awesome
I'm sure this is a perfect tutorial for people who know all the crucial tools but as someone who tries to learn everything by himself, this is Chinese at its finest
i was gonna comment something similar, i really enjoyed the video but to try and replicate these techniques would be impossible without learning PS and AE first and even after learning them you'd still have to learn the techniques in the video almost step by step. i don't personally use PS since gimp is just as good just a tiny bit slower at rendering, but the cost difference is a seller for me since gimp is free. i also don't use flash like Andrea does but instead use OpenToonz, in the end it dosnt make a difference, it just takes time to transfer the techniques from software to software never the less i really appreciate the videos Andrea makes, there is a lot to learn here!
I couldn't have seen this at a more perfect time. I've been struggling with a background art style for my game project and this is exactly the what I'm looking for. Love it.
Hi! I recently found your channel and I love it! The end results relax my mind. Please, I would like to see more background videos, I'm studying to be a concept artist and I found your´s videos soooo interesting and helpful
Like the result of this drawing ! I think that for the dancing shadows maybe using a fractal noise effect in After effects could render it even more better and a bit more realistic ! (Also thinking that you can do all of this effect dirrectly in After effects, but I understand that is maybe more "easy" to do it in Photoshop)
Where were u girl... 😍 thiz much of detail i never hav seen in any youtube channel which earn million subscribers💗(its hard to get like from me but u did)👌🔥🔥
hi dis video is help full to every 2d BG artist. very clearly explained. thanku very much for dis video. If any 2D Background works pls tell me. I am 2d BG artist.
thank you for your lovely video i found it so useful, but please may I ask you how you did the mask for the outlines. Ive watched your video a few times, but I dont understand how you did it.
I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Queen’s University in Canada. I didn’t learn anything to do with animation there, or how to work digitally so I am mostly self taught. I read some books, found stuff on the internet and made friends with other artists and animators.
@@AndreaGerstmann That is amazing! I want to get into this kind of work and I have been watching your videos and the BaM videos to learn more. Were you able to get work in animation being self taught?
Yes I was able to get work self taught. The trick is to prove you can do the job to the right people. I started participating in Loopdeloop (an online animation challenge). I figured I could make essentially a student film. Shortly after my first submission I was approached by Nickelodeon. Eventually I got a job with them, and I’ve worked at a number of studios since. Keep in mind the quality needs to be there you need to stand out from the crowd.
Generally we work directly from the storyboard for backgrounds and make sure to accommodate any zooms by making the file big enough. Sometimes we make a second file traced with thinner lines for the close up. Shows can have vector BGs but they rarely do. Also never import psd files into adobe animate. It automatically compresses the file making your BGs blurry. Export some pngs for animate or better yet do compositing in after effects
hi, i am very interested in learning your tutorial but this is too fast, would you like to make a new video that can be easily understood by beginners like me
Those dancing shadows may just be the smartest thing I've seen today. Wow. I was skeptical at first, but now I'm impressed.

I hav one doubt?? If i import thiz type of psd(pixel) into animate cc & zoom the grass fields.. shuld it breaks(becaz its not a Vector file)😅
