This guy should have another 100k subs, he's super talented and lives in a stunning part of the world. He makes it look easy but he's methodical and patient. Its not always about the gear.
You don't want to discourage haters from giving you a thumbs down or commenting. Both things increase your engagement score with UA-cam and get your video out in front of more viewers. Just ignore the j-holes. Great channel, BTW. I'm over in Bend, OR, and we got buried in record snow last month too. First time in 20 years that I'll have significant snow in my yard at the beginning of April.
That snow is deep....WOW..Great photos. Thanks for the ride along
You de man!
Little late swith this comment, but... I think that there is nothing wrong with this type of vlog. Great yt channel. Inpires me a lot. Greetings from Poland.
You're outdoing yourself Steve, this is AMAZING!!! Everything about it, and the snow dusted tree!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two of my favorite wildlife photographers, you and Morten Hilmer. Just beautiful images and footage. Thanks for sharing Steve
Joe
Beautiful icy landscape ... wonderful
So glad you spotted your first owl this season. It was cute! Hope he/she found itself a meal. 🙏
Yay an owl sighting, nice story telling
Compilations can be great. This is one of the great ones! I suddenly had "give me a home where the buffalo roam" running through my head after looking at the bison with the Tetons in the background😂
One of your finest videos, Steve. We, too, have had the longest and coldest winter here in central Alberta. And, lots of snow. I love winter and so your ventures are very appealing.
Another awesome video Steve. Being from Nashville where we only had 1 dusting of snow this year I cant relate to that amount of snow. Keep up the great work.
2nd snowiest February ever here in Moscow, Idaho with 45 inches. I can only imagine dealing with a record month in Jackson!
This is one of your best videos, Steve. I marvel at what you do. I am such a fair weather photographer.
Haha, put on a jacket and get out there👍
Man February was crazy! it was like Narnia out there by Kelly. lol
Great video, thanks
Loved the format! Can't wait for the book (and spring).
Kewl Dude !
Thanks Steve! Even my wife enjoys your videos.
Even your wife? haha
😂👍
Most of our snow melted and we had 72 degrees yesterday and supposed to be 74 today. Forks, Wa just wanted to brag a little 😝
Pretty cool, photography from your car haha - I wish I could do that - why not maybe I'll try it
Sure, from the car, by foot, by bike, boat, whatever👍
Sitting here in my Jackson Hole sweatshirt wondering why anyone who goes out into MINUS 25 degree weather to photograph that beautiful country for us would feel the need to apologize for this compilation, Steve. The weird ones are the two who gave you the "thumbs down".
It looks like a tough winter for the Natives
Nice little summary, Steve. Well done. Now...time for spring.
A beautiful farewell to this season in the winter wonderland, although before the spring comes, we can still expect some snowfall.
Another great video Steve, I'm glad you found the Great Grey Owl and I hope the spring brings you lots of luck with the Owls, maybe even a nesting pair. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'll be out there trying👍
Hi ,Steve ! Great video, the beautiful nature ! I want to throw everything and rush to your region ! With respect Evgeny !
Absolutely stunning! Thanks for putting it together.
Thanks for the video Steve! Appreciate all you do!
Great job! I really enjoyed watching it.
Hi Steve great video I love taking pictures in the snow when we get some which is not very often I live in Shrewsbury Shropshire United Kingdom
Excellent!
So much snow, and so nice footage. The animals seems have problems like you;-) Thanks for sharing...
Nice video, Thanks! Greetings from stormy northern germany! Whithout snow...
I'm a weirdo photography type person too, haha! Happy to be one of your people :) I loved this video, great compilation of some beautiful snowy days, awesome footage and photos, Steve! That owl looked so beautiful in the snowy scene!
you're not alone ;) lol
Great video Steve, it looks a testing location for the animals during winter, and paradise for them in the summer. At least When their not been chased by a bigger animal who's looking for dinner. 👍🏻
Really nice footage. I feel for that coyote trying to get through in the really deep snow. The clip of the Ptarmigan (?) poking his head out from the snow was great - didn't know what to expect initially. Nice images at the end, especially the Tetons with the snow field and the isolated, frosty tree.
Thanks! That bird was a sage grouse👍
That was a great video Steve. Don't underestimate hodgepodge. Hopefully things are starting to thaw a bit up there now. Thx for sharin.
As always, a great video to start my day with. (Well, the video and a good cup of coffee.) Thanks for another excellent video!
A wierdo photography type here. Loved the images.
Nice video. Wish I could give 2 thumbs up to counter the 2 thumbs down. What's not to like here? well done.
Haha, I don't get the thumbs down thing either...
I‘m a weirdo for sure, when it comes to photography. I have the obsession you have for owls for our native orchids.
Albeit I do not have your skills :)
Awesome Steve, Last year this time I was all over Island Park Idaho, Jackson and the Tetons and now I am in Hot & Sunny Thailand... Thanks for the great content. If you want those Tigers and Clouded Leopards I mentioned before come out and I'll show you some extreme wildlife here in Thailand ;)
Nice vlog Steve... were those coyotes or wolves? Looked like coyotes to me. I was in YNP from Feb 10 through 16. Got down to -8 degrees, but nothing close to -25 degrees. All the best!
Thanks! Yes those were coyotes. Wolves have been scarce this year...
How in the world do those creatures survive out there,it’s 55 in Florida and I’m 🥶
Nice to receive the update on the book, can’t wait.
Great video. Shows how much snow the area got this year. Why would an owl stay in the area and not head further south in search of food. I wonder if the mortality rate will be higher this year amongst the wildlife. Any bear sightings yet. I see there’s been several in YNP.
Some stay in the valley and some migrate. The smart ones migrated this year......
Steve you obviously are very adept at spotting
owls. Do you have any tips or pointers for doing so. I've always been able to spot the larger animals but have never been able to locate owls. Any suggestions?
Hope that wasn't Iaasc car! who was the first music presentation. The guitar. Love the Vlog.
That song is Blossoming Tree by Wanderer's Trove
Hey Steve, what roads do you recommend to take? Or places to visit to see wild animals. I am visiting tetons and Yellowstone next month. Thank you.
Can confirm weirdo here 😊
Thanks Steve for the fantastic video. The images were beautiful, tough to pick a favorite. -25 deg. too cold for me. I give you a lot of credit. The guitar music in the beginning was very beautiful, who was the artist? One suggestion you need to get a pair of snowshoes.
Tom
That song is Blossoming Tree by Wanderer's Trove. And I do have snowshoes and use them but it's really hard to vlog with the tripods, cameras, and snowshoes...
Steve thanks for the reply. I am going to look for Wanders Trove. I get it about the snowshoes.
-25° 😭 not sure I could handle that. So beautiful out there though.
It's not so bad... As long as you have good winter clothes...
Snowshoes!
Haha yes I have snowshoes and use them but it's really hard to vlog with all the tripods and camera and snowshoes...
Steve Mattheis soooo, snowshoes for the tripod???
Dang. That's beautiful but I'd freeze to death. #TexasCoastisWarmer
Super set of images at the end! How do you shoot with gloves on? I have flip-tio gloves but as soon as I expose my fingertips to the cold, they freeze within a minute. So winter shooting is a chore. Glove recommendation? Thanks.
Yep, thanks for linking to that video👍
Steve Mattheis thanks, and congrats on hitting 10K subs! And thanks @Steve Horn for the video link!
Steve Horn thanks so much for the video link. I prefer flip-tips if possible because I like to shoot landscapes via Live View, but I need warmer ones than those I have now. My Canon 5DM4's touch screen is great and I've gotten spoiled. I do have a pair of smart-phone liner gloves, but they're synthetic and don't give much protection. I see now there are Merino wool liner gloves that also give touch screen functionality, so I'll look into them. Thank God the cold weather is just about done, so I have maybe 9 months to find a good solution.
