I waited 8 months to take my practical because i was terrified, i didnt study or anything for it, just bought the kit and i watched your videos 3 times the day before my test and i passed! while i do not recommend that lol it worked for me.
i just graduated a month ago and just past my written test last week. i went ahead and scheduled my practical because i was told there was a 2 month wait…they were able to get me in within a week. i’m just praying because yes, its only been a month since ive been out of school but i feel like ive forget everything. i take it on wednesday so im binging these videos lmao
Thank you for all your videos !! I finish school like 2 years ago but for many reasons I haven’t do the last Test but this is the time and I appreciate for all your help !! And wish me luck
Happy wonderful afternoon thank you for doing these new videos they are so appreciate it can you give us advice on what would be the best shears and the best clippers if one want to purchase some outside of what they were given in their kits of Cosmetology? And should they be 5 in or 6 in? To give you good for your practical exam for cosmetology? Thank you so much.
Hello!!! I love how u teach each service ,I learning a lot 🥳I got a question , when we do the cut with raiser I can have open or I have to close each cut and open and close ?
Our students do remove everything before raising their hand that they are done , they only leave out the haircutting comb just in case the rater wants to check the haircut 🍀🍀
Hi I don’t understand the first 2 questions . But to answer your last question, you sweep clean up and remove everything and only leave out a comb and shears just like the video . They will check your haircut but they may not cut your mannequin, so no the cape does not need to be on .
Your videos are so informative thank you so so much i am Re applying for my cosmetology license here in Texas and I need a lot of brushing up. Do you happen to know in what order do they do the test.
Hi thank you for watching, I have the link to the psi bulletin in the description box which tell you the order.. also if you go to the cosmetology playlist once you get to the practical videos they are all in order for which you will be performing the sections 😊 hope this helps .
can we use a wig stand instead of the wig head clamp? I have been learning with the wig stand thats over 4ft edit: also do we not need towels in our kits? all my kits my teachers made me put 2 towels in each bag
I’m practicing the cut and did the perimeter and then went into the 180 however on the first back quadrant when I bought the hair back down some hairs were longer then the perimeter … will I get points deducted if I cut the bottoms with shears to even it out ?
It won’t cause you to fail that’s for sure, I remember being trained the same way many moons ago, maintaining sanitary conditions around you is key along with demonstrating steps asked . You setting comb down on a disinfected surface for a few seconds should be ok .
Hi! So for the one length section, we can just do the perimeter and then move onto layers? We don't need to go through section by section finishing the one length then move to layers?
Question? I know we have 42 mins to complete the haircut. So lets just say if a student finishes the haircut exactly at 40 minutes. Will the student have time after the examiner looks over the haircut to sweep and clean up without points being deducted? Or will the student be deducted points for not completing the haircut and cleaning up within the 42 minutes that are given?
That’s a great question and honestly I do not know for sure, I feel like every site (rater)is different and every student I talk to personally about their test always has a different experience during their exam 😕 I don’t see why they would deduct points but … then again they are unpredictable. 🍀🍀
Does our mannequin need to come pre cut already? I planned to buy a brand new mannequin and use it for state board right out the box, but my teacher told me that isn’t correct. What cut does our mannequin need if pre cutting is required?
Hi, so we don’t need to cut the entire head with a razor and then follow with a layered cut? We only need to do the bottom perimeter? Thank you so much! I take my test on Tuesday 😊
I completely understand yes the mannequin used in the video the quality is really good . 😕 it’s from a company that sells to schools for cosmetology kits.
Hi, My practical exam is on 19th June and i am having problem in cutting with razor i bought from amazon but that razor is not cutting hairs so plz someone tell me where i can buy proper razor. Yary could you provide me amazon's link, I will be very grateful if you can help me. Thanks
@@GlamAndBeyond today i went to the Monique hair & beauty supply store, but there was not for cutting. was only for thinning and texturizing. and the shopkeeper told me that is not for cutting. please advise. i have amazon (prime) so i can receive 2nd day .
Yari I bought the manequin the you have on you're Amazon store and it came with the name on the front it says Debra and on the bottom it has the company's name who made her now my question is can we still take her? Just asking since I know that the manequin cannot have any writing on it.
Yes if you want to you can take an extra pair just in case , but let’s hope that doesn’t happen. try to have good control and relax your hands a bit when cutting focus all will be good
Well remember you have to cut at least 1 inch all around during the haircut . So as long as you think once done you will be able to perform the rest of the sections comfortably at that length then it should be fine at the length you are taking it at 8”
@@GlamAndBeyond i passed my practical exam this morning!! thank you so much for these videos ❤️ i wanted to update and say that i cut the finger off of a glove for the mannequin stand… they didn’t have a problem with it!

@@cvero400 yes noticed how I kept the cape but removed the towel and once it was time for the wax section I simply added a new towel around the neck, watch all videos in order to help you with a full understanding 🍀🍀🍀
@GlamAndBeyond so the raters will not take off points if you don't remove the towel, cape, towel on the facial and add a new towel, cape, towel for the wax??
Also on the razor can the razor be the straight one oh does it have to be like the one you have on the video? Sorry for so many questions I have my test tomorrow.
@@GlamAndBeyondHi Yary. My question is about the razor that should be used. I have the one that came with my cosmetology kit. It's straight and has a plastic cover over the razor teeth, can that be used? I don't understand why it would be included in my $1,000 kit if it's not allowed during my stateboard practical. Hi 👋
They don’t specify I suggest you do it whichever way your instructor suggested 😊🫶🏼
Do you have to remove the cape before being graded for the haircut?
Thank you!! You have been SO helpful

I finished school in 2020 passed my written but never went for my practical.
I’m studying now ❤
Yes definitely time to go and get licensed!! Good luck 🍀🫶🏼
5:11 where would you pin that in at?
On the back of the neck or it can be anywhere?
If you use a T pin it goes pushed into the mannequin neck in the back wherever really you need it to hold the cape
Hello, should I remove the cutting layer? without even verifying the cut? If the examiner decides to use the scissors, will he not have the cape?

No at the end before you clean up and disinfect always always check your haircut and correct if needed it a must 🙂
I saw you setting the comb down. My school has always told us we would get deductions from that. What are your thoughts on it?
It won’t cause you to fail that’s for sure, I remember being trained the same way many moons ago, maintaining sanitary conditions around you is key along with demonstrating steps asked . You setting comb down on a disinfected surface for a few seconds should be ok .

Hi! So for the one length section, we can just do the perimeter and then move onto layers? We don't need to go through section by section finishing the one length then move to layers?
Correct
Hi Ms Yary 👋
What is the correct position of the shear? In or out when you are combing the mannequin's hair?
Out, your palming the shears and your thumb is out of the thumb ring , that allows you to comb through the hair safely
@GlamAndBeyond Yours was in, I thought we could do both, but anyway, thank you very much for your videos. I'm watching all of them 🥰
@ of course doing both is fine as long as your palming your shears and keeping safety in mind, but from what I understand out if the “correct way”
Question?
For the hair cutting section, do we have to bring a fresh mannequin? Or can we bring a mannequin that's already been pre cut?
It can be a mannequin that’s already been cut just be sure it’s not too short when you take it .
Question? I know we have 42 mins to complete the haircut. So lets just say if a student finishes the haircut exactly at 40 minutes. Hi, so we don’t need to cut the entire head with a razor and then follow with a layered cut? We only need to do the bottom perimeter? Thank you so much! I take my test on Tuesday 😊
You can it’s really up to you, as long as you incorporate the use of the razor at some point during the layered cut . 🍀🍀
My school taught us to do vertical partings when cutting layers, will we get points off if we don’t do horizontal?
No you will not, you can cut the hair whichever way you would like as long as it’s a layered haircut , and follow the rest of the requirements 🙂
QUEESTION:
DOES THE RAZOR NEED TO HAVE A GAURD ?
Yes
Please redo this video section so we can the cuts.🙏💝
I did
It’s in the cosmetology playlist, but I showed the long layered haircut.
Where did you get your manikin from?? My doll heads hair gets so tangled when wet 😭

My razor for the haircut does not fold shut like yours, but does have a guard. Will it be acceptable or I need to have one that closes like yours
Yes it should be fine 🍀🍀

😂 be sure that the area that you are going to cut is very wet. It make it easier to cut.
Does the razor guard have to be cut all around how you did it or just the bottom layer ?
It does not they simply want you to use it at any point during your layered haircut 🙂

Can you use the same drape for the facial , wax, and haircut
I used the same for facial and wax but changed it for the haircut
Do you think it’s okay to take another paid off shears in case yours fall? Or would there be points taken off ?
Yes if you want to you can take an extra pair just in case , but let’s hope that doesn’t happen. try to have good control and relax your hands a bit when cutting focus all will be good

No it has to be layered that is a requirement. In tx
@@GlamAndBeyond thank you!!🙏🏽

Will I get points off if I leave the drape on for other services after haircut? I only have 2 capes from my school!
Also does it matter if my mannequin has colored hair? I take my test tomorrow!
After the haircut you definitely need to remove the haircutting cape and have a chemical cape for the rest of the sections
my shears and razor came in a little case with a comb, can i put that case in my bag?
That should be fine yes
just a question :) do you think if i used a glove on my mannequin stand to help the head not slip i’d get points knocked off? just curious!

yes you can

If you want weight at the base zero first . Otherwise all 180.
Do we have to take the practical exam the same day as the written exam???
No in Texas students do the written computer test first and once you pass you then become eligible to schedule for your hands on practical test .
Could i re use my cape for each section instead of throwing it in the trash?
You can but you should consider taking at least 3 capes
1 -For facial and wax sections
1- for the haircut and 1 for the rest of the sections
@GlamAndBeyond okay awesome! So definitely leave the cape on after the facial is done?
