Ericsurf6 I love your Channel! I am originally from the Philippines. But, I am half American. I love the food that you showcase in your videos. Japan is on my list of places to travel because I am open to any kind of food. In my opinion, Japan has the best cuisine.
Thank you for finally listening to us about local foods. By the way, it doesn't have to be super expensive dinners to make us happy. Food stalls and quick snacks or anything like that locally are awesome to watch too Eric! Thanks again. Much love from California
I love “梅の花“ (Umeno Hana) restaurant. Very traditional Japanese dishes. I am not sure foreigners who are not exposed to Japanese food can appreciate this restaurant, however, it is worth trying. Definitely exquisite experience 👍 Thank you for uploading Umenohana in your meal time:)
This Episode is fantastic... normaly every dish here is one of it´s own. Nobody ever showed this variety of japanese food here.... For this mass of different dishes we can just envy Eric. This gives a good overview of the endless variety of japanese cuisine. Food and presentation at it´s best and you got a single room that gives some private space to get the highest enjoyment. This all is real japanese food culture.
I make soy milk with the powder soybeans but didnt know the tofu skin is a dish in Japan. Cool to see it presented that way. Often find it dried in Chinese markets sold in rolled sheets. Has a nice texture. Can be cooked with egg and ginkgo seeds and rock sugar as a dessert.
Haha, great video! And basashi is delicious ---actually all that looked good (except for the chawanmushi)! But 41 seems like such a random number... I'd hate to be the dishwasher at that place ;)
"What is that - a daycare center?" = Made me laugh BIG TIME. (Anyone who eats meat can not complain about the horse - unless they are hypocrites, of course. )
But you can eat dog or cat. Animal meat is meat, same as chicken or beef. It's hypocritical if you eat chicken but then complain about horse meat. And there are lots of parts in 'the West' that eat horse.
The idea of 'the west' not being ok with horse consumption is stupid, Italy is one of the largest consumers of horse meat in the world along with France, Belgium, Canada and the United States all of which are western countries, very hypocritical to eat meat from one animal and say its not ok to eat another
TheJapanChannelDcom really because I eat meat on a daily basis and I've never eaten horse meat! SO YOU'RE LIBERAL VEGAN LIPS CAN KISS MY CONSERVATIVE MEAT EATTING ASS!
already this is one of my favorite videos you have made. what a restaurant experience! i can't believe they serve rice at the end. so many salty and sweet dishes that are perfect WITH rice. sorry i'm so late to your channel, trying to catch up.
Wow! Amidst all this abundance of dishes, I'd basically remain hungry, as I couldn't eat most of them. But I do find it to be very interesting and educational; and that I really appreciate! Thank you! : )
I know you stated it seems like this is too much food and the variety is a little confusing but this is probably one of my favorite of your videos I absolutely loved seeing the wide variety of dishes! I would love to see you do this again only maybe a place that does a smidgen less tofu.
I was about ready to go to another video when he said Horse meat I had my little moment but then i calmed down to thought about it, people in different parts of the world eat different thing and too them meat is meat no matter what animal it comes from and I thought to myself I have had alligator, ostrich and kangaroo so really i have no right to be mad. =)
Woow what an awesome meal, every single dish looks soo stunning beautiful, maden with so much efford and love in each detail. THIS is my biggest dream to eat once in my life, thank you so so much for showing. Also big praise to the camera, you incrase the handling so much specially with fokussing, very nice detailed shots. Wish you all a wonderful time, greetings from Switzerland ^^
Loved this episode! I don't know if I would try the horse meat raw. Cooked maybe. The bacon was raw as well? I don't know why this seems weird to me, because I love raw fish! Maybe I should try eating it to acquire the taste, as I did with sushi which I now LOVE! #26, I don't think I am a fan of... I cracked me up on number 27. That little gag haha I also love the little lemon-squeezing contraption! How clever! The steak looked amazing. Great episode as always.
Great video Eric one of my favorites of your series so many different dishes being from the west their weird but have me so intrigued in Japanese cuisine keep up the great work!
That’s a whole load of food. In Spain when my friends and I go tapas hopping, I don’t think we ate more than 15 plates from 3-4 restaurants. But all 41 appetizer looks delicious, and horse meat is pretty good, as long as it stays chilled, in my opinion.
why are people complainin about horsemeat...we can find that in some restaurants here in the states and buffalo meat n gator meat n venison too. we eat bambi here so whats wrong with horsemeat?
People object to eating horses because they are beautiful animals (where alligators are hideous and buffalo are wild versions of cows), but people in the USA really do not like to see pets being eaten (many people keep horses as pets that they can ride). Not me, though; I'd eat horse if they cook it up right. I'd eat pretty much anything if it's done right. Cats, dogs, lizards, dolphins, whales, etc. I am most squeamish about bugs and spiders. I would love to eat my neighbors' yapping, spastic dogs. Get a good Korean chef and cook up those bastard dogs and I would enjoy that!
I’m yet to try horse meat I’m not against it, but I hope it has its own unique flavour. Looked tasted in Eric’s video. It’s not on English menu’s it should be! where too P.C.
I just saw an old video of you trying to high jump into a above ground pool!? I know it was you because at the end of the video you used the phrase GET SOME!😂🤣
Great idea! Loved seeing the variety of the dishes, but yes, could see how is get lost in that many. I just got used to sashimi. Props on trying horse meat!
Looking at the menu for Umenohana, it looks like he got 3 set courses, about $60, $58, and $35 each, PLUS the yuba skin course for about $11. So about $165 in total for this gigantic meal.
Arief Kamarudin If you can cook rice and fry eggs. You can definitely do other appropriate dish worthy of your budget. Japanese has a lot simple dish you can try at home. Google it.
9:12 Wed. 8/16/2023: Good Morning Ericsurf6 From Gilbert Arizona USA. Just seeing this video and really enjoying all the different types of different types of dishes you tried. The only one I have an issue with is the horse meat. I know it's a delacacy. And raised to be able to be able to eat. Healthy Blessings 22:13
41 dishes! OMG, I couldn't eat them! But I enjoyed watching you do that. About horse meat I don't consider it offensive, was food as pig or cow or fish at that moment.
I think americans object to eating horse because theyre seen more as pets and work animals. but to me there isnt much difference between them and cows. ive seen cows be extremely affectionate and full of personality. yet no one objects to eating them
The horse meat is the only thing that didnt seem right with me but no judgement ive never tried it and would try it if i didnt knkw what it was. But love the videos obviously as im going back through and watching them all again lol thanks for sharing Eric/ camera person
Id give all that a try if i could. Surely will finish the sashimi. Horse meat, ive eat it before, not really knowing till after, it was cooked though. It was a yummy prank coz i did enjoy it. :)

Very interesting to have so many different samples of dishes served at one setting.
Thanks for doing that! This was actually really enjoyable to see the variety in dishes and how it's combined with the sauces.
This is food network worthy
devrayy or travel channel
Haha, great video! And basashi is delicious ---actually all that looked good (except for the chawanmushi)! But 41 seems like such a random number... I'd hate to be the dishwasher at that place ;)
Chinese emperors dine on 100-300 dishes and 20 concubines. Living like a king

Looks good so far.
"What is that - a daycare center?" = Made me laugh BIG TIME.
(Anyone who eats meat can not complain about the horse - unless they are hypocrites, of course. )
TheJapanChannelDcom of course we can in the West. Horses are pets and draft animals. We also don't eat cat or dog.

Chef gordon ramsay would say something like (its raaaaw) or (its blaaand)! Lol!
Not really, sure he would say raw but if it was a different show it would be a some kind of "Gordon Ramsay tries" kind of things
Noisey Neighbors

peepercoco he replied another comment, it's about 60 bucks not very expensive for what you get
Looking at the menu for Umenohana, it looks like he got 3 set courses, about $60, $58, and $35 each, PLUS the yuba skin course for about $11. So about $165 in total for this gigantic meal.

Dish #14 is actually wintermelon. Its mainly an asian vegetable and definitely not part of the radish family.
Newsflash....horse: it’s not fishy.
Loved this video, btw, dish 14 is winter melon, is in the same family as radish, but looks like a melon
Very interesting meal! 😀
