Do you test your water? Let me know!
Do you have to use freshwater master kit for betta fish.
Betta's are freshwater fish, so this would be the correct test kit :)
@@DilettanteCulture thanks
How would we clean the test tubes? I’m just paranoid I’ll mess up the next test
I just rinse them out and tap water.
Literally come to this video EVERYTIME I test my water. Very informative
Same
me too. have it saved to my Aquarium playlist.
Ditto 👍🏾
Similar for me, I have a video i go to every time i need to wipe.
PH- 3:52
High Range PH- 4:25
Ammonia- 4:48
Nitrite- 6:06
Nitrate- 6:32
Brilliant
Thanks queen
Yoooo the fact that you cut the sound when you said “hey google” is so wonderful. I have an amazon echo and I wish people would stop saying “aLeXa” during their videos 😂
It's a pet peeve of mine, so I try to not be an asshole 😂😂😂
I have one of mine as echo and my other as Alexa
I just taste-test my water.
"poo content seems pretty high"
ugh!! eww
barfing
Thank gawd im not the only one
🤢🤢🤢🤢
I’ve never bothered commenting on a video ever. But I had to take the time to say thank you. I’ve kept fish for over 30 years. I’ve never tested water, not once. I’ve had a brake having moved house but now 7 years later the house is complete and I’m setting up a tank. I just thought it would be a good thing to do with my son. Being dyslexic when I started as a kid I didn’t read much. I always chatted to shop owners and picked brains. I need to hear it not read it. You young man covey your self very well I get it all and my new fish keeping habits will be referring to this very video a lot. Great job.
I don’t usually comment on a lot of videos but I just had to say thank you for this video. It was very informative. Keep up the good work!
Cheers mate. Just ordered my API kit. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for showing us on how to use it because I become cautious when I first read the warnings at the back of each bottles. How do we dispose the solutions after?
Thank you for this video! I'm cycling a new aquarium, I'm new to the hobby, I have my API Freshwater Master Test Kit, but you made this kit so much more comprehensible and not so intimidating! Exactly what I hoped for. :)
Great video, explained brilliantly and very comprehensive. Thank you.
Wow! Great vid! Very clear and easy to follow. Thanks!
thank you for this video learned a lot from you im just learning this stuff .
Thanks for the video. Got myself a kit and found the instructions in the booklet a little bit confusing, but your video made it very clear. Really appreciate it
I'm one and a half years late in seeing your video but I loved it! API should hire you or at least pay you substantially for your instructional video. I am a nubie to aquarium life and bought this testing kit, watched their video and was clueless about how to use it until I saw your video, it, as my water should be, is so clearer now. Thanks man!
Thanks for showing how to use test kit bought one a year ago could not figure how to use it . Now with your help I can
i love your vids. you are very easy to understand, super organized and informative. i love your vids
This helped me out so much thanks for all the great content
Nice vid! Enjoyed watching! Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year!
Happy New year!
Also Ammonia & Nitrate tests recommend protecting your hands from coming in contact with the chemicals. Luckily I already have latex gloves on hand; I'll be using these as an extra precaution.
Thanks for this informative video! I'm a first time fish owner. I just got a 5.5 gal tank for my new beta fish and I feel a little overwhelmed!😱😂 I ordered a maser test kit and this video was very helpful! 😄👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
thanks for the wise words. Learn a lot of it. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks for the video. Very informative. Got the API water test kit. Tank full cycle after 6 weeks.
Love how you said "if you don't like this vid go ahead and dislike,I'm okay with that too" that shows me you are confident u know what yiur talking about. Mad respect fish dr.
I have watched several other videos on how to use the API Freshwater Master Test kit and this video is the only one that follows the directions *exactly*. Other videos had some interesting information on the cycling process however most didn't 'shake vigorously' for the correct amount of time (or at all). One video continue with the comparison chart reading without waiting 5 minutes (on the tests that required it).
Just got my API freshwater master kit and your video is super helpful! Thank you!
Great job.... well done... thank you!
Thank you for your help!
Very helpful- thank you
Very clear and easy thanks for sharing
Very helpful!!
Awesome video thanks for the tutorial.
I just bought a 10 gallon tank from my local Petsmart & have set it up. I ordered the test from Amazon & the syringes & will test for practice. Thank you for the video. I am hoping to get a betta & some tetras next week.
Excellent! TY
Nice vid! I just got one of these because I am getting some new fish and I have a few tanks already that I probably should test. I did the test of my tap water while watching this! Thanks!
This video is great. Thanks for the info
Great explanation. Helped alot
Very helpful, thank you!
First time testing new tank. Thank you for the invaluable information.
he's so cute im gay My x boyfriends name is mike
Loved the comments about nitrates. Want more on the nitrogen cycle for beginners
you explained this very well thank you.
Great Video Thank You!!
really good tip at the end about the tap water
Thanks so much i watch ur video for every test👍👍
helpful video, thanks
Thank you !
really good video, thanks for the help.
Very good video, v helpful.
Thank you for this video I have been using various makes test strips but was worried if I was getting an accurate test I'm waiting for the master kit to arrive today your video has really explained using test x
Ps I'm a newbie lol only had tank for a month
You are a lifesaver thanks
Thank you! My axolotls are very happy now that I’ve figured out how to cycle their tank properly :)
Such excellent 😊
Thank you!!!!🐌🐟🐡🐠
Well done
Here's a tip for anyone using this, its not mentioned anywhere in the instructions but a good habit shown in this vid, I fully believe you NEED to shake the ammonia bottles. I get ammonia readings of anywhere from .25-1ppm until I got into the habit of shaking them bottles. Now my cycled tanks show 0 as they should.
Wow, this video is exactly what i was looking for and needed!!! Thank you so so much for this!!!! I have a question, if you're cycling a new tank, i read that you shouldn't attempt to fix anything, just keep letting it cycle. Whats your opinion on this? Again, THANK YOU!!! :)
NICE!
Great video and advice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very imformative i LIKE IT!
Thankyou bro, good explanation,Is the same way of testing in biofloc fish farming.
thank U
Thanks youngsta
Great video and thanks.
All my readings are good but my pH. it's 7,6 when it's suggested that it be 7.0. What do you suggest to lower it?
Hi. Cool video, I was looking for a particular information. After the test when actually looking for the colors, I noticed that when putting the tube straight to the booklet the colors in the tube are slightly darker than if holding it about a centimeter away. What would be the most proper way of matching the color???
Thanks
Also love your aquarium beautiful
Nice work. I'm setting up an Archer fish tank. In general, is dKH important in fresh water tanks? The master kit doesn't have this tester. I really don't want to buy yet another kit.
I always use the test strips. After seeing this I will have to try out the liquid kits, I believe I saw that exact one at a walmart even. Thanks for the price matching info, if you are careless this hobby can be very expensive! :)
I used the strips at first, and recently bought one to see the results, and it was way off haha
interesting, I wonder how you would tell if you only used test strip - besides stumbling upon a video like this I suppose. How off was it? to a dangerous level to the fish?
@@zacmcintyre8252 it was reading that I had no ammonia, Nitrites, or nitrates, yet both of my liquid test kits were reading 40ppms of nitrates.
@@DilettanteCulture :O That's enough!
very informative and thorough...i did get that python and its bye bye buckets.Quick question in your video demonstrating how to use the python I remember you had a infared laser therometer.Where can i get that one or similar preferable the one you used?
Hi can you please help I going to do the test like you show how do you get rid of any of the bad stuff do I keep doing water changes.
muting the part when you said hey google was the most real shit i’ve ever seen
I could be wrong but I believe instructions state for nitrites to let sit for 5 minutes pretty sure read that in test kit instructions last night.
Please edit your video to state this so folks don't get a wrong idea of what to do and accidently kill their fish. I'm sure it was a simple oversight
Although I do appreciate you taking the time to make this video. It does help me to feel better in how I'm checking them!
hello sir i just wanna ask why my ammonia 1 and 2 test shows clear color only not even close to yellow.hoping for your reply.thanks soo much
What u got a black wall paper on tank?
Great tutorial, thankyou , now wouldn’t it be nice if api sold a little rack to hold those test tubes , I know I could make one but have you seen the price of a 1/2 inch drill , there quite expensive in the UK .
I believe they fit into standard 10ml test tube holders, but I cant remember
I have albino cory doras and my high ph is about 8.2 is that good? How can I bring it down?
Thanks for sharing I just started my 16 gallon aquarium its only been one week so for now I only have natural plants and later I will get guppies and zebra danios so I got the test kit like yours and I was wondering what was the difference between high range ph and ph thanks again for sharing this nice info.
Why is all my testing not changing color every test was clear water do the solution expire I see no expiration date
i got a test kit like 2 years ago and I couldn't get to work because I was doing it wrong so i got another one and couldn't get it to work either because i was doing it wrong so i just stopped using them. Now 2 years later... I watched this video and it worked perfectly. Thank you lol
🤣 well I am going get one.
Thank you, great idea with syringe…I used test strips before this kit…test strips are so much easier! But maybe not as accurate..🤣
I use the master kit for my freshwater Gourami tank. Best to know parameters to keep these guys healthy as possible.
Good
the one part i needed to know wasnt shown in the video. how do you take the cap off the vials? i just shattered two trying to get it off
Where can you order more test tubes. Yep, I broke one. Do you use all sorts of chemicals as well as prime? I’m trying to get away from all the chemicals. My water is naturally hard so I do use the IAP conditioner water softener. Thank you and I really enjoyed your video. Beginner with community 55 gal with life plants.
Where do u put the water after out of the tubes when ur done testing
I literally just set up my tank yesterday and they said it would take a few weeks for everything to be good for my fish I started with like 2.0 ammonia and after cleaning it nonstop and adding the conditioner and I it is 0.25. I will be able to get the fish tomorrow after a final test run, wish me luck!
Question- so have a new tank. Better letting it cycle before I put anything in. I got the test kit, and did both ammonia tests.... after adding the test solution the water color stays clear, doesn’t change. Is that a good thing?
Hi I loved loved your test kit video I as so confused before I watched you so helpful
My ph was clear ? Also I noticed when I added my panda garra fish to my goldfish tank I noticed more ammonia can I have them together
Any time you add a fish there will be an ammonia change. They should be ok. I know I'm late, sorry!
when he said, I drop my test tubes a lot, I felt that!! I broke 3 of them this morning, I had 10 lined up next to the bathroom sink after I tested my tanks, and Ooops knocked them all down!!
Hey , I’m cycling my 36 gallon . Ph is 7.6 , Nitrate and Nitrite is at 0 ppm . But my ammonia is at a consistent 0.25 ppm . Any suggestions? I added API QuickStart also .
So let say you have high ph or nitrates what do you replace water or add chemicals? I'm super new to this fish testing water stuff
Can you use the fresh test kit with a sand water aquarium kit?
Hello! Novice fishkeeper here. What would you do if you saw high levels of ammonia and nitrite?
I have a really fancy water conditioner and it removes the nitrate nitrite and ammonia when I add water
I've had a hard time trying to figure out the ph tests. Like do I use the high if the low is reading the max? Also sometimes hard to distinguish between the ranges.. like is it 10 or 20 ppm? Haha.
just tested my water and my amonia is 8.0 ppm will i ned a water change
Thanks for the visual on this. And thank u for muting ur hey Google 😉
Is there a certain way to clean the tubes after testing to avoid any contamination issues on future tests or do you just rinse em in plain tap?
Joshua, I have a 1 Cup Pyrex measuring cup that I pull about *2/3 of a cup of Tank Water.*
I use a 5ml Medicine Syringe to draw Tank Water from The Cup for the Test Tubes, for *Pre-rinse, Testing, and Final Rinsing!*
I keep a Plastic Cup as a "Dump Cup" to pour the Test Tube Contents into.
I never allow Tap Water into my Tubes, *unless I am Testing Tap Water,* and then I use Tank Water to Rinse.
And I have Each Tube Cap *color coded* so each tube is specific for each test.
Can you use the same tubes again?
I’ve been doing fish in cycle for over 5 weeks now and my levels are barely going down except for nitrate of course. My ammonia has been at .25ppm for the longest time and nitrite just went down to 0 but my nitrate level seems to be about 40-80ppm. I just did about a 45% water change but the nitrite still seems the same. I was directed to do a tank flush but I really don’t wanna slow down the whole process when my fish seem completely fine.
Hi, is there a need to test ammonia & nitrite if I test the nitrate first and is almost 0?
If your nitrate is almost 0, I would bet your ammonia and Nitrites aren't, so I would definitely test all three.
I use the stripes is that a wrong idea? People tell me to get the master kit.
Cute
