Thanks Jackie for your generosity. I asked a glass artist one time what she used for glue and she wouldn't tell me. To me real artists share the joy of creation.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I made a window mosiac with broken glass and glass beads and used E6000. It looked fine but didn't hold long term. I hadn't seen anything like what i'd made on youtube so It was all trial and error, mostly error! The window has sat in my garage for atleast 3 years. Now I will reglue it with silicone and hang it up on my garden shed! Thank you for being so kind to share your talent with us.
You are so knowledgeable! Thank you for sharing. I just started using silicone on my stained glass mosaic stepping stones and I was worried about the durability. You have put my mind at ease!
Love the stacked pieces in the flowers! One of my favourite shapes. Thanks for the video. I got the answer the first time but it is so good to hear the DAP is still going strong. Have a great day.
Thanks for the advice. My boys and I are big sea glass collectors in Barbados. I am excited about making some faux stained glass featuring turtles, light house, sail boat, palm trees. I didn’t know what to do with all the nice glass we have collected. It looks difficult yet rewarding!
This video saved me so much time! I was trying to figure out how to glue seashells to glass for framing. I was going to use Gorilla glue but came across this video and purchased silicone. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Jackie!
Thank you so much for the information before I start a project and fine out they don't stay for long term.Very much appreciated coming from someone who has that knowledge.

Hi from the west coast of Canada! Thank you so much for this video! It was super helpful and I'm so glad to hear that silicon can be used on paper too! I'm going to try and do a few small pieces :) Love your work and your videos.
What ‘thickness’ of glass do you ask for when you actually do replace the picture frame glass for something stronger ? ( statement near the end of the video) You create lovely art. This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. You have made it to England !!! Thank you for the information.

very useful Video! i am looking for a glue to decoraze glass baubles and all the glues are either very hard &brittle after drying or stink horribly, or both. i'll try the silicone!
Hope it works well. It’s easiest on a flat surface as it takes so long to dry but I have taped pieces in place and then removed the tape after it sets.

Check rivers too! I just discovered the river down the road from us used to be where the old city dump was in the late 1800s early 1900s. Its nothing but glass and old pottery in some areas! I'm so excited!
Thank you. Wonderful video. Can you use this glue to put pieces of glass on a canvas? Do you know if it will hold over time or what glue can be used for glass on canvas?
Thanks so much. I've been collecting all my life. The lion's share is from PEI, Canada. Although I'm living in NS and haven't made it back there since October last year so I haven't been adding to my collection. Can't wait to get back to the beach.
I have a long vertical frame w/o glass. If I bought glass either 1/8 or 3/16 thick how do I kno it will fit and stay in the frame? It has those metal fasteners on back to hold it in. Plus can I use kwik seal on back around the frame fir extra security? So fearful of the sea glass and agates etc to be too heavy fir glass. Also how do u clean it all from dust accumulating on it? Ty so much! U r very informative
Order the glass to fit the frame See my video on to prepare a frame for a mosaic for more info. I do use the silicone all around the back. Dust with a stiffer duster.
I've never made a glass topped table for outdoors so I can't say. However, I'm working on a mosaic to test hanging outside and I'm using the same product. I will post a video on how this works.
Im using that silicone on glass with glass but some of them arent clearing up even after 5 days. The co. Says wait 2 weeks. What do you think? I smeared the silicone over the whole area where the piece would go. Thank you for your help. Barb
I find it Depends on how much you use. The more you use the longer it takes to turn clear. I use as little as needed to hold the piece, But I have found that on larger pieces where I've used a lot it can take a few weeks to clear. I've never smeared the whole area - I just put some on each piece as I attach it.
I got the DAP kwik seal silicone. I'm trying to complete 3-4 mosaics in few days as rapidly as possible. I could do them all tonight but the silicone is drying white. Not sure I need a different silicone. Or if I'm using too much. Can the tinyest(so) drops of silicone hold the duration of time? I've used it on turquoise and it holds very well. Just I see white...
If it's still white, it hasn't finished setting. The longer you leave it the more set it will be. Make sure you have the one that says "dries clear" and not the one that says "white". I have found even the tiniest bit does work on small pieces and it holds over time. Good luck. This doesn't tend to be "fast art".
Thankyou for your video. It is so informative but i do hv a question for you. I live in Malaysia where it is basically hot the whole year round. Would the silicon glue be able to withstand our heat? Thanks. Tammy🌻
Hi Tammy, The Clear silicone I use is meant for use in kitchens and bathrooms and is meant to withstand heat and moisture so you should have success in your climate.
Archie Watts I cant see why it wouldn’t work. I find it works well on paper, wood, fabric, and plastic. Even driftwood. Hope your project turns out well.
I luv ur art wk Jackie, when u do sea glass onto window frames, does the light shine thru? where are the idea locations for these windows? Do u look for old windows or utilize what u have? Which window frames seem to give u better results?
Thanks The light does shine through nicely making the look of the sea glass change with the changing light. I seek out windows and frames - the more unique the better. Now I have a large collection. I have only used a double pane window once and it was small enough to work, but I look for single pane vintage windows. I get them at yard sales, antiques shops and people give them to me, as they know I collect them.
Is there a particular weight of glass that you purchase when replace glass in a large picture frame? Also, I don’t live near the beach so I couldn’t get the sea glass. Does anyone sell sea glass.
Hey Jackie I’m new to the sea glass art world I was just wondering when you say you use a white silicone like in the time stamp 3:10-3:14 does the pack say dries clear or does it just stay white
Buy one that says clear on the tube. I prefer one that goes on white and dries clear but I’ve used ones that go on clear and stay clear. They all work in the end. But if it says white on the tube it will stay white. Good luck.
I have a question once you have a piece that has been silicone glued together. And after finish have you ever had to take a piece off and redo it does the silicone grab really hard or can you use a blade and scrape underneath to remove a piece of Seaglass. Or if you pull on a piece of Seaglass does the silicone stretch and Peel . A second question if you cover the piece of glass like a vase all the way around. Without grout. If you wash something like that with soapy warm water. Does it affect the silicone where do pieces come off.
You can pry the pieces off and scrape off any excess silicone. If covering a surface that isn’t flat you have to have it laying flat and don’t stand it up until it’s set or it will slip out of place. And yes you can submerge it to clean with soap and water. If a small piece falls off just reattach
