Simply one of the best interpreters of this role in our generation. Her silvery voice has enough heft throughout the range to fulfill the demands of this tremendously difficult role. Additionally, she is an exquisite actress!
I just love this woman. A great singer, and much under-appreciated in the United States. Her countryman Karita Mattila tends to overshadow her. Hope to hear more from Ms. Isokoski in the future.

In my opinion, the finest soprano in the world today. The shere quality of the voice, the phrasing etc makes many current ultra hyped sopranos sound like complete amateurs at best. Don't think I need to mentioned any names if you know anything about singing.
A glorious performance of a very difficult aria. The voice has a wonderful shimmer and gleam. Technically she has everything that is necessary for a great career--I hope Europeans who have had more of her have appreciated a truly great singer.
This is even better the third time around. This is, I believe, a model of how to sing Mozart recit., how to breathe, how to add appoggiature, how to render the Italian text, etc., etc.
Tonight, the great Jim Svedja (KUSC classical music host) is interviewing Isokoski and playing her cds for five hours (7 p.m. to midnight). Her speaking voice is lovely as is her lilting accent in English. What a treat I'm in for tonight. Her Mozart is first rate.
I am surprised never to have heard of her--this is first-class work.. This aria would murder a 15-year-old singer. Sometimes one must make dramatic concessions. In Shakespeare, how many truly great 14-year-old Juliets have you seen?
