On "My Car Story" we're in Pacific Grove CA on 8-20-22.
We're looking at a 1956 Lincoln Premiere Convertible in Taos Turquoise Paint. The car comes with a 368 CI V8 engine.
We’re talking with the Owner Jeff Wildin. Jeff’s had this car since 2016. He shares this car won design awards in 1956. He mentions he’s always had a soft spot in his heart for Lincolns and particularly interested in design. This car has both pieces, and then add this color Taos Turquoise, and this was a good car for him. This car is AMAZING.

It's simply spectacular! I loved all their hats, too. Even the deer stopped by to give a nod of approval.. Pebble Beach always delights. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, High praise :-) Happy to share this show stopper, even at Pebble Beach with you. You're welcome, Lou
Always one of my top favorite automotive designs. Just a very thought-out and inspired design. Like a show dream-car prototype. This one is breathtaking in both its condition and spectacular color. It screams "1950's!"
Hi Joseph, High praise for this design and color :-) Lou
Without a doubt the 1956 Lincoln Premiere ranks as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Ever since I was a little kid, this car was always one of my favorites. Lincoln out did it's self in '56 the simple design with it's gorgeous front end and beautiful rear end can not be beat those taillights are an iconic Lincoln Look. The interior is simple yet elegant and comfortable with many features that were ahead of their time. I love everything about the 1956 Lincoln Premiere. Just a gorgeous car, then and now. I have a large collection of 1:18 diecast model cars, which includes a "56 Lincoln Premiere 2 door hardtop in the same Taos Terquose, with a white roof and white interior. I love the 1956 Lincoln Premiere.
Hi William, High praise for the looks of this car :-) Lou
Gorgeous Lincoln in a Wonderful Color ! Thanks for posting Lou !
Hi Rudy, Happy to read you enjoy the color and looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Gorgeous car. The designers of this car were way ahead of their time on this one. Too bad we don’t have designers like that anymore.
Hi Czech Mate, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Czechmate, I agree with your first sentence here. Even if we had comparable designers today, there wouldn't be anything for them TO design other than SUV's, crossovers, trucks and 4-door sedans. The market is for the previous and that's it. It's sad, but so is the state of everything today. This car came from the world of Post-World War II optimism and brilliance. The vehicles of today represent these deader-than-dead times. Sorry.
@@bobpierce115 No need to apologize, you have a point there.
Was built like a tank. Saved my mother's life according to State police after she collided with a truck on an icy highway. True story.
Hi Tom, WOW! Happy to read this one was built like a tank and your Mom was okay, Lou
Power windows and power seats on this 1956 beauty...so very very impressive...it would be 20 years before these wonderful options would be thought of as commonplace...in 56, it was simply mind boggling...Great work Lou!
Hi Daniel, Happy to read you appreciate the advanced technology in this car :-) Thank you for the kind words on the work to video this car. Lou
Hello Lou! I decided to check out this Lincoln after viewing the pink '56 Hardtop. The link you provided brought me here. This Lincoln is even more lovely. There were many amazing body colors for 1950s automobiles, unlike today, when we're limited mostly to boring grays and silver cars. The owner said there are only about 100 of those Lincoln convertibles like his. A big reason for that is because Lincoln produced only 2,447 Premier convertibles in 1956. They carried a base price of $4,747 - a huge pile of money back then.
Taos Turquoise? Wonderful, lovely color for that car. Nobody did it better than Lincoln in 1956! Incredible, timeless styling!
Thanks again, Lou! Nobody can do it better than you when it comes to locating vintage automobiles. I'll keep on watching.
.
Hello Know Bodies Full, High praise. My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Wow! What an awesome car! Loved his outfit and loved the hats. And a great color for a 1956 car!
Hi Bob, Happy to receive a "Wow!" from you. Thought you'd like the color :-) Lou
That Lincoln has one of the best color combinations ever, and has such a classy look. I am sure it rides great also Lou. Loved it. Have a great Christmas and New Year!!
Hi Randy, High praise for the color and looks of this car :-) You're right. fun ride. Wishing you a great Christmas and New Year too, Lou
My 57 was a sedan, with the same color!...the car was sumptuous inside...but the handling was predictably mushy, and even with 300bhp, the car was kinda slow, around 11 seconds 0-60...Lincoln eventually used a 430ci, 350hp engine throughout most of the 1960s.
What a beautiful Lincoln! It has to be rare because I've never heard of the Premiere. I love that Taos Turquoise color! It's so period correct! I also love that knight hood trunk key lock. I also noticed the brake pedal had two bars that looked unique. The engine runs super quiet, and it sounded very healthy and smooth. I got a kick out of the gentleman's matching outfit that went perfectly with that paint job! Definitely a beauty that's for sure! It seems like you find some awesome cars at Pebble Beach.
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and appreciate the rarity of this car :-) Glad you enjoy the color & matching outfits too. Lou
Honor to have this car in our 2023 Rose Parade 🌹❤️🌹Thanks Jeff!

Wow!!!! That’s all I can say about this beautiful time capsule! So way ahead of its time…stunning!!! Happy Holidays Lou!❤
Hi Edmund, "Wow!!!!" High praise :-) Happy Holidays to you too, Lou
My wife's grandfather was a Cadillac guy. He only owned El Dorados. That made my wife fan of Cadillac. She always bragged on them and would like to have one someday. I am a Ford and Mercury guy? Except for one Plymouth, all of my cars have been Fords or Mercurys. I used to tease my wife that if I ever stepped up to a more luxury car, it would be a Lincoln. Seeing this video, I see the Lincoln I would want. It is truly a beautiful automobile. Certainly a much better car than the 56 El Dorado my grandfather in-law had.
Hi Daniel, High praise for this Lincoln :-) Lou
Yeah, if this doesn’t say Ritzy Fifties, nothing else will. Ive seen a few of these on the road back in the day, but the convertible was a rare sight even then. A true land yacht. Lou, another great review.
Hi M A, Happy to read you appreciate the rarity of seeing this car today. Appreciate the kind words on the review, Lou

@@loucostabile I am a Ford, Mercury and Lincoln person. Fomoco cars from 1955 to about 1968. My other favorite car is the 57 Tbird or 61/63 Birds. I had nothing but Fords and Merc's and one Lincoln.
What a stunningly beautiful car. I've never seen a Lincoln like this. I wish the automotive industry would design vehicles similar to the mid 50's to mid 60's again
Hi Steve, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing a car with you that's new to you, Lou
This is a much more favorable presentation of this car than the earlier version, The 1956 Lincoln sales brochure notes no other car seems quite as natural as a convertible as a Lincoln. In the case of this car that is certainly true. I had the pleasure of seeing my first 1956 Lincoln in my neighbors garage since he happen to be the local Lincoln Mercury dealer. The fog lights are a very attractive and useful option on this car. Assuming the car was not purchased for police work, the twin spotlights are tasteless inappropriate clutter on a very beautiful car,
Hi Stude289, Learning how to keep the Channel moving forward :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Hi Jaime, Happy to read you enjoy this "amazing vehicle" :-) Glad to share the fun ride with you. Blessings to you too, Lou
Jeff knows how to make a grand entrance. I think the Lincoln Premier put Cadillac several notches down . Such a beautiful car . With the color and chrome it makes you think Tiffany had a hand in the design as well . This car combined with the scenery makes this one of your top features Lou . Thanks for sharing and Buona Natale.
Hi Michael, "Jeff knows how to make a grand entrance" I agree. High praise for this feature. You're welcome, Lou

I thought the Mark II from 1956 was the finest Lincoln - you just changed my mind. I didn't know this car existed. The star emblems and interior are superb. He can park it here in Taos if he needs a parking place. Fantastic find Lou. .
Hi Alex, "I thought the Mark II from 1956 was the finest Lincoln - you just changed my mind. I didn't know this car existed." High praise :-) Lou
Alex, this Lincoln Premiere was the "Lincoln Lincoln" and the Mark II the very limited ultra expensive car for very few people, such as Elizabeth Taylor. To put it another way this Premiere was the 'Town Car' Lincoln of 1956 so to speak (if it had come as a 2 door convertible) or the 'bread and butter' model representing most sales with coupes, sedans etc.
Lou you just made my day with this wonderful dreammachine

Beautiful. I'm fantasizing that it is 1956 and my dad says he is going to buy me a car. I can choose from this Lincoln, a Cadillac or a Packard. I truly believe I would chosen this Lincoln. The 1950's is my favorite decade for car design. Thanks so much for the "Costabile" detail you did on the dash. So perfectly timed. I love it! I wish I could give this one two thumbs up!

My maternal grandparents always drove Lincolns. I wasn’t born until ‘56 so have absolutely no idea what model they had back then but being conservative Minnesota folk, I would bet it wasn’t Taos Turquoise! I would bet too a Taos Turquoise Lincoln was always easy to spot in even a crowded parking lot…

Goooorgeous. This is one of the very few cars, IMHO, where the styling can't be improved, like the 60's Riv/Toro/Eldo, the 69/70 Mach 1, and the E-type
Hi Steve S, Happy to read "Goooorgeous" :-) High praise for the styling of this car, Lou
a surviving product from American Industry, always so much more intriguing than resto-mods that are always featured by other channels. a 289 was impressive in a 1964 1/2 mustang. a V8 with this amount of mass, must make this a sedate, gradual cruising machine. maybe "one year," 'cause a 390 or something doesn't fit it. didn't Dodge have knights on their stuff? so nice. what a Christmas post from Lou. wow
Hi Scott, Happy to share this car with you, and thank you for the "wow" :-) Lou

1956 - The most beautiful Lincoln of the 1950s! Designed by John Tjaarda, who also designed the 1955 Lincoln Futura, which it resembles.
Hi Dejael, Interesting you say that. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Stay tuned for tomorrows episode :-) Lou
And we all know what that 1955 Lincoln Futura was later turned into. Need I say more?
Hi, Lou, and hello, deer! LOL! Taos Turquoise! Man, don't you just love those exotic color names we had back in those days?! And Jeff even came prepared with a matching shirt! The 1956 Lincoln had been one of the few cars that of that year that was all-new. BTW, as of this year Lincoln has now been part of the Ford family for 100 years. (It was named after Abraham Lincoln and was established as a private company in 1917 by Henry Leland, who had also founded Cadillac.) Thanks to both of you for taking us along in this beautiful knight in shining armor, and have a very Merry Christmas!
Besides the design award, this Lincoln had the admiration of Ed Sullivan and his co-host Julia Meade. Witness that here: ua-cam.com/video/OJnbIlBATLM/v-deo.html

Hi soupercooper, Thank you for the dinner, and that would be fun. This year I'm not scheduled for Monterey Car Week. Please when you're at a car show and see me, make sure to say hello, and we'll go find some cars for the Channel :-) Lou
I love the car very much Lou. There's a part of me that feels this car (somehow) was a more refined and beautifully styled version of the Packard, somehow. To me it has a Packard flavor, not unlike the Lincolns that preceded this one. The '57 is beautiful too, influenced by the '55 Futura. I don't like the stacked headlights though on the '57. No. It's kind of like how the (Chevelle) stacked headlights on the '76-7 Monte Carlo took away the beautiful Rolls Royce look of the '74 & 5 Monte's from the front end.
Hi Bob, Happy to read you "love the car very much" :-) Lou
I had two uncles that drove ‘57’s. I always thought that the ‘56 was a sharp looking car and the ‘57 a dog with the ugly fins tacked on.
Hi Dave, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Boo on you!...those fins were very smoothly applied, and I loved them!...I admit though, that most folks liked the 56 better.
That engine actually is a 368ci version....I owned a 57 Premiere, and it was the same engine, same ci, but tweaked up to an even 300hp for 1957. The 56 models were considered to be better looking than the 57s...but I disagree...whatever, they were incredible luxury cars. ...the interiors were the most plush I have ever seen!
Happy to read you had a cool 57 Premiere :-) Nice!
Nice car. On my car chassis lubrication is on the inner fender
Happy to read you like this "Nice car" :-)

Hi Todd, Thanks for sharing you have a set, Lou
Is it a Y-Block?
Or did Lincoln have something else going on in 56'?
Hmmm, not sure. Hoping a Viewer with knowledge can share.
Lou was that rather large handle on the door for the wing window? Some questions were not asked. How long has he had the car? Was the car in this condition when he bought it? If not how long did the restoration take? The gold plated lift up helmet for the trunk key. How rare are these and has he had it replated or repaired? It would be good to ask, on a high end luxury car like this, what the standard features are and what options are on the featured car. I would have liked to see the cool back up lights featured that are behind the chrome horizontal bars.
Hi Bill, Jeff’s had this car since 2016 (it's in the text description of this video). The rest of your questions were excellent, however seems I did not ask any of them. Maybe a "Take 2" video in the future....HOWEVER...maybe a few were asked in this video. Enjoy! Lou ua-cam.com/video/ZX7bgnEm6lk/v-deo.html
For what it's worth...my 57 had power wing windows--a rare feature!
